Regarding the Chevrolet Lumina, years ago when new I owned that "high performance model" mentioned at 10:23. It was a 1992 Lumina Z34. (google it- images). It was a 3.4L twin dual overhead cam engine and although I had the optional 4 speed auto transmission, a German made 5 speed manual transmission was standard. Surprisingly, I remember "racing" a black Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe and seeing it in my rear view mirror after a few seconds. But I loved my Lumina then. It was the top of the line and it had a really nice factory equipped Bose sound system with an 400 watt amplifier mounted under the back dash. Great car, great memories.
The Galante VR4 was sweet car. Never had one but been in them before. The ride feels luxurious but sporty. Very nice on less than perfect roads. Cars were smooth but snappy. If I had the chance to get a good deal on one of them, I wouldn't even hesitate.
I worked as a ski instructor in VT in the mid 90s and one of my colleagues had one of these that we commuted to the mountain in. It was fast, comfy, and with AWD and snow tires it was fantastic for these purposes. Loved it then, would have a clean one with a stick now. Def an underrated sleeper and early AWD sedan standout…
I had 2 Geo Metro’s. I bought my first 1 new as a 94 year model. In only 2 years I put 210K miles on it. It was more reliable than my Honda. Life changed for me in 96 so I bought another one. In 96 I bought my 2nd one. I drove it for 13 years but it had only 95K on it when I sold it. ALL 3cyl Metro’s burned 1/2 a quart of oil between oil changes. They were extremely reliable.
Funny story about the Lumina. My grandfather’s neighbor bought one and he asked me what that car was. I said “It’s a Chevy Lumina,” which he responded “Hell, they’re all made out of aluminum these day!”
I have fond memories of the Geo Metro. Not because I owned one but a friend did and we used to get a few guys, pick it up and put it in odd places it was impossible to drive out of! 😆
The Geo Metro was not a Colt based car, ( Colt is a Mitsubishi actually ) but rather based on the Suzuki Swift. Mitsubishi worked with Chrysler at the time and rebranded the Mitsubishi Colt, the Dodge Colt in America. GM worked with Suzuki, and sold the Suzuki Swift, as the Geo Metro in America
I had a 1991 Geo Metro with a stick shift, radio and a/c which worked great for almost 10 years and it did everything right for me especially being a hatchback and gas mileage was great. Sure, it wasn’t the fastest car on the road but it did ok for my every day trip to work and back home. Occasionally I would drive over 100 miles in my Geo Metro to visit my son and the return trip just as long with no problems what so ever. The car was easy to work on and I took really good care of it. To be honest it was one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. Forget it, I don’t think so.
The 1977 to 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark Vs were not the "dark days" for the Lincoln Division...in fact they are beautiful classics and sold in great volume. However, the Mark VIII was somewhat of a letdown after the better styled and better built 1984 to 1992 Mark VII LSC.
I agree, I had a Mark Vll that I loved & then I got a Mark Vlll & I was very disappointed, I'm glad that I didn't trade in the Mark Vll. I sold the Mark Vlll after a couple of years & continued to drive the Mark Vll.
My 1990 Chevy Lumina I bought new was the most dependable car I ever had. 336,000 Mi I put on it before I sold it to a co-worker who still drove it for another four or five years until his daughter totaled it. Mine was a blue metallic with blue interior four-door with a 3.1 L V6 and AC. Yes it was the grandpa golfing sedan but it was impossible to be seen by the cops when speeding because they would not believe it could go that fast LOL
Good movie about the EV1 called "Who killed the electric car" on Prime. Thought for sure the Pontiac Aztec would be on the list, but then again pretty obvious choice.
I'd still love to own a Trans sport! Finding one with "full-extras" in good condition, is a challenge (and I'm also not willing to pay for it more than its worth today).
GM also had the audacity to make a 2 door Lumina and call it a Monte Carlo. It didn't fool anyone and was an insult to the generations of Montes that preceded it.
I was stationed in Germany in the 90's for seven straight years. I became use to the cars that ran up and down the Autobahns. I lost track of most American type brands. However, due to the fact that my young family expanded and were growing up I found that I needed something larger than my POS Ford Escort. I was trying to get into a Chevy Lumina or Transport or better yet a Previa. I ended up buying a Plymouth Voyager in early '92. I loved the Transport but couldn't secure enough $$... The Voyager turned out to be a great car for my needs which took me to Spain a dozen times until I was stationed in Idaho then around the west. There I traded it for a 2000 Mazda MPV. Eleven years ago I was trying to buy another Minivan and ended up buying a Dodge Journey. No going back to Minivans.
