Sitting here at the Ft. Campbell Pilot. Literally bought a 4g mobile hotspot, so I could watch your securement videos during my 34(s). Thanks for putting these together.
Awesome job! I leave for orientation at TMC in a week. I am so motivated to be at my very best and change my life. I’m watching every tractor and trailer that I see with an attention to detail like never before. It may sound corney but I want to make TMC THE BEST in the south...period. I see that this video was a year ago, and I plan to match what you did or better it in 2020. Thanks for setting the bar so very high.
That looks nice! I'm a new driver. 4 days into my 8 day orientation (new driver flatbed training) with Melton trucking. I like the way those bungies look.
I don't miss this part of working for TMC at all. Daily rolling tarps and then retarping the next load got old. Nothing like a good tarp job on a load of rusty steel. The whole experience wasn't bad, they had good equipment and I made decent money at the time but you had to earn it.
james grimes I worked there as well. I was a member of the safety team for two years. I came off the road 10 years ago , now looking to go back. But it won't be with them....lol.
You did real good, one thing i got from you that i wasn't doing that was turning them hooks out.thats a good idea ,i'm glad i didn't puncture the tarps .but them canvas tarp of old was hard to puncture anyway .but if i was 🚚 flatbed i would do that all the time.I'm the singingpreacher retired pavement pounder,i approve this video.keep on 🚚 baby.10/4
Looks good but you didn’t mention those straps that you put over the tarps. How many of those do you put on? Just one in the front and one over the middle where the two over lap? Thanks bro 😎 ✌🏽
Yes sir. Tarp a load, work like a dog. Always fun in high winds, snow and rain. TMC gives you what $25 bucks and they charge $125. WHo's the dummy? Conastoga's or van's.
Back in 88 before I started flatbedding,i was in Tx i met Bosshog of Style trucking he taught me how to tarp,in 92 i started doing flatbed thanks to bosshog i was good at it.Some of you old trucker may have known him because he traveled with his dog Fred.
Good video. Just left the oil field. Have also done flatbed loads during slow times and cant avoid tarp loads anymore so i ordered a set of 3 ultralight tarps from Carolina Tarps. Hitting the road with them Monday, i can't wait to tarp a load in South Dakota while its snowing!!!
I upgrade to my truck this week, and will be implimenting your extra 4" & 2" over the tarps + the 5 extra bungees down the side from the top row of D-rings to keep those annoying bubbles from blocking the view of the rear of the trailer and trucks behind me. Thanks for the video.
tmc drivers always been making me impressed how they tarp.. when you see a cube load not moving even one inch well thats tmc.. I'm a different small company O/O :)
Man I started pulling flat bed about a month and a half ago local, but after seeing all this extra work about tarping I'm thinking of going back to dryvan
@@truckeraxelmunoz4939 that's the main reason I decided to go flatbed. I just got done with orientation and am hoping I can tough it out through the sucking part.
Im going be doing flatbeding this month the question is do they make you tarp in bad weather like heavy rain and snow? Or do the shippers have a shelter to protect the load?
El wray Very few have shelters. You will tarp almost every load at TMC , in all kinds of weather. There are easier ways to make a living driving a truck. Whatever you choose , I hope it all goes well for you. 👌🏻
watch and learn is what the video title should be , great job... quick question for ya ... working for TMC , do you make your pick ups & deliveries mostly during the daytime ?
bosco358 it's weird when you pick up a load at night but yes there is I've picked up a coil at 9 p.m. and deliveries I've delivered at 12 a.m. I delivered at 3 a.m. but not all the time probably once or twice a year
@@truckeraxelmunoz4939 oh wow! I really, really appreciate that!! It would be quite a trek, I'm from Arkansas and I don't think TMC even hires from here.

geez man and u gotta be on time for deliver? like i know some times u guys get loads that may be 13'6 like how the heck do u climb up a load like that and safely get down?
When you are training with TMC do they teach you how to tarp like that to make it look good and not like a 5th grader did it. I did some hot shot with a buddy of mine and we never tarped before and we had to do it a couple times and it always looked like shit. Also do they provide the bungies and tarps
Axel Munoz The only time I strap it, is when I'm almost at the end of the tarp. Not much overlapping! But if you have more than 4 feet overlapping, I don't strap it.
@@truckeraxelmunoz4939 its all good brotha. Just popped up. Was just messing with yA😂Used to be in 91325 the last of the 379 short nose 13 speed cat. Still tarping the same way; with PRIDE. Be safe👍✌
@@truckeraxelmunoz4939 nice work! I've been driving for several years but I'm thinking about giving a flatbed a try. I've mainly hauled construction equipment to and from our job sites so tarping loads will be about the only new thing for me.
I had a woman at my orientation that did not make it because she could not pick up a tarp. It is a tough part of the job but so very necessary. If you believe you can do it, you should totally go for it. I've seen woman do shit men can't. TMC is a good company. Good luck👍✌
Thank you for the info. I'm trying to get a Job Driving with TMC. Nice to know you may be a future brother on the road! I hope they accept me. My application is in and under review! Thanks again for the info. I hear TMC is one of the best to train Flat Bed Drivers. I hope it's true and hope they accept me into the family.
I answered honestly about an old back injury that I was cleared of over five years ago with zero recurrence. Got answer back that despite NO criminal record not even traffic points. Zero lifetime points and zero lifetime at fault accidents. They are not going to accept me. They want honesty, then penalize you when you are honest even though it is a non-issue now.Hope you got it. Just tested out and got my truck Friday! Your the reason I’m at TMC!

That is how you tarp dam perfection

i am a new broker, keep hearing from other brokers that "tarping is a part of the job" would love for all brokers to watch this video.
What always killed me was why we have to tarp a load of water pipe
$250.00 for tarping should be the norm.

How often(percentage wise) do you have to tap your own loads?

Thanks for the information looking forward going tmc
How long does it take to tarp a load and how long to un tarp and roll everything up? And how much do most carriers pay for tarping?
AJourneyOfYourSoul 30 mins to 1 hour. Some co. don't pay for tarping. TMC pays $50.
Wylie pays 75 for tarping. Highest I've seen yet.
This is a developed skill. How many bungees do you have
A lot of them lol
Beautiful job
Why doesn't the company use Cramaro tarp systems?
