Armchair Thriller was a favourite of mine, although I was really too young to fully understand the plot.. I can remember High Tide, with Ian McShane's dog, The Circe Complex with Cat Devlin(!) Rachel in Danger with the Mini Cooper, Fear Of God, with The Regiment Of God, The Black Nun and my Favourite, Dying day with Mr Skipling overhearing a plot to kill him.
Mr Morris was one of the good guys and Robert Robinson's voice transports you instantly back in time.

Being a rather timorous child, I would love to see you make a collection of TV that scared us to this day. I can start you off with 1) The boy from space, from the series "Look and read" which was shown in our school by rolling out a TV into the assembly hall. 2) "The changes" that made me scared to say "Merlin" and instead insisted to whatever was in my bedroom that I said Mervyn, as in Mervyn Day, the West Ham goal keeper at the time. (Sharing this for the first time on the internet, what could possibly go wrong)? and 3) The public information films such as "The spirit of dark and lonely water", and the boy getting electrocuted trying to retrieve his frisbee from an electrical substation. Nevertheless, I would like to to thank you for these uploads. Thank you.

I can't remember Armchair Thriller at all, back in the 1970s, which peplexes me as I 💕horrors. Animal Kwackers, was just a cheap rip off of Banana Splits. Animal Magic was just charming and funny and oh The Adventures of Black Beauty, that them tune fills me with joy. I think I'll buy Black Beauty on DVD sometime. I uploaded some of these series on my previous channel. Hopefully they will be on my current channel. That included the great 'Quiet As A Nun'. Written by Harold Pinter's wife. The opening sequence with the red face did terrify me. I mean terrify! Animal Quackers, once seen never forgotten. Dramarama was the 1970s too? I'm thinking of the episode when a man turns into a tree & a later episode where a masked wrestler was not all what he seems. This was on at 4.30 for schoolchildren! Bring back the 70s.

I remember Jemima Shore (a great series both on telly and the books) but don't think Armchair Thriller made it to NZ
Arthur of the Britons is another series I've never forgotten despite only ever seeing a few episodes - post 1977 when we got our telly and I suspect it was largely on before I came in from school. Wasn't there a friend with the name Kai in it, that character and Oliver Tobias are the only ones I really remember but looking at your shorts I know so many of the faces that appear. Better still both seasons are on RUclips and guess what I'm watching next. Thank you for this one especially, the characters stuck but I couldn't remember the name.
Are You Being Served was also on in NZ, my daughter still loves the series and has them all on DVD
Remember All Creatures Great and Small, the original that is, though I didn't really watch it. I'd found the books long before and always preferred the originals to versions on the telly. Same with Heartbeat, the books are better than the series.
I don't remember Black Beauty - though I know the theme music - but I do remember Follyfoot Farm (I think it was called). I've never been a huge fan of animal series including Lassie, Skippy and some US show which featured a dolphin from memory (all seen occasionally either on holiday or at a friend's house after school).

Oliver Tobias was gorgeous in "Arthur of the Britons". "Armchair Thriller" was scary as hell !! I remember John Cleese being interviewed on "Ask Aspel", he looked a bit awkward! Johnny Morris had a lovely voice on "Animal Magic". I think he did some voice-overs on adverts later.

I’ve just re-read my Aeronauts annual! (1973). It was a French series originally called ‘Les Chevalliers des Ciel’ (Knights of the air - please forgive spelling). The BBC re-dubbed it into English but these redubs were subsequently wiped and lost. It had a very limited DVD release in France a few years ago and episodes can be found here on RUclips. Both of these are of course in French with no English subtitles.

I don't remember Armchair Thriller from the opening titles but I certainly remember the nun with no face episode. That was very memorable and scary as a little lad. I have a vague recollection of another scary show with a completely different opening sequence that I always thought the nun episode was from. It had really spooky organ music. A stark white background and a creepy, Victorian doll falling and I think eventually smashing on the floor. I always found it really scary. Especially the music. Anybody else remember it or did I dream it all up?

I love that Armchair Thtiller, had the special THAMES nighttime intro. Were they the only show that had that?
So i grew up in South Boston (Massachusetts, not Lincolnshire) and the scenery of american tv didnt speak to me, sunny California grosses me out. But our outstanding public broadcasts station wgbh would show things set in britain and the scenerty and place names (worcester, leicester etc.) spoke to me alot more. Rain, old buildings. Urban decay...."its grim up north" applied to us as well as Manchester and Durham. Then all of the music i love punk, postpunk c86 etc. Was very english. The smiths had that whole kitchen sink drama aesthetic...Rita Tushingham wasca star to me. Ill admit it im an anglophile. I have a father frm ireland that used to bitch about Britain and id tink..."i kinda like them." So i love this shit

All that comes up on Google is the Cole Porter show or a TV programme with Keith Chegwin, not what I remember. The one I mean was from around 87/88, and was about different places to visit in the UK, featuring a different place each week. One of the places featured was Chester.