I loved the lines on the 1991 to 1993 mercury Capri and always wanted one. I got a 93 in 2000. It was a stick and I loved everything about it but the top. It wasn't had to work just a pain because of all the things you have to do to put it down and up. Would have loved to have kept it but after owning it for 7 years, it spent was beginning to spend as much time at the garage as I had it home waiting for nornal wear and tear replacement parts. I replaced it with a 05 maita. Still have it. Nothing against the maita but I still wish I had the Capri
Hmm.... I do not know about the list. I disagree about Lincoln Mark VIII( 8). I liked Mark VIII( 8). I do not agree with this one being on the list. I like the looks of it better than Mark VII(7). Interesting choices. The Lumina sold well too. It was replaced by the Impala at Chevrolet. I do appreciate the fact you stated clearly about this Lumina in the United States compared the Lumina sold outside the United States by Chevrolet which was a Holden Commodore. There was the Philippine Chevrolet Lumina which was a Buick Regal. Interesting choices. The Geo Metro was a great fuel sipper. That was the one good thing about this car.
You need to do a video on Daewoo motors which released some pretty forgettable cars in the 1990's and then was purchased by GM who created in their image the equally forgettable Pontiac Lemans.
I once had a '93 Lumina sedan as a rental car on vacation in California back in the day. What a sh*tbox. It had less than 20,000 miles and the cabin carpet was loose everywhere and trim pieces were creaking and falling off.
Excellent list. Although I owned both a 90 and an 00 Lumina, and I liked both. Good dependable cars. Can we add the Hyundai Scoupe as an honorable mention?
The Geo Metro wasn't a great car, but I had a friend who owned its twin, the Suzuki Swift GTi. That was a cool little car; it had little real power but the power to weight ratio was surprisingly good, meaning it was quicker than expected (though not really fast). Where it shined was in its handling. That little car with a tuned suspension and grippier tires could stick the corners better than almost anything else out there. He had it for a number of years, then wore it out and we lost touch.
I have a Chevy lumina. Four-door sedan I think it was a 1999. I don't remember. I still have it and stop driving it because I need replaced all everything on the front end and I plan to do so. This car gets 35 miles a gallon has plenty of pickup and go. That mentioned it gets 35 mi a gallon for four or five people in the car. You probably put six in there if you had some small people. I've known several people have had these over the years. They've been great cars. There's some years you don't want other years that work out good. Anyway I like to del Sol trouble is my head would stick out over the windshield and that little Mercury Capri or cougar whatever it's called a convertible. They have a following and they have a collective collector value. But what I've noticed we ought to be buying these up because what was it like back in the day is now drooled over and sought after! If you want some older examples. 1968 Chevy pickup. They used to make them look like to 72 Chevy pickups now they take to 72s and make them look like 68 simply by changing the front clip of the truck. Also 63 Impala. The 64 Impala was the heavenly saw after but no longer. And a 61 Chevy Parkwood station wagon hauled out of the field and it sells for $16,000! What are you getting into soon so maybe some of those minivans will be collectible in the future I don't see it. But nobody saw some of the collector value cars now back then. I found the episode interesting
I like this video. But I have to admit, this was a midlife crisis moment that raised a question. Do I want to forget the cars, or should I push harder to forget the commercials?
the transport is one of the best i have in stock of the 16 cars i have its a 95 with the 3800 ,,power sliding door an it drives like new ..not for sale
The Car on the Thumbnail in the Center Bottom is a 1993 Chrysler LeBaron. I own one and it looks exactly like the one in the thumbnail. I bought mine on September 1st 2020 at 66,333 miles and it was my first car EVER. I drive it daily to the present
🤦🏽♂️I CANNOT BE THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THESE "BROTHERS" ARE NOT AT ALL CAR SMART! Ive tried to like this channel i REALLY have but my God, they just say sh!t to say it.
Are you serious? The geometro/Suzuki swift was a great and very reliable little run about out lasting lasting almost anything else in its class. Here in Miami there are still tons of these little metro hatchbacks and a couple convertibles zipping around town.
How dare you say the Del Sol should be forgotten. It was way more reliable and leaked way less than Miata’s. I have owned both and I liked the targa roof and the power back window
Well, poor people often keep their pickup trucks for a long time. It's exspensive to purchase new. Still have my 90's pickups. Sometimes turning down offers for them.

