    Thanks for doing this. There are only around 13 of these worldwide and a third of them are just hills or basins. I'm even more glad I asked you to autograph my map years ago lol.

    Grizzly Bear lunch break surprise, eh?! Wow, mega-fauna and then some: Three Bull Elk, three Grizzly with pretty blonde colouring and then three Bull Moose all in one day! That’s a hat trick x 3! Fun & beautiful hike footage. Thanks Jake

    2002 did a two nighter from around that historic ranger stationnear st marys to cut bank via triple divide pass. . looks like that area received from the 2006 fire, if my memory serve me there was one there on my second trip . looks very doable and fun, might put that on list for next time.

    This is absolutely one of my favorite hikes in Glacier. I went in mid to late June and there were definitely some pretty sketch snow packs covering the trail. Crazy how much wildlife you saw.

      I can imagine! That wall you traverse is pretty steep with some nice gullies. They can get sneaky sketch!

    In 2011 my son and I went over Triple Divide Pass as a part of a 4 night backpack. You're right, that's a beautiful area...just like so many in this wonderful place.
    On September 6th, the day of this video, my backpacking buddy and I broke camp at Gable Creek and returned to the Chief Mountain Trailhead after a single night in the backcountry. We had planned Gable Creek, Mokowanis Lake, Stoney Indian, Kootenai Lake but the sciatica I had hoped could be controlled with pharmacuticals let me know on the morning of the 6th that I should turn around before I became "that guy".
    The 6th was a beautiful day in Glacier. Glad your encounter with the grizzlies was a non-event. In 2011 we just dealt with some agressive marmots. They REALLY wanted to chew on our pack straps.
    I have been to Glacer over 20 times but my buddy hadn't been there before. We went to Many Glacier on the way back to Kalispell on the 6th. We got a room in Kalispell for the remainder of our time in Montana: Drove to Two Medicine on the 7th and to the North Fork and Bowman Lake on the 8th - Polebridge Mercantile is always a delight. On the 9th drove up to Logan Pass and managed to find a parking spot at 1 pm which allowed us to take in Hidden Lake and some Big Horned Sheep rams. Got back to Georgia on the 10th.
    I have been following you since you hiked all the trails in Glacier over a decade ago. Thank you for of your excellent videos!

      Well first of all, sorry that your trip had to end so soon. Always tough calls. Might need to stick to day hikes with the lighter packs moving forward. Glad you guys were able to get out. Thanks for sticking around. Hope to keep putting out cool stuff... oh and our most aggressive animal so far this year? A male Spruce Grouse. It jumped up and tried to claw and peck my pants. Bro was crazy in the head!

    What I like about your videos: 1. You and your wife hike, but make it seem like it is no big deal (to give me hope). 2. Show the map of your trip. 3. Tell us when you hiked. 4. Name the birds, fauna, and animals. 5. ....

    • @hike734

      Oh there is suffering to be sure. Our biggest mistake we make is thinking we'll be at X point to have lunch. We end up there at 2pm all hangry and wishing we would have found a good rock/log to sit up on two hours earlier!

    You had one great day on the mountain by the way how many pika did you see and on the east coast the hawk migration is heating up

    • @hike734
      @hike734  Год назад

      Funny enough we didn’t see any pikas! We heard them and then, near the pass, didn’t take any time to spy them. Had a Sharp-shinned Hawk and a Northern Harrier soar by. Seemed like migrators. Do you do hawk watches over there? I’ve heard the Broad-winged Hawk sites are insane!!
