I once imagined seeing this in an arcade and how perfect it would have turned out. I'm glad someone managed to bring that imagination to reality. Thank you.
usually games like this have a grapple move that allows you to grab enemies and throw them or even objects like boulders or the vehicles which He-man has done in the cartoon... the thing that's most out of character for him is using his sword to fight as he's never done that against enemies in the cartoon. he has used his sword to block attacks and fight huge robots and cut down lasers.... but never has he swung it as a living thing or even thrown it at them. He prefers to PUNCH or wrestle.
I like He-Man for the positive message he sends. That even though he was both a prince and the most powerful man in all Eternia. He STILL stayed loyal to that horrible barber that gave him that horrendous haircut every single time. If that’s not loyalty...I don’t know what is.
Doesn't it though? Letting you play as Skeletor, when the main villian is Hordak, is a master stroke. Only thing missing is the other Thunder Cats, and the Thunder Tank to ride around in.
The genre of games is called a "side-scrolling beat 'em up." Many games including Ninja Turtles like you mentioned, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage series, Double Dragon series, X-Men the Arcade Game, etc... are all examples of them as well. Some have 1, 2, 4 or even up to 6 on screen characters fighting waves of goons with a final boss battle each level typically.
World of Retro Gameplay Well I don’t know but they would need to get the proper licensing from Mattel to sell it commercially. They’d also have to get the licensing from Warner Bros to use ThunderCats characters. The may need licenses from other companies as well.
Actually I'm more amazed that they haven't been slapped with a C&D from some pissed off corporate exec who is just jealous that they didn't think of it first. Sort of like how Bethesda shut down a fan-made "Doom Remake 4" for no fucking reason at all other than to throw their weight around.
like how FucKonami shuts down a fan made castlevania 2 remake...even though they don't even sell that game anymore and nowadays everyone knows that game was broken and unfinished and the fans could make it better but FucKonami shut it down, when instead they should have hired the people to do an official remake
It's just funny, that some of the music was used in different series, like He-man, She'ra, Thundercats, Filmations Ghostbusters & even the mysterious city of gold, it gives me chills, even after all these years...
This game looks fantastic! The only thing missing are "swoosh" graphics on the sword attacks: they help deliver the motion, and you can use the opportunity to make some sweet visual effects like lightning bolts, for example. But seriously, the graphics, animations and sound effects are spot on! The game even looks like it's played on a CRT monitor. Good job on staying true to the source material, congratulations!
i miss all theses 80s cartoons i used to wake up early everyday to watch theses cartoon when there used to be good cartoons on tv but tv sucks theses days.Nothing but crap on.
Wow! I have nit-picky issues with the character animation, but man is this cool beyond words. The fact that whoever made this was able to get the music alone is amazing in itself. This is practically Golden Axe. I would love to see a video documentary on the making of this game. P.S. a super-move like the ones in Golden Axe or Street of Rage would very cool, like He Man calling down thunder or something like that.
Let me just say MOTU is the most criminally underused license with regards to gaming, both in video games and hobby games (i.e. RPGs, LCGs, and miniature gaming)
Awesome! The details, music and animation are top notch! By seeing this gameplay I felt that the attack hitbox could be more generous since the game is very spaced, a lot of times the player attacked an empty space trying to attack enemies bellow your character.
Haha - this looks great. Especially liked that you can play as Skeletor. I think I'd just play as him from start to end. Also liked his "hurry you fools" when he starts a new life. Merman looked like a tough opponent.
Now we just need a nostalgic beat em up for Thunder cats gust staring Quick Silver from Silver Hawks and He-Man. Oh, and throw in Mako from Tiger Sharks, he needs the exposure.
Man, this game is sick wit it! They even made the characters exactly like the cartoon. I would have been considered missing as a child back in the 80s, because I would have never gotten off this game.
It's looks cool especially with lion-o in the mix lol. I look at the old He-Man, the new adventures, and the 2000 version He-Man and liked it better then all of them know why because he did use his sword to at least fight against other weapons or things plus they even put martial Arts stuff too it during the pilot episode and a few more.
Love this game, excellent job. There should have been a He-man/She-ra game that should have been in arcades during the 80-90s. If this game comes out for a PS or Xbox will buy it and play it all day, make a 80s Transformer game like this and would buy it and play it all day, love the format simple but just fun to play! Mattel wake-up!
Alex Domanovic You are talking about the rail shooter GI Joe arcade game. Not a fan made game that Ive never heard of because I own that game. I love GI Joe but that game isn’t good.
Has anyone noticed that the intro to the He-Man cartoon is like a quick session of Neuro-Lingustic Programming (NLP)? The idea is to picture someone who is a figure of confidence / inspiration to you, you imagine them surrounded by a glowing light. They / you say something positive like "I have the Power!" and then the light passes from them to you. In this case, you are Cringer, i.e the light passes into him / you, and you grows larger and stronger. I think this cartoon was a very clever & 'hidden in plain sight' way of filling kids with confidence.
I cant believe how many replies my old comment got lol. But i have to ssy seeing lion-o as a playable character just made me feel like a 5 year old again watching thundercats on saturday mornings.ahhhhh nostalgia at it's finest.
