I'm so proud that 12 yr old me was right about being team Peeta since the first book. Peeta is literally the pillar of strength and security for katniss he's the reason why katniss kept on living. Peeta cared katniss as a person, unlike gale, who only cared for katniss as a symbol for the rebellion.
I used to be team gale but then I realized Peeta is the better man. He’s selfless, courageous, smart, kind and patient. But he also knows how to set boundaries with katniss. He knows his worth. And she sees that in him after a while. VS gale who ends up being a follower and has a hard time sacrificing himself for Katniss. Yes he loved her but his is different. Idk hard to explain. But team Peeta all the way!
It’s best explained in the book why I’m team Peeta. He represents peace and healing for her and Gale represents war and letting anger overcome you into violence. Peeta is who she needs and she even says that there was never any real choice because she and Gale would have destroyed each other.
It wasn't his fault. It was his plan but he NEVER intended for it to be used on anyone except enemy soldiers. He was manipulated and taken advantage of.

While Peeta's love is like a dandelion in first day of spring. It was love that reminds her of a fresh start and hope. And that's what she really need. Besides, Peeta liked her first. And he was also the one who stayed.

But from what I recall this is the sequence of events: Peeta liked her since their first day of school (her father was still alive), then her father died and they almost died of starvation during winter (Peeta threw her bread) and then she had the idea to hunt in the woods when she wanted to thank Peeta but couldn't and saw a dandelion on her feet (it was the first day of spring). Then she met Gale in the woods. But even then, Gale had other girls and just see her as a hunting partner. It was only months before the reaping when Gale realized he has feelings for her.

I'm sure throwing of bread was there but I'm not sure if the cave scene include the part where Peeta confessed on liking her since kids. And I think it was shown that Gale likes her even before the reaping but the scene where he told her he like her just months before the reaping was changed.
She definitely made the right choice in choosing Peeta in catching fire she realized how much she actually loved Peeta when we literally died for like a few minutes. Like finnick says in mockingjay pt “after your 1st games I though the whole romance thing was fake. But it wasn’t until Peeta’s heart stopped I realized I had missed judged you. i was discussing this with my friend just a couple days ago and one thing she pointed out was that katniss wouldn’t even have been popular in the games had peeta not brought the spotlight on her by confessing his love for her. so, before anything else, had peeta not been the way he was, katniss literally wouldn’t even have survived because come on, she had many close calls to death and she was able to make it through because of the gifts she received (like that burn ointment). the capitol wouldn’t have noticed her and she would’ve been just a random district 12 girl. and above all, peeta loved her unconditionally. he loved her selflessly. he knew that katniss had pretended to be in love with him and he had acknowledged that and instead of getting mad, he went on to thank her because he wouldn’t have been alive if it weren’t for her. both the times he went into the games, he went with the decision of making sure that katniss made it back alive. the man was ready to die for her !! what more do you want ?? he loved her without hoping for anything back. whereas, with gale, i always felt like he owned katniss or something. he was unnecessarily jealous, had completely ignored the fact that she wouldn’t have made it back alive had she not pretended to be in love with peeta. after everything that katniss went through, she deserved someone as gentle and as loving as peeta.
Yes definitely, plus Katniss was only alive in the first place before the games and learning to hunt by herself was because of Peeta. When katniss’ father died when she was 11 and her mother completely shut down she was starving and so close to death and Peeta saw this and deliberately burned the bread to give it to her, even knowing he’ll get a beating for it. He did that wanting nothing in return which is why katniss was so confused and felt like she owed him but didn’t know how to thank him. After Katniss dropped the trackerjacker nest, Peeta got katniss to run and then turned around and attacked Cato himself to keep him away from her, that’s why he got that life threatening wound on his leg. People see peeta as useless because he’s dying and injured but they don’t realise that he only got that injury from saving Katniss’ life by taking in the toughest opponent hand to hand. Katniss got all those sponsors she did because of Peeta, Peeta didn’t get any even though he could have. That’s only because Haymitch knew Peeta wanted Katniss to be the one who lived to Haymitch chose katniss knowing this and would only spend the money from sponsors on katniss and not Peeta. To be fair Peeta did get mad at the end of the first games after finding out everything was just an act, it’s why he was so distant before the victory tour and he walked away from her on the train upset. The difference is with Peeta though is that he realised he was being unfair and apologised later on. Although I think Peeta was more upset because it was more the fact that nothing felt real to him, he was even questioning if Katniss being upset that his leg was amputated was even real or not because of how his family are he wanted someone who cared about him that much and to him it felt like Haymitch and katniss were doing everything behind his back and keeping him out of the loop… which they were, which is why he also has another huge burst of anger at Katniss and Haymitch in catching fire that was took out of the movie but that was definitely justified.

I was team Gale when I was much younger and when the movies came out- I couldn’t read the books bc I was too little to understand- but I liked Gale bc he was cute As I got older and understood and read the books, Peeta was the more obvious choice. He sacrificed so much to save Katniss- from the bread to when they were playing the game- he always stuck by Katniss- all while Gales affection turned to jealousy for Peeta

Gale didn't kill Prim intentionally though. He was a teenager radicalized by Coins personal agenda and always had the greater good of the Districts in mind. Who can really blame him for feeling indifferent about the children in the capitol as the capitol itself has done nothing but punish, torture and kill the people of the Districts? Not everyone is able to look away from that and just carry on like nothing happened.

