    I have both, and use deco foil as well. I prefer the quill system between the 2 as it's just as easy even though you plug it in. It also has a bigger color selection, prices are comparable. Cricut only the advantage of drop n go, the tape that comes with it sucks! It tears surfaces of paper. I love deco foil (thermo web) even though it works totally different. Largest variety of colors and foil patterns. Choices make projects fun and versatile, even if a little confusing, at times

    I'm really glad I found this. I have been debating between the two for a while, but I didn't know what the core differences were between them. This helped a lot! Thank you for doing this!

    I have both and prefer the Cricut because it is so much easier to use. No power needed, no heat, no waiting for it to warm up. The advantage of the We R tool is that there is generic foil available (cheap!) and it comes in so many colors. Cricut is very limited right now when it comes to choices.

      What source do you use for the generic foil for the we r foil quill?

    Awesome review, and yea! I don't have to go out and buy another product. I have the we are memory keepers product. Glad to see it does just as good a job as cricut.

    Hello great video! Question what type of foils can I use with the cricut foil? Does it only have to be cricut foil?
    Thank you!😊

    Great comparison Becca. Both are great products. I prefer my Cricut foil system because it is part of the Cricut system and DS allows me to assign foiling to the design. When I go to make it, DS tells me when to change blades. As you mentioned, I do not need a heat source either.

    Great comparison Becca! I have the Cricut Foil kit which I haven't used yet but I was more interested in that one since it didn't have to be plugged in.

    Can you use the Quill Foil on iPad? I heard that the cricut foil transfer kit can only be used on desktop! Thank you! -Diane

      Hello! So, the foiling feature is not compatible with the iPad, only on Laptop and Desktop. Best of luck Diane!

    With the cricut foil system I can utilise the hatch fill svg with a bubble outline font and it will fill the inside of the text. Will the We R quill also do this? Apologies if this haas been asked but I couldn’t find it amongst the comments. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks. 🦋

    I had both and been using for a while. The foiling result on paper materials are very similar between those two. The only reason I got WRMK foil quill set was to work with acrylic since pressure system does not work. But it turns out that the result on acrylic with heat foiling system is terrible… so I ended up using cricut foil transfer. Honestly now I figured I don’t even need cricut foil transfer since I have laser printer and I can just print foil with toner reactive foils, 100x faster, 100x better result

    Hi! Do you know if the Cricut Foil Transfer tool can be used on standard Vinyl (not the printable kind)? I would like to use it for some stickers. :)

    • @MakersGonnaLearn
      @MakersGonnaLearn  3 года назад

      You cannot use this on vinyl or printable vinyl :) This is for paper and faux leather and things like that. Here's a list of materials you can use it on: help.cricut.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052828074-Cricut-Foil-Transfer-Tool-Suggested-Materials

    I would prefer the Cricut because I don't want to deal with the heat and plugging it in. Plus I think the Cricut lines were more crisp.

    Can the Cricut Foil Transfer sheets be used with the WRMK Foil Quill pen? FYI, I'm not using my Cameo just for free-styling...

    • @MakersGonnaLearn
      @MakersGonnaLearn  3 года назад

      No ma'am because the Cricut foil is pressure activated while the WRMK foil is heat activated :)

    Can it only outline the text or can it be filled solid. For instance if you picked a smaller script font?

    • @MakersGonnaLearn
      @MakersGonnaLearn  3 года назад

      There is no way for any 3rd party font to be filled in :) Using a thinner font like this one sometimes gives the illusion of it being filled in. Best of luck!

    • @rpeacej
      @rpeacej 3 года назад +1

      So my next question is then, if I create the text in Illustrator and expand it to be an object and bring it into design space, would the foil fill it solid or would it still outline? I’m trying to figure out if a large script monogram letter would work? I would like it to be solid, not just an outline. Is that something you could test?

    • @lisalind4813
      @lisalind4813 3 года назад +1

      It is still outline only. I've fiddled with different hatching and fill techniques. Hatching leaves a sloppy image, fills don't fill

    If I have to have no heat to do foil then thats one I prefer. Notice the different color between them which could be different company that makes the foil