He-Man and She-Ra The Eternia Collection is now on Blu-Ray, and both the speed, and pitch of the sound, voices, and even the music heard in this game have their speed, and pitch altered back to their true NTSC region 1 speed; lowered, and slowed down by 4%. if a new update to this game ever happens, if it hasn’t already, I hope that upgrade uses the same altered speed, and pitch for this game, just as they were used for the set.
This is a super good dream of a game! And exactly what I've been craving for at LEAST ten years! My only critique would be the music. It's cool that you've wrested the original scores onto this. But some variation and more distinct songs per level as well as some original music would help the classic songs not feel like they've been playing forever. Also, I love that Lion-O is a guest character and appropriately a bit OP in his combos.
“IT IS MA’ AM!!!” LET'S GO OUTSIDE , I'LL SHOW YOU SIR!!!".....................I guess this video would have happened if the gameshop guy actually went outside
As lame as this sort of is; it is also spectacularly awesome and what always wanted to see as a kid. My 10 year old self would have lost it; if I saw this at an arcade and had a heart attack if it was a home game.
Think of how extra cool this would be if you had all the characters from HE-MAN and She-ra as well as the thundercats as well as it been set on Not just on Eternia and Etheria but 3rd Earth as well.
I love it, but Lion-O is hard mode, every time I pick him I get steamrolled. I think he's bugged with poor hitbox's, and seems to make the AI super aggressive.
People think these cartoons were ahead of their time. They weren't. Our generation can literally name Dozens of EPIC cartoons from the top of our heads of 70s 80s early 90s era. Its that since mid 90s Everybody else started to just get Lazy and rely on Computers rather than Draw or paint by hand. By the POWERrrrrr of GRAYyyyyyyy SKULLlllllll!
The Filmation style just transitions into a 2D video game perfectly. This game would have eaten up my quarters if it existed back in the day.
I once imagined seeing this in an arcade and how perfect it would have turned out. I'm glad someone managed to bring that imagination to reality. Thank you.
This game would've smashed the charts in the late 80s or early 90s. Amazing work from the guys who created this. Perfect!
Are you kidding me? This is just amazing whoever made this a wish you tons of success
Is it sad I'm 34 and still get chills from the he-man cartoon intro? Lol
Best cartoon intro ever!
diabaloth I’m 37 I do to haven’t seen that intro in god knows how many years
I'm 38.....sooooooo....nope!
Hello no, I feel like that
It'd be sad if you didn't get chills
Funny to see He-Man hit people with his sword since he never once did that in the cartoon.
Yeah, cartoon He-man was an asshole.
@@sridrawings4510 nahh, he was just an asshole.
@Bosses Crusher They straight up banned Michaelangelo's nunchuck in later episodes; that's why he runs around throwing ropes at enemies.
they sort of got around it by making the foot clan soldiers all robots
and then rick and morty made a joke based on that
He was a raving homosexual
Holy shit 80's cartoons in the vein of Golden Axe
I'm kicking myself for not thinking of this sooner
This is pretty awesome.
The amount of work that goes into a game like this is astounding.
I watched He-Man when I was a kid, awesome show, and awesome fan made game, I wish it became an Arcade game to play.
if this was an arcade game in the mid 80s everyone would go insane... ;-)
@panicman10 The gaming industry is smart, genius in fact, but they also lack vision and prefer cookie-cutter approaches to making money.
@panicman10 That ship will hit a rock sooner or later. Gamers are slowly getting hip.
yeah me too.
This is an amazing game but they missed He-man signature move: Picking guys and tossing them at lakes...
usually games like this have a grapple move that allows you to grab enemies and throw them or even objects like boulders or the vehicles which He-man has done in the cartoon... the thing that's most out of character for him is using his sword to fight as he's never done that against enemies in the cartoon. he has used his sword to block attacks and fight huge robots and cut down lasers.... but never has he swung it as a living thing or even thrown it at them. Thats a finish him move!!
@@Dragnmastralex in other words, he is a prince of less lethal force. He may beat the crap out of you, but he doesn't use the sword to actually kill.
@@Patricio4Christ Unless he's fighting Skeletor or Hordak, then he usually uses it going off memory.
Love the music and the sound effects, they even used recordings of the voice actors.
My son loved Heman he had all the figures
I like He-Man for the positive message he sends. That even though he was both a prince and the most powerful man in all Eternia. He STILL stayed loyal to that horrible barber that gave him that horrendous haircut every single time. If that’s not loyalty...I don’t know what is.
Lol.
Agreed, the royal barber definitely sucks shit and I would've had him beheaded long ago. That's just me though
You can tell this game was a labor of love. It looks fantastic, I salute you hard work and passion. Looking forward to playing it!
This looks like the game I dreamed of as a kid 😂
Doesn't it though? Letting you play as Skeletor, when the main villian is Hordak, is a master stroke.
Only thing missing is the other Thunder Cats, and the Thunder Tank to ride around in.
It looks like the game I've dreamed of an an ADULT.
I’d stop playing today’s games for this!
This game reminds me of the Ninja Turtles arcade game from back in the day. Similar style game play with option of 4 players as well....very cool
The genre of games is called a "side-scrolling beat 'em up." Some have 1, 2, 4 or even up to 6 on screen characters fighting waves of goons with a final boss battle each level typically.
Why wasn’t this concept picked up by a dev group; reprogrammed with Unity; and then sold commercially? I would buy this in a heartbeat!
World of Retro Gameplay Well I don’t know but they would need to get the proper licensing from Mattel to sell it commercially. They’d also have to get the licensing from Warner Bros to use ThunderCats characters. The may need licenses from other companies as well.