80s and 90s were amazing, so were the cars!
great music , MTV

Ironically enough, the Del Sols are becoming a bit of a collectors item.
I had 2 Geo Metro’s.

Right!! These dudes are clowns "the SER's sporty brother" VR4 is forgotten and should be Every vid is like this smh
i think he said the Suzuki CULTIS, not COLT. The Cultis was exactly the same as the Swift - the Swift was named the Cultis in Japan.

@@christopherkraft1327 The air suspension was problematic in the Mark VII but I admired the rest of the car.
BEST in 1990's was the Chrysler LeBaron, you could still get a VERY comfortable car in a 2-door coupe style!!
My 1990 Chevy Lumina I bought new was the most dependable car I ever had. 336,000 Mi I put on it before I sold it to a co-worker who still drove it for another four or five years until his daughter totaled it. One 90s car that I used to see everywhere, that I haven't seen at all in at least a decade is the Nissan Stanza
You guys are nuts the mark 8 was an amazing car
I had a 90 Chevy Lumina Euro Sedan with a 3.1 and a 92 Chevy Lumina sedan with the 3.4 24 valve. I loved the performance of both of them.
Good movie about the EV1 called "Who killed the electric car" on Prime. Thought for sure the Pontiac Aztec would be on the list, but then again pretty obvious choice.
It wasn't from the 90s.
Lincoln Mark Viii -So beautiful!

ford tempo 90-94 , ford countor 95-99 and the mercury clones topaz , mystic

Fun video. A first gen Dodge Neon would fit well in this category. The DOHC 5 speeds were a blast.
Along with best car of the year, I wish you would make best car of the decade for every decade. That would be epic.
I loved the lines on the 1991 to 1993 mercury Capri and always wanted one. I got a 93 in 2000. It was a stick and I loved everything about it but the top. What about Daihatsu I think it was the Rocky and the charade

I like this video. But I have to admit, this was a midlife crisis moment that raised a question. Do I want to forget the cars, or should I push harder to forget the commercials?
Remember the Suzuki X-90 ? ........Yeah not many do.
Yep. Looked like a roller skate. So did the 1st generation Rav4. 😂
First car i bought with financing was a 1991 Geo Metro 5 door hatchback auto and air.
the transport is one of the best i have in stock of the 16 cars i have its a 95 with the 3800 ,,power sliding door an it drives like new ..not for sale

The Galant had a "vicious" differential!! 🤣
The Ford Motor company vehicles with the 4.6L are great cars. Mine had 450k miles on it and I sold it and it still drove around for a year after that.
Had a 91 Suzuki Swift. If you want backlash. Put the Metro on your lists. They have a cult following and were a great car.
The b16 del sol were a riot.

No neon? I thought for sure the “hi” car would make it. I loved my 95, but it was Chrysler at its worst!
The Mercury Cougar was THE CHICK car of the 1990's, taking the crown from the VW Rabbit cabriolet in the 1980's.

I learned how to drive a manual only AFTER the salesman taught me how to drive my newly purchased 1993 Honda Civic Del Sol. It was a fun car! 🚗 💨
Cool 🥰
Nah. Everything was rad except for the Trans Port, the del sol, and the Lumina.
"These cars sucked"
