Thanks Bret for getting back to the basics with this no hype video series. A real treat to watch these and a good refresher for even the experienced radioman.
Thank you ! Thanks for watching !
Having a nanoVNA or Rigexpert handy is a gamechanger. Doing it this way for years. Also include a full sweep to see overall how the antenna behaves.
It truly is there is so much power for the price and form factor in a NanoVNA. Thanks for watching !
@ great video. We can “see RF Impedence” across frequency range in near real time. Walk by an antenna with a screen share to your laptop or bluetooth to RigExpert… and see that everything affects everything as David C says.
I one made a antenna tuner using the exact same components.
Gave it to a friend asi never used it.
Still pretty cool
Yes this one belongs to a friend of mine who built it in the late 60's. You will see more of this tuner in upcoming content. Thanks for watching !
That sure beats trying to tune up over the air!
100% It's nauseating all of the auto tuner QRM that goes on over the air as well. I have a field notes for all of my manual tuners that has the settings for my various antennas to give me a starting point. The little NanoVNA helps me dial it in. Thanks for watching !
Your finals will thank you also 😁
Thanks for watching !
Quit tuning up on the damn DX station! Lotsa hams will turn their noses up at legacy tuners, but they can often be cheaply had at local hamfests. They can be crudely tuned by listening to the receiver's noise level, but with a NanoVNA they become great addition to your shack.
100% It is a real problem ! Thanks for watching !
