- This time we look at a disasterous knock off of the Masterpiece Ratchet. While we all know the KO game can be hit or miss, this one is exceptionally bad with scratches, breakages and out-right filth. It is a shame too as the potential was there to be better. However, I do wonder about several of the engineering choices and how well they work on the real deal. Check out all the details and see what you think for yourself.

The rear wheel thing happened to mine as well. You can fix it by pushing out the pin and then gluing the split pieces back together. Then use a cylindrical grinder to open up the hole before inserting the pin again. Also sand down slightly so that you can move the two hinges a little more freely.
The rear wheel transformation works fine after that.
I literally have no idea how to remove pins or what a cylindrical grinder is but it us infinitely more wo4k that something "perfect" should need lol. That said, the guy who owns this fig does know how to do everything you said so I will forward your fix to him. Thanks, on his behalf
nerve racking isnt it lol! all of this guys was all problems that were shown to dennis the moment it arrived. show z did amazing on their end and i even ordered a nice 4th party megatron which isnt a mess like our poor pal ratchet here!

He was suxh an unfortunate story. But, I agree, ShowZ did right by you and yhat's commendable.
What's sad about this is, the QC of the KO MPs is not that far off from the original. Sometimes, the KO is much more sought after than the original because of improvements (rubber wheels, improved joints, etc), like in the case of MP-25.
Agreed, and as I said, I too have looked at a few well done KO versions. Sadly, this was not one of them.
Wow that's pretty bad. I have the KO Sunstreaker and it's really nice. Hit an miss for sure. Great review!

The thing with KO's is you're taking a QC gamble...I've been lucky because I have this & the Ironhide KO with zero QC problems...also don't 4get when this figure came out vs the mainline figures of that time...a better comparison to the WFC figures would be MP Hound as far as look of the character...ShowZ always takes care of their costumers & they're far better than Hasbro in that department imo...
This was never going to be very good. Some awful design choices That said, MP had never had 1 percent appeal to me in abny way, shape or form. I made an accurate comparison because wfc is by no means any better than Peime Wars either, just want more overpriced with an ankle. As for QC gamble, sonis Hasbro. Watch N-PUT 's video. 30 percent of wfc until now hsve known widespread QC issues.
Good review. I have the Sme KO, and only had slight problems with it, you should take a look at how mine went. I am so sorry yours had so many issues.
I am shocked this left the factory. It can't be representative of widespread but who the hell put this on a box and thought yeah, this is okay lol.
Sounds like someone along the retail chain gave it his kid or let it be a demo model, repackaged it back, and sold as new.
It takes some effort to get something dirty and make wearing marks. More than the quick seconds each unit gets being manufactured.
I suspect you are right. The odd part was tape seemed factory sealed.
Always enjoy your reviews this one did not disappoint. i remember watching a ton of reviews for KO wheeljack before i got him ,so i knew i was potentially getting myself into. i guess i got lucky because all the issues i saw on vids were not present in my copy. i'ts a crap shoot with KO'S.
Always is but some are great. This was an amazingly bad copy.
Welding Ironhide? More like welding Wheeljack back together after one of his experiments blows up in his face (and puts another hole in the Ark)

I ordered sideswipe from China on ebay they sent me 2 sideswipes and an ironhide I then go a ratchet and both mine are great . Love the transformation too I think its cool but both of mine are in great condition makes a difference. Oh I sold my extra sideswipe for the price I paid for the 1 I ordered so I basically got a sideswipe and iromhide for 0 dollars
Nice! That was a good break with Sideswipe. Even if this worked right, I detest the transformation and some design choices. I also dislike some articulation limits, but I've never cared for anything from the MP line. I generally don't find them very good. This was especially bad though.
@@DennisMoultonAKAGotBot I get that I actually never had a problem transforming the versions I have and liked that it was a van mode that actually did the transformation with no part forming im sure that another 3rd party company would do it better today but so far I don't think any other company has
The official is tight on those wheels but never had any issue with it before selling him. Also this is one of the easier/simpler(may not be easy on the KO haha) of the newer masterpiece transformations so I’d love to see you working with some other recent stuff haha

I considered ordering this figure when I saw it. I have never bought a KO, so I was hesitant. That could have just been a really bad copy, but why gamble on it. If mine arrived like that I wouldn't be happy at all. Thanks for the review.
At least the retailer gave full store credit. I respect that.

My KO of Ratchet was at least as good as the official. On the other hand, both KO Bumblebees that I bought were garbage.

Certain official ones have gotten cracks too I'm sure. Of the 11 mps that I have some of them have cracks or breakages. So the kos doesn't surprise me here. Mps are overrated. I quit buying them 5 years ago.
I have never bought them for this among other reasons. I don't care for the line on the least, never did
😮Even more shocking than all the QC issues is that they’re identical to mine. So no, not used. Just a knock-off of a knockoff. Terrible 😣

Atleast he got full adore credit and used it to purchase another item. This thing never should have left the factory in this condition.
My KO Ratchet's pretty okay. It's definitely better than my piece of crap KO Ironhide. He didn't even come with the right face.

Agreed. But they're unlikely to. If they have to pull back on prices just to get back to even they'll be cost-cutting. I.e. no QC improvement to look forward to
