Nice review mate, the first proper one I've seen about the GT, that doesn't bang on about the beast. I think the gen 2 is the best road bike out there at the moment. Go for one of the KTM deals, and get about 4k off list price, use a bit of that 4k to raid the ktm power parts catalogue, and you're away. Happy days.
My gen 1 will do me !.I think the headlight on the later ones looks awful compared to the 2016 model, but each to their own of course. Cracking bikes arent they !. My bike came with a Garmin Zumo bracket, so I glued a bracket rain cover to a 7 inch Samsung tablet, now got GPS display for £40. Nice video .
Hello thanks. Yes headlight is a bit of a odd one on the gen 2. The gen 1 is still a great bike mate. I loved the one I had. The GT is so good at everything. Thanks for watching 😬👍
Hello mate, I love my gen 2, never owned a gen 1 but did test ride one once. It was a good bike but I did find the clock displays a bit of a job to work out but I’m sure you’d get used to it over time. Not ideal trying to work out everything when you’ve only got a half hour test! Great that you can customise the dash display and favourites on the gen 2. I don’t like the self-cancelling indicators though, I think there should be an option to turn that feature off. Cheers for the videos, I always enjoy trying to work out where you’re riding!
how much miles did you do on a gen 2 GT by now? were there any reliability issues in all these years? would you say that a 1290 GT is a reliable bike? great video :D keep up the good work :D
Hello. I think I done about 5,000 miles on it. I did have one problem with it. it did not start and it said fuel pump fault on the dash. Took it to KTM and no codes. It just said battery low voltage. Put a new battery on it was ok for the rest of the time I had it. But only done about 1,000 more miles and got a Ducati. I don’t think it was a battery as it was turning over nice and quickly. Great bikes to ride and fantastic engines but they do have some electrical problems. But all bikes do.
@@itchingtoride also, about the seat height, i'm 5'8 and i'm not sure i would be able to get my heals down, even in motorclcy boots. how tall are you, and how do you like the seat height?
I have a Gen2 and find there’s a lot of weight on my hands and wrists, which is surprising for what is meant to be a GT bike. It’s as if the seat itself makes me ride leaned more forward than I would like, although I am 6’4 so this could be why as I know it’s not exactly the biggest bike.
@@itchingtoride I’ve not bought bar risers yet, but I will be before I venture further afield. I did this problem a bit on the test ride but I thought it was because I wasn’t relaxed.
I’m 6’3” 260 lbs and don’t have a problem. Stock bar and riser. I use my legs a lot, especially while riding aggressively, maybe that would make a difference for you.
Hello. Well the KTM Superduke gt is better value for money because you can buy one for around £15,000 now. But I really like the Ducati multistrada V4. I am thinking about buying one myself. But it’s about £22,000 for the one i would like. That’s with luggage and everything. It’s a massive difference in price 🙈

Hello thanks. Yes the Gen 2 is a great bike. There are good deals on them now. Looking forward to see what the new model is like next year 😬👍

Nice review mate, comparing the gen 1 & 2. Got to be the gen 2 for me I think. Sounds like your really pleased with yours 👍🏼👌
Yes mate top bike 😬👍

Hello mate. Yes that’s one thing I don’t like is the self cancelling indicators. I should of said about that 😬👍
Glad you like the videos 👍
How do you find the screen buffetting on the GT? I have an 890 Adv and the buffetting is awful.
Nice review, you have just cost me more money though now lol. You from Norfolk by any chance?
Hello no from Suffolk.
@@itchingtoride hello from North Norfolk :-)
@@jamesfuller201 Not far from me then 👍

Gen 1 feels faster and more raw🤙🔥and i hate keyless😫
Gen 2 is a better bike 😬

Hello. I find it ok for me. But I am 5’9. It might be because you are 6’4. Have you tried some bar risers ?

Are there any small changes to the gen2 2021 model?
Can the illuminated switch gear be turned off as an option?
Hello. I haven’t seen a option to turn them off. So I don’t think so. KTM might be able to turn them off.
Having now ridden the Multistrada V4S, which bike would you say is better value for your money?

What’s the wind protection like at motorway speeds?
Hello. It’s very good. I don’t have a problem with it at all 😬👍
