It's so nice to see that our small city is liked by so many people from the whole world. When I was a kid I've been always telling my parents that Amberg is the most beautiful city in the world and they always told my "lil kid you've seen so less things". Now I'm living in Atlanta and I'm sure that I will one day be returning to that lovely city....I've seen so many cities, small and big cities, and from all these small cities, Amberg is by far the most beautiful one. I don't know what the hell is the thing on Amberg that catched me this much...but I can tell, I love that romantic lil city

I'd say its nostalgia from when you were a child that's got you attracted to Amberg so much. Like the saying goes, "you can take the person out of the jungle, but you can't take the jungle out of the person".
Although, this loosely applies in this circumstance. But the main point is that, childhood nostalgia for objects, people, & places will carry over into our lives (and the next for that matter) as when we are children we become attached and highly impressionable based on the people, places, & things we interact with.
That's why I think that no matter where you may find yourself in life, you can never forget your roots :D

I love this town. When our daughter was a DODDS teacher and lived here, we would visit. We still remember the beauty and friendliness of this heaven on earth.

I fell in love with this little town while serving with the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry (USA) based there in the late 1960s. Hope to take my wife there some day! Special memories renewed by your video.

I was stationed there 83-84. went back to visit in 2000 and the entire post is gone for the most part. The mess hall still stands and is a grocery store, my old I troop barracks are there but now a kindergarten. They saved the block off the front gate with the eagle with a nice plaque outlining the history of Pond Kassirne. Other than that, if you did not know, you would never know A military post was ever there.

This video has brought back old memories. If have always stayed at the "Altstadt-Hotel" in Amberg when I had to do a TDY business-day at Vilseck during my time as German local national in the U.S. Army in Germany back in the 80's of the last century.

Excellent video! The time lapse at the end from the Mariahilfe Berg is especially nice. Amberg is kind of like a secret jewel. I visited there for the first time on a business trip in 1984. I don’t know if it’s still the case, but at that time the “Stadtmauer” city wall went around the whole city, and that’s rare to find in the present. The sunken walking path outside of the wall is where the moat used to flow. Amberg also has the distinction of having never been bombed. That means it’s authentic, not a “Disney-like” rebuild or reconstruction (like Munich... but I love Munich anyway). One of the major employers in Amberg, Grammer, was founded as a horse saddle manufacturer more than 100 years ago (way more, I think) and now they are a modern manufacturer of industrial seating. I think that’s kind of a neat fact and fits to the sense of continuity you feel in Amberg. I was also impressed with your fast flow through the narrow streets that the city is still not yet dominated with parked cars. There used to be a McDonalds within the city center and you could only find it by looking at the burnished bronze “M” that hung outside.

I am german but i have never been in Amberg. This were some nice impressions of the city and its surroundings. Well made video! It's a shame that your videos only get few clicks. Maybe more comments on the videos by the viewers will help to outsmart the youtube algorithm, because the few clicks are for sure not a product of lack of quality of the content. In my opinion your videos are mostly as interesting as for example the vids of the "american-german" vloggers Nalf or Montana Showalter.

    There's even a saying.

Passau is the richest [City] and Amberg is the firmest [City] (As it was never occupied by enemy forces for most of the time

@@yasminesteinbauer8565 Amberg is already a good suggestion. If you want to see more famous historical cities in Bavaria you could go to Regensburg, Bamberg or Passau but there are many other cities/towns in Bavaria with an appealing historical city centre: Landshut, Straubing, Coburg, Dinkelsbühl (close to Rothenburg/Tauber), Miltenberg, Kempten, Weiden etc.
Besides that I'd recommend to go to Thuringia (Erfurt) and Saxony, especially Middle Saxony (to the cities of Meissen and Pirna) and to Eastern Saxony to the cities of Görlitz, Bautzen and perhaps to Zittau, too.
