Want to see Easter on another Greek island? Check out Easter in Tinos! ruclips.net/video/ivbAtGHMj3s/видео.html
The very best Easter i have ever done was in Syros last year.( the same year you were too )!
Beautiful island beautiful people .
Beautiful video.. the ending is is the epitome of what the Greek untranslatable word 'filotimo' means 😊
Thank you! It really was. They acted liked I was family.
Amazing! What a beautiful island, staying with the customs of their ancestors!
Thanks! It really is stunning and so are the people.
I like the time-lapsed boats cruising along
Thank you! I was so happy I caught them.
Actually Ermoupolis ... the main town beneath Catholic Ano Syros, was largely established within the last two centuries. It received refugees from various parts of the Greek world during the Greek War of Independence but grew mainly post independence. There was a conscious neo-classical bias in its architecture (as was the case with much 'high' architecture in the new Greek state. As such there is not much 'Venetian' influence here other than whatever impact the Venetian element may have had on neo-classicism. In many respects the older Catholic 'Upper town' (Ano Syros) retains many characteristics reminiscent of other Cycladic islands.
Syros is on my list!
You will love it!
I admire how 😊easily you slip into each place you visit.
Thank you!
Syros is my favorite island too! I've been there two years in a row and will go again this year. You should check out Chios stone villages next
Lucky you!
Thank you for the return to Syros. It is a busy island. I always enjoyed my time there.
You’re welcome!
I love Syros. Thanks for sharing your experience!
You’re welcome!!
Χριστός Ανέστη Tiffany.
Keep those fantastic videos coming.
Don’t know if you have any Greek heritage in your family, but either way you’re a Greek at heart!
Αληθώς Ανέστη! Thank you. Not Greek by blood unfortunately.
Hristos Anesti and Hronia polla Tiffany
Alithos Anesti!
Looooooooooooved the video
Thank you so much!
🙏
😊😊
One of the best time to come to Greece is at Eastern period.Anywhere in Greece, you will feel the spirit of Eastern in full.Syros island is the only place on earth where Catholics and Orthodox celebrate together Eastern every year.I hope after 900 years of separation, one day we will unite together and celebrate the most important Holly Days of Christianity together.Cheers from Athens ,Greece.
It really is! I love Easter in Greece.
syros is my favourite island. Enjoy!!
I can see why! I loved it too.
Great video 💯! Enjoy my country ❤
Thank you!
Loved this video! So interesting about the Catholics and Greek Orthodox celebrating Easter at the same time - together! Beautiful churches and amazing services. Makes me want to be in Greece during my Orthodox Easter. Also loved the video you did last year on Tinos. My cousin actually went there for Easter this year. Glad you got to celebrate with a local family. I also got the feeling watching this video that you are a Greek at heart!
Thank you! It’s so amazing to be here then. I hope your cousin enjoyed it. Well I am trying my hardest!
Finally sitting down with a glass of wine to enjoy this video. I was so looking forward to this one 😊
The first meal looked incredible and the second even better 🤤
How far is Syros from Athens?
Oh yeah, waiting at Tinos was quite the adventure 😅😆
Oh my, I am so happy you got invited to an Easter celebration with locals 😊
Oh nice! I had such amazing food there. On the fast ferry, 2.5 hours and the slow about 4. This is from Piraeus. Going to the locals house was the best part!
What a lovely video, Tiffany. I love Syros. Your video made me very nostalgic to return. I remember the climb to Ano Syros so very well, the steps and the views. I also think I enjoyed eating there more than anywhere I traveled in Greece. It is silly to think you have a favorite island, but Syros might be mine. It is beautiful in a special way, and your video captured it well. I remember coming into the harbor on a ferry from Mykonos, and being so moved by the city is the light that I got off and stayed a night and day before coming back to Athens to catch my flight home. I didn't see many other tourists when i was there, and it was less expensive that Mykonos, certainly. So I appreciated that about it. Keith
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. It’s such a lovely island. And that view from the ferry is stunning.
Thank you for sharing this! ❤
Thank you for watching!
Hi Tiffany!
Thank you so much for the fantastic video and little Easter trip that we took Thanks to you!
I watched so many travel videos, but found yours ,as the one of the most informative, interesting and fun.
I would be very thankful if you can advise what would be the best places to visit in Greece in 2 weeks end of June and beginning of August.
I am planning a little vacation with my 15 years daughter from Los Angeles!
I was thinking that History,Nature,Architecture, excelente cousin and fantastic see side would something that we will explore during our trip.
Thank you so much, your big fan Izabella.
I am planning to travel with my 15 years old daughter to Greece in the middle of July for 2weeks.
Hi! You're welcome. I would say Naxos is a good option. Or Sifnos if you want less crowds.
An other awesome vlog, I feel you need sponsorship for walking shoes as you do so much and would be a great advertisement
Thank you! Haha. I did all this in a pair of Keds slip on sneakers. They have great insoles. Summer will need some new shoes though.
Great video ! Loved the ending especially. Thank you.
Thank you! That was special for sure.
I like how you embrace the Greek culture and are respectful of the traditions.
I’m still deciding where to spend August 15th. I’ll be in Samos around that time, but thought about going back to Athens for it. I think you made a video on it. I’ll need to look for it.
Thank you! It’s pretty quiet in Athens for the 15. But I like it.
Too quite, better in a Greek island, Tinos, Ikaria or Paros preferably. For all these islands the 15th of August is a very important celebration.
You should had gone for "Anastasi" to " Ananstasi Orthodox church ⛪ " . Flares and dynamites makes a war zone.
Thank you for your content. I just love it. I’ll be in Greece in 4 weeks. Can’t wait
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching
14:56 ah that time of the year again, not that one, the other one with the really good food
the shipyards of Syros are owned by an American company and are also a small American community
That’s interesting. Wonder why
Holy Hillwork! Going to get on a treadmill and max out the inclination. Little different than my "flatter than a pita" South Florida 😬
Right! Greece is very hilly so your legs will get a workout. Haha! Flatter than a pita!
The grandfather of Tesla cars😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Were there any firecrackers or dynamite used? If so, when during that period?
Firecrackers on Saturday night mostly. A few random ones through the week.
Hello, I hope all is well. Is it possible for first timers to explore Athens without a rental? Either by walking? Or cheaper transportation?
I don't recommend a car rental in Athens. You can walk most places or take public transportation.
@@agirlandherpassport thank you so much for your help! Do you know where I could find out about Greece healthcare for Americans visit? For a situation were something happened and had to go to the hospital.
Any hospital will treat you. If something were to happen, ask your hotel to recommend one.
@@agirlandherpassport okay, thank you. I’m curious how does the billing process work? Would we have to pay them out of pocket or wait until we get back in America?
If you don’t have travel insurance, you would have to pay before you leave the hospital.
Hi can I be your editor?
I’m not looking for an editor but thanks
Nice video...however a lot of misinformation about Ermoupolis and its history . NOTE : Ermoupolis was not built by the Venetians ...but by 20,000 refugees ,many of them wealthy that arrived in Syros in 1822 from the destruction of the island of Chios, Psara, Smyrna and other Asian minor Greek communities by the Ottomans Turks .Only Ano Syros was built by the Venetians that arrived in the island in 1207 .
