I do this with college students. I have beds enabled in community lots. They have a tent in the park, catch fish to grill, can sleep on park benches or sofas in the library. Showers at the gym, and viewing art to raise their mood!!! It's fun!!!

I realized that, since time doesn't advance on your home lot while your Sim is out, I could time visiting community lots in a way that would sort of help speed the semester up and get my sims through college faster. Instead of having useable items to take care of their needs though, I just use cheats. I like your idea better though. Adds some challenge
