I am making a "Student Help Series for PhD in USA". This video is 1st in the series.

Step 5:- Prepare all the documents required to fill the Application form.
Step 6:- Submit the Application before the Deadline

Dear “”Prof Name””
Paragraph 1:- Tell about yourself. Your name, college information, and when have you/ expecting to graduate.
Paragraph 2:- Discuss about your Master’s/Bachelor’s Project. Discuss about what is the main idea of your project and what you are trying to solve/find.
Paragraph 3:- Discuss about your interest in his/her research work and if you have a topic that you have though about, then mention that also.
Paragraph 4:- Ask for any vacant position if any, and mention your desire to join their team for further research.
Note:- Do attach your CV and Transcripts with the mail.

Recently I got admitted to a fully funded PhD position in usa. I agree with all the points you said bro except writing emails to professor. I think it didn't helped me in my case at least
As I got rejected to that university where I got positive reply from prof. And accepted to that university where I got no reply at all. Finding research supervisor is not needed during admission process as that we will do in our 2nd sem of phd. So yes you can go ahead without without writing email to prof. but make sure your research area and dept. research area matches.

For the evidence contact either the bank officials or CA they will guide you better. These documents are prepared by them only. You cannot fill it urself.

The application deadlines for fall are in dec to jan.
You can start mailing from oct onwards..

Well, that is sufficient to apply. GRE may or may not be required depending on which univ you are using. Many universities do not require a GRE as a requirement.
do u think if uni has a good ranking it might be difficult to secure the position? ihave an average profile, not too good
Well, i think yes. If profile is not very gr3at and you have a realisation of that then focus more on lower ranked. But you can apply in higher ranked aswell.. Atleast mail the progessors.. Becuz you never know... What if they lile yoyr profile.
So while mailing choose univ of all ranks.. And then decjde based on the replies

Tbh.. I never checked for these things. I just used to send out the emails to the professors.. But if its written then better try sonewhere else first.

Hello, what if you don't get any reply ??, It has been months since I am trying, almost tried to establish contact with more than 50 -60 professors, (not more than 2 from each university) Yet so far nothing, Also I have query how to confirm that my emails are not going in spam?? So far I don't even know if it is reaching them or not
So, one way is using the college e-mail id to send the mail. Geberally they take 2 weeks to reply, if you dont get a reply then you can send a follow up mail.
I dont know a way to check if our mails are going into spam or not. But mostly this will not be the case.
is it possible to get English Language Test waiver? MIT is offering the same for Indian students. Do you know other such universities?
Iam not aware of it.. One way is soemtime if u have taken ielets or toefl.. Then you are required to study english course for 1 semester..
So can look for that also

because as you said different universities require different test or not at all. so if they do require test then that will be waste of money. isn't it ?
see, while selecting the universities you can see if they require GRE or not...
but Toefl or Ielts is required...
so, if u select univ which does not want GRE then u just give Toefl or IELts.
What about those universities where GRE is not required but recommended.. then can we skip it or not?
Yes you can skip that, but might increase your chances of selection if you give it. Depends on how interested the professor is in ur profile. If you think your profile is good enough then no need.
Is ielts or gre compulsory if you are applying from european countries?
Well you might have to check individual requirements, there is no compulsion but still check with each university requirement

Its not compulsory to have a paper published, but its a big plus if u have one. I did not have a published paper but i had submitted one at that time which was under review.
Also, professors say that we should apply as early as possible. The earlier, the better.

Well, it's always good to start the process as soon as you can.
By selecting the universities and professors parallel, you can keep collecting funds.
And if you are planning for fall 2025, you should start emailing by September 2024...
For an international student, it is mandatory to take either TOEFL or IELTS, so you would need that score with you

Mailed around 10 professors so far but no reply. I will keep mailing till October. In case I don't get any reply, i will apply for central admission in my PhD. But my confusion is how do i choose where my chances are High? What ranking of university should I aim for? Thanks in advance.
No specific method to check ur chances...
See when u have a draft mail ready. All u need id make changes every time you send it to a professor.. So semd as many mails as possible.
To get approxinate idea of universities follow qs rank and shanghai ranking.

So for the positions its something you will have to look on University websites, generally people aim for Fall semest3r admission.
The whole purpose of sending the email is just to get a bit of a confirmation that whether a prof is accepting a PhD student or not. However if your profile is good u can apply directly as well. Sending email and getting an approval is not mandatory.

There is no set rule about the gpa, though sometimes they might mention it. Even i cannot provide you a specific answer. Sometimes professors do not consider the requirement of gpa that much.
How would we know if the university is offering scholarships or not?
Well you can look for th3se info on website, specially departmental websites. Sometime even the prof you will be mailing to, tell you that.

1.gre depends on if they want it or not. I mean the univ or the dept in that univ wamt it or not.
2. Ielets and toefl both are good exams. Check the university requirement what they want. If they are asking for toefl then u have no other choice.. So check in their website
3. No soecif years of experi3nce required.. Its not mentioned anywhere, i have zero.

well, that you will have to ask the professor for that, if he didn't take any other students you may still have a chance...
But the prof is the one to make the final decision

I must have mailed around 50 professors till now...only 2 positive responses came, that also scholarships is nt confirmed...around 40 didnt replied only....😅😅
Yeah it happens. See its one of the way of getting a PhD. It may or may not get u a PhD becuz no body can gaurantee yoy that just by mailing you will get a PhD.
Other way can be make your profile sooo string that u get more replies back from professor.
Simply mailing the professor is not the end of the battle.

Not really. Although if u r doingmsters here.. Then u already knkw the professors and can directly convert ur masters into phd.. But that depends on the profqessor.. If u find a professor who is readg to take u as a phd, u can do it.
Other wise.. Most lf the students who come here have done masters in thejr home country.

Well mostly they are, either by giving you a RA position or a TA.
But you can also ask the prof about funding opportunities

1. yeah people do get offer while doing the MTech.. even before the completion. If u have a paper its good. if not then also u can get an offer..
2. sath mai kro sab start.. sop early start kr skte ho.. LOR to ofcourse yes ane ke baad hi kroge.. becuz else kiske liye LOR likhoge ye pata kaise lgega.. and Sop lor ka need application ke time ata h, to prepare phle se krke rkhna..
English test jab lahe ki prepared ho tab de dena.. score valjd rhta hai kafi time tak.

Hey, congrats for good score.
Well i woudl say to make ur chances of selection a little better u shud try getting something published, or show a project work.
Having said that u can always try reaching out to the professors if ur profile is good. Its not about if u r eligible or not, you have to focus on making a profile that is gkod enough to get the attention of a professor or a selection comittee.
Even if u have a gap of 4 yrs it is not a concern until and unless u have done some project or publications in that gap period that makes ur profile little strong.
What if we have no research related knowledge ..
Not everyone have research related knowledge.. You just need desire to do PhD.. Rest u canlearn while doing it.
Is gre must for masters? I don't think so
For Masters it is required, however an individual univ might waive that requirement off. But mostly it is required.
