The effects of the downturn are beginning to sink in. People are being impacted by the long-term decline in property prices and the housing market. I recently sold my house in the Sacramento area, and I want to invest my lump-sum profit in the stock market before prices start to rise again. Is now the right moment to buy, or not?

Stocks with yields that outperform the market should be on your radar, as should shares that at least lag the market over the long term. But if you want a long-term strategy that works, I advise you to consult a broker or financial advisor.

Don't depend your market assessments and decisions on hearsay and rumors; I did it in 2020 and ended up with worthless market holdings. Before I started noticing any notable improvements in my portfolio, Helene and I had to completely rebuild it. I've been using the same advisor ever then, and in just two years I've scaled up to $876k. Depending on where you look, a bullish or down market might both produce good profits.

The removal of the Glass-Steagall Act in the late 1990s, which contributed to the dramatic failure of large banks during the financial crisis of 2007-2008, was a very unwise decision. The stock market is a complex system that is influenced by a variety of factors, including economic indicators, political events, and global trends. The relationship between policies and the stock market can be complex and multifaceted, and it can take time for the full effects of policies to be reflected in market trends. However, they realized that reputation risk/recovery does far more long-term damage, I think major banks have not yet realized that, i.e. they still think they are too big to fail.

“Why don’t we do a couple of these and see how they go? Can’t bankrupt the whole bank,” Herbert said to the firm’s president, according to an account of the conversation on First Republic’s website.
Years later, after Herbert left San Francisco Bancorp and founded First Republic, his new bank became known for handing out interest-only mortgages at rock-bottom rates to borrowers with high incomes and exceptional credit scores. Typically, they didn’t have to start repaying the principal for a decade.
Demand for the loans surged during the pandemic as wealthy buyers sought mortgage deals that would allow them to keep the bulk of their money in higher return investments. The rush helped First Republic double its assets in four years. It also contributed to its collapse.

Buffett's hatred of bitcoin has aged him a lot in the last two months. Guys like Buffett and Munger have this attitude of you either do it our way or you don't make money at all. They want people to only make money through them, their Wall Street and banking friends and the 1 percenters.
And he doesn't fully understand the meaning of intrinsic value. If having self-custody of your money and assets, as crypto allows, and being an inflation hedge, is not intrinsic value then I don't know what is. You don't need to feel a piece of thing for it to have intrinsic value. For example, a piece of computer code can have far more value to society than a plot of agricultural land.
Fiat is destroying lives in Argentina as we speak. Bitcoin is saving lives in Argentina as we speak.