I'm not sure if the people comparing Gale and Peeta read the books. Katniss thinks her whole family will starve following her father's death. She's given up hope and is laying in despair by a tree when Peeta throws the bread. That's in the movie too, but in the book it's more deeply explained that where he tossed the bread she also found dandelions: reminding her of the wild abundance her father taught her to find. Gale represents Katniss's fight. Peeta inspires her hope and loves her for her voice. Peeta is the reminder of love, hope, etc., that make fighting something one can handle and eventually recover from. She has enough fight. It's hope she needs
Gale way of thinking is the opposite of was Katniss wanted, Gale was a man of action, he was willing to kill inocents and even childs if they were from the capitol, even the design of the second bomb is target in to kill the person that comes to help. Someone who goes under the radar in my opinion is Plutarch Heavensbee. He was the leader behind the shadows, making sure everything was on track. He knew there’d be casualties. That’s war. But the end goal was the same. Peace.
Heavensbee was inspired by Katniss Everdeen. When he and Katniss were dancing at the Capitol, he wanted Katniss give a sign, that he shows her his clock, notice for Katniss, but she dont recognized it. And when the Island is spinning, he said stop. Plutarch always follows the plan to help Katniss and wanted to change the system of the cruel hunger games.

Guys come on gale was never even really an option. The only reason katniss ever even considered him was because she felt like she owed him that or felt like she had to because they had been such close friends. She never liked him and made that clear but she had this mindset that that was how it had to be, as if that was just the inevitable next step of having a friendship with someone like that. But as the books went on she realized that that isn’t how it has to be, you don’t have to end up liking someone just because you have been friends. like that doesn’t mean ur destined to be lovers. She realized she didn’t owe him her heart, that just because she was friends with him didn’t mean they had to be more. She realized she loved him but it didn’t have to be in that way. For a long time she thought was what love was towards certain people: owed. So with this newfound revelation she realized she REALLY did love peeta that way and not because she felt like she owed that to him but because she really came to care. Although I think Peeta was more upset because it was more the fact that nothing felt real to him, he was even questioning if Katniss being upset that his leg was amputated was even real or not because of how his family are he wanted someone who cared about him that much and to him it felt like Haymitch and katniss were doing everything behind his back and keeping him out of the loop… which they were, which is why he also has another huge burst of anger at Katniss and Haymitch in catching fire that was took out of the movie but that was definitely justified.

Gale didn't kill Prim intentionally though. He was a teenager radicalized by Coins personal agenda and always had the greater good of the Districts in mind. Who can really blame him for feeling indifferent about the children in the capitol as the capitol itself has done nothing but punish, torture and kill the people of the Districts? Not everyone is able to look away from that and just carry on like nothing happened.

I'm not sure if the people comparing Gale and Peeta read the books. Katniss thinks her whole family will starve following her father's death. She's given up hope and is laying in despair by a tree when Peeta throws the bread. That's in the movie too, but in the book it's more deeply explained that where he tossed the bread she also found dandelions: reminding her of the wild abundance her father taught her to find. Gale represents Katniss's fight. Peeta inspires her hope and loves her for her voice. Peeta is the reminder of love, hope, etc., that make fighting something one can handle and eventually recover from. She has enough fight. It's hope she needs

2) On the other hand there’s Peeta. Who since the start was in love with her and Katniss was his world. Even after being brainwashed by The Capitol and nearly killing Katniss; he would ask her whats real and not real because he only trusted her judgement instead of his own.
Someone who goes under the radar in my opinion is Plutarch Heavensbee. He was the leader behind the shadows, making sure everything was on track. He knew there’d be casualties. That’s war. But the end goal was the same. Peace.
Heavensbee was inspired by Katniss Everdeen. When he and Katniss were dancing at the Capitol, he wanted Katniss give a sign, that he shows her his clock, notice for Katniss, but she dont recognized it.
And when the Island is spinning, he said stop. Plutarch always follows the plan to help Katniss and wanted to change the system of the cruel hunger games.

I was always Team Peeta. But I read the books. I always thought people preferred Gale because they just were into Liam. Peeta is just the right pick, he has just so much heart and he is so kind. I just love that about him.
There was never a choice between Peeta and Gail. While gale was angry at Peeta for loving Katniss, Peeta was respecting of him loving her. Because that meant no matter what, Katniss would be loved. And that was enough for him. Peeta did what gale could not do. He loved her selflessly with no expectations. He loved her more. He loved her better. Gale constantly tried to force katniss into a relationship. He only loved parts of her. Peeta loved all of her, for all she was. That’s something gale could never do.

When she got selected for the hunger games she left him and he was always there for her trying to protect her family. Guys come on gale was never even really an option. The only reason katniss ever even considered him was because she felt like she owed him that or felt like she had to because they had been such close friends. She never liked him and made that clear but she had this mindset that that was how it had to be, as if that was just the inevitable next step of having a friendship with someone like that. But as the books went on she realized that that isn’t how it has to be, you don’t have to end up liking someone just because you have been friends. like that doesn’t mean ur destined to be lovers. She realized she didn’t owe him her heart, that just because she was friends with him didn’t mean they had to be more. She realized she loved him but it didn’t have to be in that way. For a long time she thought was what love was towards certain people: owed. So with this newfound revelation she realized she REALLY did love peeta that way and not because she felt like she owed that to him but because she really came to care. So stop thinking gale was ever an option he wasn’t she was just a immature girl who didn’t understand what love was.
