    I'm preparing to fly to England in the near future with my service dog, was there any paperwork you had to do going to England and then what did you have to do going back from England?

    • @AwkwardlyAutistic
      @AwkwardlyAutistic  3 года назад +2

      There was A LOT of paperwork. They need to have the health certificate completely filled in and signed by 2 vets. Then the deworming. On top of that if your dog isn't from an ADI program then you have to submit proof of training and pay an extra $500. Going back from England didn't require anything special.I always keep vaccine records with me just in case

    How does your dog last for a 10 hour flight? I have a service dog and am confused? Diapers?

    • @Inciliusnebulifer
      @Inciliusnebulifer 4 года назад +3

      The key is restricting your dogs food and water before the flight so that they dont need to go. A dog can easily make it 10 hours without food and water in an air conditioned location especially if they are mostly just lying down on the cool floor. My dog has water in my bedroom but wont drink it all night no matter what( shes picky) and if I sleep in she can easily go 9- 10 hours without food, water or pottying and thats without food withdrawal the night before. If it makes you feel better ask for some ice on the plane so your dog has a tiny amount of water but it may need to go after that

    • @AwkwardlyAutistic
      @AwkwardlyAutistic  3 года назад +3

      My apologies! I didn't see this comment. Altogether Oakley went 17 hours without potting. He got breakfast and water the morning off then went to the dog park for a couple of hours to eliminate. During the plane ride he had some water and ice to stay hydrated. Once we arrived, we went directly to the potty area but he wasn't in any sort of hurry

      @@AwkwardlyAutistic Great video. its so hard to find videos about the uk. how was the process of the HARC team meeting you when the plane arived? im going to be flying home to uk soon withmy owner trained dog and ot worries me aboutt how long it takes. could you share your experience with HARC and what they did and how long it took please? my girl is fine without going got a pee for 12/13 hours also. thank you

      @@angeodonovan4470 The meeting on the other side was really simple. As soon as I got into the terminal from the jet bridge I was greeted. They scanned Oakley's microchip, looked at his paperwork, signed it and gave me a copy. They then directed me to customs where I had to declare I was travelling with a service dog. They stamped the document and that was that. All together the process probably only added about 10 minutes

    Hey! We’re there crazy about the assisdog paper work? What did they need?

    • @AwkwardlyAutistic
      @AwkwardlyAutistic  3 года назад +1

      So they needed a health certificate filled out(which took us around 3 weeks) as well as his ADI number. I'm not sure what it's like for non-ADI dogs but the process is intense!

    Did you have to pay the illegal landing fee that seems to be a coin toss of if you're going to be charged it or not? (CAA guidance is currently under review here but atm it's like 50-50 for a non-ADI/IGDF team being charged it)

      @shibithecatthing Год назад +1

      @@stemp2004 It's still 50-50 but I've seen more non-ADI/IGDF dogs be approved nowadays. The guidance is still under review, I hopefully going to get an email soon saying when it's most likely going to be put out, I was last told it was coming at the end of last yr but it never did

      @@shibithecatthing im hoping to fly with air transat from Toronto Canada to Manc UK on Air Transat with my service dog. She is not ADI trained. Is this anything you know of ?

    • @shibithecatthing
      @shibithecatthing Год назад +1

      @@stemp2004 The hardest thing would most likely getting your airline to agree a long with the Animal Reception Centre who have to issue an approval letter. Some airlines are harder to deal with than others. It would most likely be easier if you are with an organisation (even if it's not ADI/IGDF) but I have heard of OTADs (owner trained assistance dogs) being accepted with PA tests or training logs.
