- Welcome to another episode Scrap Mechanic Survival: Nomad! Today I am continuing the process of building my new mobile base. I decided to make it look more like an RV this time around. It's considerably bigger than the previous base, and is going to have a lot more fancy elements to it, like automatic collapsable stairs, and access ramps, and soon to be more!

With that oil pond you found, as you said, you'll have more oil that you're ever gonna need, so placing concrete on the bottom of the base wouldn't afect you that much. And you can conect the fuel canister to the crafting system so it will automaticly get fuel after it get's crafted.

I love how the base is turning out. I'd recommend using mini pipes for loading the drill car to make it fit easier. In terms of names all I can think of is "Big Scrapper"

You should use Ackermann steering to help your turning smoothness and turn radius. Set the inside wheels to turn at a steeper angle than the outside wheels. Something like:
Left wheels: left turn 50°, right turn 45°
Right wheels: left turn 45°, right turn 50°
This is helpful for large wheelbases since the wheels on the inside of the turn travel a shorter distance than the wheel on the outside - and the steeper angle allows them to rotate more freely without that dragging sensation (known as scrub)
Thanks, never heard of such a thing before, but makes sense.
Good idea, but it wouldn't work because the steering is solidly attached to each other.
@@gogofuntime_yt Actually ... Welded steering often forces artificial Ackerman as its pushed to its max angle, before the arm collides. So that's kinda funny.

I noticed you added a kind-of dash board to the front of the car, I was thinking, what if you put a Suspension Mug on there?

Suggestion: Install a more zoom out camera mod so It's easy for you and us to get a full view of the vehicle when driving. We all can agree that it isn't cheating

Sure enough you're right. At least you can't through the interface anyway.
It'd be really cool if they added that, mod creators could add custom crafting recipes, and even custom workstations!

I am from the future ,the devs have added mod support for survival so it is incredibly easy to mod scrap mechanic survival.
When it's finished you need to test if your vehicle floats. If it does maybe put a thruster on it to go across water. (Get a lot of fuel from oil ponds)
A land/water hybrid base vehicle. That would be awesome

"The winnebago" and the logic is cool but why didn't you extend the front fenders out by one and may them stair like yards the back so it looks sleek instead of bulky with some functionality too

Instead of two independent turning wheels set in the front i would use two bars with each two wheels on and have the bars linked like you have them right now, you would have to use much less bearings. Also, you might want to put the beacon as low as possible in the vehicle, that thing actually is VERY heavy.
I did some rudimentary testing, the beacon weighs the same as 29 concrete blocks.
And if Scrap Mechanic physics are accurate (which everyone knows they obviously are), it takes 20 Beacons to weigh as much as one Craft Bot
So they aren't light, but compared to everything else it is pretty negligable.

why not just do all wheel turning?
Another option would be to have a set of center wheels that do not turn and have the front and rear wheels be directional.

loving the RV, you could use pipe pieces for the roof bar and add more lights to the top like a light bar (plus would help with videos at night) also stick some windows along the side and sky lights on the top to light up the inside is another option. loving the scrap vids cheers

The vehicle actually looks a lot like "Toto"(a small electric driven automobile) but it's a big giant. So, I would name it
"Totan" i.e. "Toto" plus "Titan". Or for simplicity just "Toto"

Similar to how you currently have the steering. You could put two wheels onto each side of a single extended bar. Rather than having multiple steering racks. It'll cut down on complexity a tiny bit. And hopefully negate that lag from having too many bearings.
The reason he has the two bars is to keep the wheels aligned so that the individual bearings don’t flip out and cause his wheels to point in different directions.
@@ethanelliott9250 He can still do that with what I'm saying. Picture something like the gemini symbol. where the two vertical bars are the pivot points connecting to the vertical bars, forming the steering. And the ends of the horizontal bars have the wheels mounted along the top or bottom face.
May I suggest that you name the RV “The Rustbucket” or “The Rust Bucket”.
The Scarlet Titan would be a good name.

I've got three names that I think would be cool for your vehicle: Nomadica or Nomadicus, in reference to the series itself, The TranScraper, as in a Scrap themed transport and a reference to its driver, and the Gypsy Scrapper, which is kind of a combination of the last two names. I really hope you name it something cool, ScrapMan, and it would be cool if my names got chosen. But I guess it's up to the viewers. Vote well Y'all!

you could probably remove one of the cross beams from each set of wheels and still have it work w/o causing as much lag
5:42 whats interesting is, you should link those back wheels from two steering mechanisms to a single one that way you have the steering power but less needed connections.
To make it even LESS bearings controlled, you can attach an upsidedown T shape to the centers of the cross bars, then a single bearing to turn that bar to interact with the cross beams

At the end of the series, he would have entirely rebuilt earth on a one to one scale and have every possible thing on a single vehicle. (A helipad with a helicopter would be nice)

Make a retractable ladder to get into your mobile base that also functions as a door and opens using the sensor mechanism
If the vehicle is wide enough and the mining car fits then you could make the back wall a deployable ramp to drive the mining car in, pretty much the same as the doors
I recon a piston or even a rotating block that triggers a sensor to release the mining vehicle would work decently well and make it easier to release
I think what was happening with the sensors was if you jumped out of the seat while being detected, but didn't move out of the sensors vision, and then got back into the seat, it would say undetected. When you jumped out of the seat and away from the sensors and back, they refreshed and detected you again.
That's the most "big-brain" vehicle ever created in survival mode.
I shall call you the Scrap Master.
Thats it we should call the vehicle Big Brain Base or BBB for short
Scrap Master 2 because it's the second iteration of the mobile bases.
Optimus Scrap
I have 3 suggestion for you:
1. Extend the Motor Compartment, to be able to move the wheel maybe 3 blocks over, so you can build some stars behind them
2. Now that your vihicle is so long, that you can't see you mining vihicle anymore, you should build a warning system, to notify you, if it falls out
3. You should use some rounded blocks for the pickup mechanism for the miner
4. You should use small pipes for the railing!
But I think you did a great job so far!