The gameplay looks like the old game "Golden Axe"
Das ist wahr!
i miss all theses 80s cartoons i used to wake up early everyday to watch theses cartoon when there used to be good cartoons on tv but tv sucks theses days.Nothing but crap on.
True.
lol ya me too. I would love waking up early on Saturdays just to watch cartoons even if i was sleepy and tired.
Wow. Great job. This looks professional as if it where a actual arcade hit. True to lore art and sound. This is fantastic.
I’m shocked there was never a HE-MAN arcade back in the day like the Turtles, Simpson’s and x men, this would work well today!

Wow, what a smooth move. Really well made. They put love into this game.
If I saw this back in the 80s as an Arcade in Showbiz Pizza, it would have BLEW MY 3rd grade MIND
Awesome! The details, music and animation are top notch!
By seeing this gameplay I felt that the attack hitbox could be more generous since the game is very spaced, a lot of times the player attacked an empty space trying to attack enemies bellow your character.
Man; if this were an officially licensed PS4 game, I'd play it all of the time!
This does look pretty impressive, for a 'fan game' !
This is the video I’ve seen in a while. I can’t imagine how in love I would have been if this came out in the late 80s when I was growing up
Man, that intro alone is just powerful! Oh, nostalgia...
And the game looks pretty good too.
The best thing of this game is that Bwwd had made all the character frames from the scratch.
Haha - this looks great. Especially liked that you can play as Skeletor. I think I'd just play as him from start to end. Also liked his "hurry you fools" when he starts a new life. Merman looked like a tough opponent.

My favorite thing about this.... the music.
There are more frames of animation in the first 30 seconds of gameplay than in the entire run of the show.
This game would have been very popular if it was in the arcades in the 90s.
Wow, this is sick, didnt excepted this quality for a fan game

The best He-Man game out of all He-Man games.
Brings me back to the old simpsons, Shazam, and ninja turtles 4 player arcade games....I'd love to own this!!!
Shazam!?? Explain. There is no old school Shazam game that I have ever seen. So,I did a google search and nada.
This is an absolute masterpiece!
I love that Lion-O is in this game. It's just so delightfully random! LOL
This is great . Love that it sticks to the original and has a lot of the original cast members from Eternia and Etheria.
This needs to come to psn. Awsome game.
I dropped out of openbor a number of years ago (drifted out of it but never lost interest), still glad to see it up and kicking. This Pak looks great!

This reminds of Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow over Mysteria.
Mystara?
mehioh1 yes. Thank you for the correction.

Impressed with the lineup. Especially Lion-O lol 😂
funny how much kicking and inverted moves she-ra does while wearing a miniskirt, lol
Absolutely fantastic work of Art.
I love how they use music from the cartoon for the different levels
