Hey been watching your reviews from years ago on headsets, great videos by the way. Can you recommend a open gaming headset that comes with a mic? Budget is 100. Was looking at hyperxcloud but they closed, seems like open is way to go for better soundstage , be mainly using ps4 but have pc as well.
Get the Phillips SHP9500S, some of the best open-backs you can get under $100. If you don't believe me, look up Z's review of the headphone way back when. They don't come with a mic but they're only around $60-$70 so use the remainder to buy a headphone mic that uses 3.5 mm (I use a Vmoda mic with my pair). Boom, instant "gaming" headset that sounds great for everything and isn't made like crap. Beware of buying anything that calls it a "gaming headset" as that's just marketing garbage -- the products may have fancy RGB lighting but they're usually built like crap and sound like crap.
I feel like these would be way better for studio use. These and the 7506 feel like polar opposites to me. The 7506 really lack sub bass but have great highs, whereas these have great subbass and kinda average, subdued highs I can see why the 7506 are a staple on TV studio sets though. They're perfect for vocals
Any comfy pair of headphones that sounds pretty good is end game for me. I feel like headphone reviews use too much hyperbole to describe the sound. If you're not listening critically it hardly makes a difference. I also have a decent set of speakers which I enjoy using more than sweaty earmuffs which happen to produce sound.
@@user-xg6zz8qs3q Whats your end game and decent set of speakers then? That's a serious question. A lot of people do enjoy this as a hobby, and do enjoy the different characteristics of headphones. I however have shifted to enjoying hidden gems, or great sound at a cheap level. The UR-40s are an example. So are the Status CB-1.
@@imakeumadLOL I have NAD Viso Hp50 headphones (they're dirt cheap at Visions in Canada), Klipsch RP 600M speakers and a Yamaha RN 402 amp. THIS* absolutely top shelf neutral mix headphones. Plus you can daisy chain another headphone to it, as the connections on each earcup is both IN and OUT. Incredible.
Hey zeos, I'm looking for a closed back headset for gaming and music. Currently using porta pros but they leak too much sound. My question is whether you think i should get these with a mic cable or the mh571 since they're around the same price. I have a slight loyalty to Koss because of the Porta Pros but when it comes down to it I'd pick whichever was better.
Pretend to be a mix engineer with these headphones. Just add a Schiit Loki or to really go tweak out, something like a dbx 231 graphic EQ into the signal chain.
IMHO the Philips SHP 9500 sound like garbage, unless you're a die-hard Hans Zimmer fan who only listens to Hans Zimmer all day. And Interstellar was the greatest movie ever made.
@@user-xg6zz8qs3q well, garbage is a bit harsh. It's a good headphone for soundstage, but it lacks bass and can't handle a ton of power at high levels from bass heavy tracks. Orchestral and live recording are where they do shine, so you're right there. I like my he4xx's a ton more. They are worth the extra cash even if you're on a budget looking for soundstage.
Today I had an epiphany: Zeos is kind of turning into a HiFi televangelist :D 13:15 "So, in reality; In my reality at least, these could be most important headphones"
Go for an open back, would recommend Philips Fidelio x2hr for the fullness and surprisingly accurate sound image. But these Koss Pro 4s if you want to hear all the small nuanced slapping of meat and moaning. It (Koss) has an very good sounding cup (metal) and the bass is near perfect not overwhelming and almost the best I've heard in terms of a dynamic driver headphone. If you tune the amp to a good volume you'd be very balls deep into the Koss for it's perfect averageness.
"....find a wooden headphone in a Goddamn mixing studio." Z's videos are very helpful, but if I could I'd like to warn that the use of God's name in vain is sin, and that there will be eternal consequences to be paid by those that unrepentantly commit that sin. To save one's self grief on judgement day, it would probably be best to leave the Lord's name out of it when making RUclips videos. "They're a pile of shit." "....everything's fucking fine...." "They are fucking light." While I'm at it I might as well warn that Colossians 3:8 instructs us to not use filthy language, and the Bible also warns that there will be eternal consequences to be paid by those that ignore God's rules for living. To save one's self grief on judgement day, it would probably be best to not use vulgar language when making RUclips Videos.
Better than m50x then? at 90$ most people needing a set of headphones to work with, should be using this then? Cause usecase is, most people are not that enthusiastic about a set of headphones for their youtube channel or their podcast even. They're just not going to be.
@@user-xg6zz8qs3q I'm not a fan either. I had m50s for a while and never liked them compared to some of the other headphones I owned, but I thought nothing of it because they were pretty cheap. Then I bought a pair of m40s for shits and giggles because people kept talking about how they were better and they totally were. If I was buying headphones for monitoring, it would be the m40s, not m50s.
@@FTGTapGod I am just fed up with the hype and hyperbole in the headphone community. The M50 was a very respected headphone until several years ago. To my ears the M50 sounds just like any closed back headphone. I don't understand why it costs about $150, when the AKG K92 is 1/3 the price and sounds about as good. And at the same time, the Philips SHP 9500 gets all the love and hype (even though it sounds grainy with forgettable mids and almost no bass). You can only trust your opinion with audio gear. I am gonna leave it there.
@@armannasr3681 1. because they are more accurate. 2. you can improve sound with room acoustics, but not your headphones. 3. Crosstalk. you need headphones to check stereo information, maybe low end. but you should not use them for critical work. Yes some do their way. I do work in audio industry, i do music and i tried mixing with headphones i have 6 of them. its hard man. and theres a lot more reasons (depends what music you're mixing/mastering)
Pass on these they are NOT comfortable. The ear cup is great for my 7 year old. So I gave my set to him. The are okay at best for an hour on my head. And I would say I have medium small head for a 5'10' man. The angeled driver cuts into my ears because the pads are way too shallow.
