Thank you. Very clearly and concisely presented. I have watched several presentations on electrical igniters, and yours is by far the best. By all means, do more presentations on your interests if you can. Any material related to pyrotechnics and energetic compounds is much needed. Even if there are a dozen or more videos on a subject on RUclips and even if they're made by more knowledgeable persons than you, it would be a worthwhile thing to do. The current selection of RUclips material on pyro and energetics is OK, but most presenters don't have much experience or talent and so end up butchering their own creations. Your clarity and ability to present in an organized fashion is desperately needed in our world. Thanks, and good luck with all you do.

Very nice video and wonderfully present. Thanks again for the video brother. I have question regarding the battery... May I know what size of battery should I have to use for good ignition ?
Use 10:1 black powder, dextrin mix! Make a paste with couple drops of alcohol and dip ignitors in mix! No need for tape and messy powder! If you dont have nichrome use 2 strands of speaker wire!
@@pyrogun1839 the more work isn't that bad if wire and solder costs me nothing right? lol... Now would this set up work on the firing cues that take 4 AA batteries?
@@Chaotic_Enigma That's true! It might work. I would imagine it depends on what size nichrome wire you use and how long your wires are to the igniters. I've used 9V batteries in the past and found I had some issues with ignition. However, those issues could have been caused by faulty igniters, hard to tell. You'll just have to experiment with it! I've found a rechargeable drill battery (20 something volts) works remarkably for me.
@@pyrogun1839 yea I forgot that the size nichrome is key here depending on volts. I noticed that nichrome gets ridiculous in price if ya want 48 guage and smaller lol. Thanks man

I was looking for the hook-up wires... thanks for the tip
You're welcome!
Could the wire be soldered into an old igniters or would it just melt being so thin
Would love to see this incorporated into the mandalorian whistling birds
Very nice video and wonderfully present. Thanks again for the video brother. I have question regarding the battery... May I know what size of battery should I have to use for good ignition ?
Thank you! I was using a 9 volt battery, but the best ignition comes from using something like a rechargeable drill battery.
@@pyrogun1839 how much ampere of you 9v battery brother ?
Thats awesome!! Thanks mate!
you can substitute michrome wire with steel scrubbing pad strands and matchs. 100% ignition so far over 100+ ignitions
I can't get to ignite black powder with steel scrubbing strands with only 6v/2amps
@@ernestosaboia ignite a match, wich lights the powder
@@luddechamp Thanks, I have another approach that works great. Only 3.3V does the job using the right wire.
Ernesto Melo i use a 1,5 AAA battery and it works perfect also, lights the flash powder
Glad you found a way that suits you :)
I gave up on small batteries and started using my rechargeable drill battery. Works every time.
Wait. Would the match ignite once it immediately comes into contact with a current or battery?
Yes
best tutorial if you want to produce lots of them
Lego Mini Movie Productions im sure if you worked hard you could probably make 100 in a day
Match powder working on that one ? @@pyrogun1839
Thank you so much this will really help me with my high power rocket launcher project

I'll have to try that!
Isn't speaker wire made if copper?
Does copper work as well?
Just dunk the exposed nichrome in water and coat with the BP. Also, never stick steel into a tub of powder. Use static free plastics or brass.
Good video! Keep building
Thanks, and I will :)
I was never allowed to play with kids like this one LOL
Too bad, we have a good time :) might get burned every once in a while, but it's worth it haha

Very, Very good, the best of RUclips!
Can you tell the name of the powder, its component... I'll try to find here...
Regards from Brazil!
Leonardo Takahata glad you liked it! The powder can be bottle rocket powder, black powder, or gun powder.
Many thanks man!
Great work
Thank you!
Is this the same kind of ignitor used in car airbgas..?
Could possibly be similar. Never tried to disassemble one to figure that out 😂
I know this video is old but can i use 20 gauge solid wire? With the nichrome wire?
try it and see if it works
Does it have to be solid wire? I have access to as much 22 and 24 guage strand wire I want at work
If you use solid wire, you can clamp the nichrome wire in place. With strand wire, you'd likely need to solder the nichrome wire to it (more work).

Can you light a bottle rocket with this?
Maybe, you'd have to pull out the fuse and wadding so the igniter can light the powder.
Can you give me how to make explosive powder is you use in your video above,?
I used the powder in some of my fireworks.
try 40 awg ist mor effective
What do I use besides that other wire I cant go get it
Nichrome wire has to be purchased over the internet. You can use steel wire from kitchen scrubbers.
@@pyrogun1839 ok
Can i use 20 gauge solid wire with the nichrome wire?
Yes
what powder does he use and where can I get it?
Tim Overbeck I use powder from bottle rockets. You can probably use whatever flammable powder you can get.
what does that mean? Im trying to do this for a school club
Tim Overbeck it means you get a bottle rocket, break it open, and put the powder inside of it in the igniter 👍🏼
Pyrogun1839, dude your can is full, for what's inside a bottle rocket it must of took you a while.
@@jamesluck2969 it took many bottle rockets, maybe 50....or more 😂
👍👍
to shrink tubing just use the soldering iron; with 9v battery it aint possible to ingnite anything
How much v bettrey you used for 32 gauge wire and 38 gauge wire?
9V works for 38, but I use a 20V battery for the 32.
I used 9v but it's not heat up
Hmm, maybe your battery is low or dead. 9V should definitely heat up a 38 gauge wire.
I used new 1604s 6F22 9v battery
Something is probably wrong with the igniter then.
You won't light anything with that, you need longer, hotter, bigger flame. Use Rcandy for example, this thing is kinda trash for rocketry

What do you use for fuel? Do you know how to make in packed matches? ruclips.net/video/Lv84hYOzslk/видео.html
Oswald Bruggemans I use bottle rocket and sparkler powder. I've never heard of those, what are they?
What if you use 30 gauge wire?
I'm not positive since I have never used it, but it would need a large battery to heat up quickly. I use a 20V drill battery for the 32 gauge wire.
awesome work
Thanks!