I think the big boy is very beautiful, I think, If is possible, you can do a deployable woodcutter or something can fly on the top, I'll call it "BigBoy" BB or "Deploynetor". Have fun with the new mobile base
Maybe you could use small pipes on the sides of the middle prong for the vehicle holder
Slide outs! Make it a true RV! Have slide outs with beds and tables, and have them deploy the same way the doors and stairs do.
I think a good name could be the Scrapfarer! Think it fits the nomadic style best.
to reduce lag you could try to weld your mining vehicle to the mobile base by adding a temporary block to weld to.
use one of the awnings for your "stairs", and set up the sensors behind your seat to make them go into an up position when in seat, freeing up some width space. when you get out of the seat the awning will move into a ramp position.

To easily get in the bus you could connect the side suspensions to a switch so if you press it one side o the buss will lower like an actual buss and get in!

Make a small nook for the bed, similar to the way the beds are in the 3 habitat pods by the Mechanic station. That should save you some space without looking weird and crammed.
Please use a piston mechanism to have a retracting staircase in the front as well, that would be sick
scrapman put a sensors on the back of the vehicle for the mining vehicle so when you hop on the seat it will automatically pull it down so you can ready to go
You should use a solid axle suspension. That way, you will need less bearings and less floppy wheels.
This is going to be a sick build when it's finally done! ;D
How about the name "ScrapMobile". It keeps the SM logo!
Idea add servos that turn to face up and make a platform at the top for a heli pad or something also can be used for side armor

Scrapman : make a RV
Me with my van shape base : I'm 4 parallels universes ahead of you .
love it, cant wait to see the RV taking shape. The top floor of the RV can have a kitchen and a bedroom. One thing though, i think u forgot to put the blocks at the front wheels back after deleting them, the vehicle is lower in the front by 1 block, that buged me the entire video
Improvements I'd make:
- The front steering wheels have a different radius to travel along then the ones behind it, it will reduce sliding a bit (left and right should be different too but floppy wheels is a bigger issue)
- A second engine (I'm going to use 3 in my 6 wheel vehicle). It will have more power, no speed loss when a wheel gets off the ground and you can increase the speed of the frontwheels if oversteer is an issue. You can also use 2 fuel canisters, (I'm not sure if fuelconsumption will be the same or higher though)
this is amazing i like the design and optional thing i would to is spin the controllers face up so it looks like a touchscreen
Make the railing go only to the entrance point in the roof, it looks weird how it's right above the curved windshield. It breaks the continuity and design flow. Everything else looks awesome. ;)
Make hubcaps for the wheels so you can climb inside without using a single stair
Move your seat back or change the camera's pov so you can see the whole thing
The battle bus lives! I would name it after a boat or something else large to sort of keep the sense of scale. But I would also love to call it the battle bus
Maybe you could put both of your wheels in the front on a bar with a bearing so you have less bearings but same turning radius

Regarding the stairs into your seat you can make a ramp on a button as a door / ramp for your vehicle put it up while driving down when getting out
I think the access ramp would look cooler if it was made into stairs, by using the controller to rotate each step in reverse of the outer rails.

You should name the vehicle "The Nomad". Its perfect.
Edit: just had a few more ideas - since this vehicle is an upgrade from the last maybe it could be called "The Nomad EX" or "The Nomad Prime" or even something like "The Nomadium"

You could make a 1 block wide version of your retractable stairs right between your wheels.
When deployed, they would mess with steering, but if they retract automatically, that doesn't matter.
I think you should name it "Eagle 5", based off the winnebago spaceship in space balls. It would be even better if you throw some wings on it.

It’s name should be ‘party bus’
you could make the front of your M.B. like insterstate double decker busses, those busses have the drive cabin and boarding stairs in front of the front wheels, and your mobile base is alredy very similar, just make it a little more to the front, this will give more space inside your M.B. plus more space to stairs going to roof and entering the M.B. even the front wheels you made are already similar, the only difference is that, of the 4 front wheels, the 2 back ones turn less thant the front ones, you have put both to 40º, try put the 2 back ones to something like 35º this should help your turning the M.B. on higher velocities, but you will need to make bigger turns...
Male arch on the top and when your vehicle flip it can roll back. :D
For getting into your cabin, why not just have stairs that fold out when you're not in your seat, like the awning and mining vehicle mount in your last vehicle?
MM idea: train jumps, there are walls in the way of the tracks and you have to jump (either ramps or mechanisms) over them. The most jumps without falling off wins.
(day 26 of asking scrapman to use my multiplayer Monday idea) who can build the best survival base there will be 3 level of difficulty the first level 1 your survival base has to survive 5 greenbot level 2 your survival base has to survive 10 heybot level 3 your survival base has to survive farmbot

For access into the side, you should make a ramp that would come down then also double as door way in.
Love the RV. Very very good build man.
The roof would also be a good location for a mounted spuddling machine gun for ripping through hoards.
Also might I add that with the weight of your rv/miner plus the weight of everything else once its finished you may need a thruster or 2 to assist with getting up hills. Or perhaps even an electric engine for the torque assist.

The blue lines from the T3 wood is hilarious to look at because they don't provide any light but they're just glowing so all you see is the blue lines on the vehicle at night
scrapman put yout steering bearings over the center line of your wheels and use upside down "L" pieces to mount the wheels. it makes the wheels turn in place instead of twisting forward or backward and helps with turning and stability

For the miner mount try using some of the thin poles for the center to give you more wiggle room just a thought. Also love the asthetic
