From a purely collecting point of view, this could actually be a blessing in disguise for you. I collect Grant Hill and Ben Wallace cards, but only in their Pistons uniform and only in their playing days. And I'm kind of glad that I'm "limited" to this because otherwise there would be way too many cards that would cost way too much. And there are a TON of Luka cards that were made so far in his career.

Most shocking trade in history. Nobody had any idea it was coming, they could've gotten way more for him and nobody can wrap their head around it. The concern about conditioning leading to injuries is a garbage excuse. AD stubs his toe on the end table and misses a month.

This is how I felt when Joe Montana went to the Chiefs and Ken Griffey Jr. to the Reds, you never believe something like that could happen, that a franchise would give up their legendary player. Something must have gone extremely wrong, the analysts are saying Luka has not kept himself in shape which in turn has led to injuries. And my guess is Dallas tried to work with him on getting his "commitment" to the team (including conditioning).

I started loving basketball way back 2006 when Dwyane Wade was shining for the Heat. So by that, you can tell that I wasn't a Mavericks fan. But when Luka showed up, damn he somehow changed the game and I became a fan of his and also the franchise. Add Kyrie into the mix and I was completely sold. I rooted for them and the Mavericks during last years Finals and hoped and prayed that they would win. Flash forward to this god awful news that he got traded was just a nightmare not because of how it went down, but because I've always wanted Luka to spend his entire career with the Mavericks and win 2 or 3 championships. I love Luka Doncic and I'll support him where ever he goes. It's clear that he and AD are just victims of whatever concoction the NBA has in store for the future or for their ratings. As for the Mavs, I'm still rooting for them to get the trophy and hope that they will end up in the Finals again and win. But I sure do hope that Luka goes back to the Mavs sometime in the future. @ Anything's possible at this point. Lebron did it when he went back to the Cavs and won a championship for them. Since rumor has it that they're going to make Luka the new face of the NBA when Lebron retires, if that were true, then Luka would have that "power" to move back and win one or two for the Mavs sometime in the future.
However, there is one thing that I'm concerned about and it's another rumor that the Mavs GM are making a way to move the Mavs to Las Vegas. It's a scary thought and one that I hope would never ever come true. Anyways, whatever happens, I hope that they do what's best for the fans and not for themselves.
Yeah that would stop making a Mavs fan tbh. And that would make this trade really bad in the hindsight at would be a big shake for the city of Dallas. Lets hope those rumors are not true

Crazy man was literally watching your other hoops video when I saw the news. Quite the coincidence, but man I feel bad cause I know that you really have a special connection to the European players as I'm sure a lot of people over there do. Probably why you're a Mavs fan with Dirk doing his thing and then Luka. I personally don't see a huge benefit in the short term to either side unless the Lakers get some rim protection and the Mavs figure out their log jam now in the front court. I think long term this definitely favors the Lakers. Not sure what happened and if the rumors about them being frustrated with his conditioning are actually true but this is a trade that doesn't make sense to me from the Mavs side.
Also congrats on just hitting 10k brother. Glad you get some good news at least today. Now that I thought about it more. I think the Mavs might be alright with AD at the 4 spot. Should be interesting
I think short term the Mavs can benifit but they won't go all the way without Luka. The Lakers got a future. I am just sad I have to split my fav player and fav team now :(

Still don't understand this trade from Dallas' side. Lakers are no doubt looking to the post-Lebron era. Doesn't make sense with Mavs already have a blossoming big in Lively and a solid big in Gafford. It's still business, sure, but I still can't wrap my head around this trade.

I was beyond stunned at the news. Im a. Phoenix suns fan. I was pissed in 2018 because we chose wrong. I was pissed in 2022 when my suns were embarrassed in game 7. I cant imagine as a fan how you feel about this. My heart goes out to you, despite my pain, in multitudes regarding luka.

I've been a Mavs fan all my life and this is the most shocking think that's ever happened. I still don't think it was the right call but I'm trying to keep faith that we'll still compete for a ring this year. I can see why it makes sense on paper, but Luka was the soul of the franchise and I'm not sure a title without him would mean as much to us. I'll still be a Luka fan though.
