Lovely insight into utilising a household soldering iron as an artists pyrography tool, marvelous.

Hi, I use tools to my needs and for many jobs, some not what they are intended for. This obviously raises safety issues. I don't advise a soldering iron, but it's all I have..Thanks for watching and commenting. Andy.

Absolutely beautiful candy stick, I take the sticks I'm finishing into the house as well. Real artistry as always with the pyrography.

Hi. I do need a representation of the animal or bird to work from when wood burning. I can't freehand affectively. Temperature fluxes touch in the workshop. Sounds like you have found or had the same problems I experienced and decided the best place is indoors also. I've glad i am not alone in doing this . Thanks for watching. Andy.

Hi Andy, great stick definitely different to your normal ones. A lot of time getting the finish as good as that. Interesting video, thanks for sharing. Take care Paul

Hi, yeah we do a few of the candy cane models each year. We started selling as a (him and hers )stick with the camo trail model included as part of the package at craft fairs. Thanks for watching. Andy

Hi, I was nervous about pulling paint off and ruining the stick. It is a time-consuming job to remove stencils. Thanks for watching and commenting. Andy.

My favourite little song bird, "Aigisalis Cauditus". Have you tried warming the stencils with hair dryer gently to soften it?

Hi, I haven't used a hair dryer as you have described, but that's an idea I might try on my next candy cane stick I do. Thanks for that useful tip. Thank you for watching and commenting. Andy.

Have to admit I cheat with the few sticks I varnish and go with yacht varnish from a spay can 3 coats a day apart usually does it.
