He was devoted to the elevation of his people, which made him brave enough to challenge an army of god-killers, the pursuit of whose power led to him sacrificing everything he held dear: his father figure, his prized star-destroying weapon, and by taking the majority of his forces to Sol, the very empire he was trying to save.
@Christopher Garland I'm gonna be honest, I actually don't mind if they bring back Ghaul, like actually bring him back (no Nightmare/Memory thingmajig), as long they write him correctly... which, by the looks of recent story decisions, I am afraid they wouldn't.

@@Sol_Invictus1997 Heads up, this particular quote is from the very final chapter of the manga, which hasn't not been animated yet. It's from the Thousand Year Blood War arc, which is currently being animated. It will be split into 4 seasons, with about 9 months of delay between each. First season released in October 2022 and S2 will release in July this year. Personally Bleach is one of my favorite animes. Aizen is a great character
I never heard this when I was in the leviathan, would’ve been cool to hear it since he was the first villain I was introduced to in destiny when I first started playing.
Season of the Haunted is easily my fave season in terms of narrative. It's entire plot revolves around showing us the insecure and hidden sides of characters that are unseen. Caiatl learning to accept the failures of Cabal warrior culture and changing her perception of Ghaul was great and seeing Crow accept his past life's mistakes were fantastic, but seeing Zavala, what we saw as the ideal Titan in his leadership, stoicism, honor, and duty be exposed as a hollow man living in centuries of regret learning to forgive himself was tear jerking, especially so after Lance's death. I really hope Bungie can get back to that high level writing from Witch Queen and Season of the Haunted in Season of the Deep and onward.
It’s nice and all until you realize that these are just projections and they’re not the real people we meet so their redemption is a fallacy made as a coping mechanism for the people who suffer from their existence
No they're not the real people, but they are ethereal copies of their personalities. Remember the Darkness is the psychic intangible layer of the universe. Nightmares draw from not only the memories of those they plague, but also the memory of the Universe itself. These nightmares are perfect copies of the minds they represent, not just representations built by how we feel about them. Sure they seem to be influenced by our perception, but they definitely draw from things outside of our own memories, (often they mention things to us that our character should not know about them). So while technically not real, they do think pretty much exactly the way that their original counterparts did.
The cabal are one of the two races of enemies that I’ve always loved since D1 and hearing caital and ghaul speak to us like we’re equals or at least warrior equals is really surreal
I absolutely loved hearing Ghaul during this particular season because it wasn't from the point of view of a current enemy, rather someone who we've defeated and is paying us our respects. Probably one of the best voices for a former enemy at any point in this game's existence.
“I will protect those who cannot protect themselves. I will protect even those I hate, so long as it is right. I will protect those I hate. Even...even if the one I hate most is... myself.”
If Ghaul saw what is going on now. We would be able to play as fallen and cabal and maybe hive or taken versions of guardians like death knights on WoW. But thats for marathons to ignore.
This actually makes a better and more likable villain. I wish they made him more fleahed out and had more interactions with us in the Red War like Oryx did. Oryx would project his face and insult us and send an echo to face us. Say we are unworthy to fave him. I wish Ghaul spent more time invested kn us than he was communing with a machine and the creature that claimed to speak to it. Wish the Consul got more too.
The only thing scarier than a Cabal wishing for your destruction is a Cabal wishing the best for you.
True, but the best thing about that is you know, whether beside you or going wherever they are going, they have your back with those words.

Ghaul seeing Calus in the afterlife, they're gonna fight for sure.

Honestly I feel Ghaul is only on our side in that because he hates Calus more than he hates us.
Un-ironically, Ghaul is fucking goated. Great boss fight, amazing dialogue, and just a great villain in general
I know right? I feel like the Red War campaign is so underrated.

funny enough this is how our brains think when some one is wrong about us then we prove them wrong
