But, if there’s no flat tax, there needs to be child tax credits, otherwise less people will have children and we lose our country. I didn’t have kids until I was 42 years old, so I totally feel what you are getting at. But, you also didn’t have to pay $2k-$3k monthly for childcare while you went out and made a living. Beside that, the credits are not nearly as much as you would think they are, especially if the person getting the tax credit is not poor or lower middle class. What burns me, is people that don’t even pay taxes get money back, while my taxes pay enough to support a family of 4 annually.

While I get the child tax credits, I completely agree with a flat tax. But, if there’s no flat tax, there needs to be child tax credits, otherwise less people will have children and we lose our country. I didn’t have kids until I was 42 years old, so I totally feel what you are getting at. But, you also didn’t have to pay $2k-$3k monthly for childcare while you went out and made a living. Beside that, the credits are not nearly as much as you would think they are, especially if the person getting the tax credit is not poor or lower middle class. What burns me, is people that don’t even pay taxes get money back, while my taxes pay enough to support a family of 4 annually.

What about people who can't have children? Not everyone wants children adn that is their choice. Why does having children make a person better? George Washington had no children but he was the father of our country.
It's a generalization, or a broad truth but it's not a universal statement (there are many exceptions). I have no children and I care very much about the country's future, but I am not offended by his statement because I understand the broader truth that he is communicating. It is something that the country needs to hear and and to think about.
I don’t have kids, and there’s no question in my mind I think differently of our future as a nation MUCH differently than families that do have children. Obviously, I want our future to be safe and secure, but there’s just no way I can have that built-in anxiety of what it means to leave my messes to beings I would care deeply about.