It's funny how few headphones get this right. Comfort is everything. This is why feel like Bose got a foothold in the headphone market despite the middling performance for the money.
I don't understand this whole sentiment that headphones or speakers are supposed to be exciting. If your music isn't exciting, find other music. Do you think so little of the artists that you need your headphones or speakers to make them exciting? They go through all this trouble, often years, to produce this music, and then you're: "meh, I'd rather get a pair of headphones to mess up the sound the artist came up with, not doing it for me."
Well, I've heard headphones and speakers that sound just plain dull, and lack any bass at all, so yeah, I don't like that brand of unexciting. The best music ever isn't going to help cheap junk. The best-produced Michael Jackson track in high-def. will never make Beats headphones sound like $2000 headphones.
I'm remiss: I meant to add that a lot of studio monitor headphones are kind of flat and "dull" by design. This is likely why a lot of people buy them expecting excitement and aren't hearing it. I have had this happen with the Audio Technica line of monitors, which are good but aren't really thrilling sounding headphones. They are neutral and unbiased, great for mixing but I wouldn't really buy them for sheer pleasure listening, or anything requiring a lot of bass, etc.
@@thiscorrosion900 I wasn't defending crappy headphones and speakers. If the song has no bass, then the headphones shouldn't inject more bass into it. If the song has no bass and your headphone is putting it in, that's not an exciting headphone, that's a crap headphone. Same thing if the song has bass and the headphones don't produce it, that's not a dull headphone, that's a crap headphone. The headphones should just produce what's being sent to it as correctly as possible. That should be the judging standard. But even in the scenario where you want to modify how the song sounds, you shouldn't be handling it through the headphones or speakers in whatever messed up state they have. It's better to do it precisely through EQ'ing to whatever state you prefer. That's the right tool for the job.

Pretend to be a mix engineer with these headphones. Just add a Schiit Loki or to really go tweak out, something like a dbx 231 graphic EQ into the signal chain.
Pretend?
Z my 1990's just came in today, and my sbx G6 is due on Friday. This is your fault.
Are the Philips shp 9500 worth it zeos
if you asked only z, i know what you want to hear
@@nonenothing4412 what do you think?
@@dabee.473 to me they are too harsh, i don't like peaky treble. there are better headphones for me and cheaper - ksc75, blon bl 03.
Hd 400s?
So dead and boring you hear your tinnitus come back 😂
Today I had an epiphany: Zeos is kind of turning into a HiFi televangelist :D 13:15 "So, in reality; In my reality at least, these could be most important headphones"
Soo, they are good for gaming ??
If you temperate an amp for the Harman Curve you'd be in for a treat with these.
If their that neutral for cheap wow
Joe Rogan wears is cans backward. You heard it here first.

Can I get a headphone review for Porn.
Preferably closed back.
If you tune the amp to a good volume you'd be very balls deep into the Koss for it's perfect averageness.
what a disgusting humor. and an advice to listen loud volume....
"....find a wooden headphone in a Goddamn mixing studio."
Z's videos are very helpful, but if I could I'd like to warn that the use of God's name in vain is sin, and that there will be eternal consequences to be paid by those that unrepentantly commit that sin. To save one's self grief on judgement day, it would probably be best to leave the Lord's name out of it when making RUclips videos.
"They're a pile of shit." "....everything's fucking fine...." "They are fucking light."
While I'm at it I might as well warn that Colossians 3:8 instructs us to not use filthy language, and the Bible also warns that there will be eternal consequences to be paid by those that ignore God's rules for living. To save one's self grief on judgement day, it would probably be best to not use vulgar language when making RUclips Videos.
stubby cable problems...
this guys is talking about a #gloryhole at a #spermbank 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
and people are like : is it good for gaming 🤔🧐
@3:15 every time Gahh!
waifu review please?
Better than m50x then? at 90$ most people needing a set of headphones to work with, should be using this then?
Cause usecase is, most people are not that enthusiastic about a set of headphones for their youtube channel or their podcast even. They're just not going to be.
I just can't see them being much different or better. But people like to crap on the M50x, especially Zeos.
They boring, tnx ill not take them,my second choice are m40x...
Ang hirap nito panoorin. Mura nang mura.
Zeos, engineers don't mix with headphones. and i dont think that mastering headphones exist. you use them for checking and reference
Can you elaborate on this comment? Do they exclusively use monitor speakers? And if so why? Thanks
Maybe these headphones are for the microphone guys holding the long fuzzy poles.
@@user-xg6zz8qs3qthe fluffers?
They go through all this trouble, often years, to produce this music, and then you're: "meh, I'd rather get a pair of headphones to mess up the sound the artist came up with, not doing it for me."
word of truth!!!!
Well, I've heard headphones and speakers that sound just plain dull, and lack any bass at all, so yeah, I don't like that brand of unexciting. The best music ever isn't going to help
cheap junk. The best-produced Michael Jackson track in high-def. will never make Beats headphones sound like $2000 headphones.
@@thiscorrosion900 it is an extreme example but you guys are both right. answer is in the middle...
They are neutral and unbiased, great for mixing but I wouldn't really buy them for sheer pleasure listening,
or anything requiring a lot of bass, etc.
That's the right tool for the job.
maybe they fit Joe better, You talk too much. They're flat like studio cans generally are.
I talk just enough
