I like cartoons on MeTV and I am surprised there is not an over air network specializing in cartoons. As far as live TV i do not understand how streaming services like Roku make money on it when they air few commercials and instead use it to mostly to promote other live TV Networks on their service.
I just checked, and the MeTV channel (WHIODT2) that I already have here in Dayton, Ohio, shows a pretty good cartoon lineup on Saturday mornings from 7 to 9:30 a.m. that includes Popeye, The Tom and Jerry Show, Woody Woodpecker, and Bugs Bunny and Friends, but yeah, what kid wouldn't like a 24-7 cartoon channel?
I'm surprised by how vast the library is, they got shows all the way from the 40s to the early 2000s. This seems to me like Boomerang under a completely different name.
Yeah this is basically going to be like boomerang and what cartoon network was originally like but it's going to have more variety because there's a lot of shows like Betty boop and mighty mighty mouse that weren't on boomerang
This is excited. I know that on Sunday nights on one of the MeTV subchannels they play cartoons so I am excited. Plus Me-TV is a local channel in the Chicago market so we will likely get this.
I worked on very similar cases when I used to work antitrust; Fubo and the other TV providers have a VERY strong case. I don't usually put odds on who will win a civil case or not because anything can happen however if this goes to trial I'd predict that Max, Fox & Disney have a VERY slim chance of winning. If you read through the antitrust law this would be as clear cut a violation of that as there ever has been because as much as I want a sports centric service this is anti competitive if they don't allow the TV providers to offer similar packages. At the end of the day however I foresee a settlement where the TV providers are no longer forced to carry networks they don't want or they can offer skinny packages to cater to those who don't want sports or want sports but not those channels.
I wonder if the difference between the free over the air channel and streaming paid access to MeTV Toon would be that the over the air would be the classic cartoons are edited for content and the paid would be unedited with limited commercial interruption or no commercial interruption.
The free version might have a limited loop of content, like the Adult Swim free stream. I guess the purpose would be for some markets tat don't carry MeTV stations.
False METV is it's own local network and they're looking to capitalize on Classic cartoons since the success of toon in with me and saturday morning lineup.
@@calebpepper391 What it boils down to is that people don't want to pay to watch old cartoons. They want to watch them for free, like when they were kids.
I live in Chicagoland, which is where Me Tv originated. I don't know if they will have enough station slots free for this without losing one here. Weigel started with WCIU ,which the called The U and Me Tv was their sister station.
I think Fubo is fighting for its life. The issue i see with their case is that they are a third party that transmits these channels, while the new servic would be from the owners of the channel.
I didn't want to enter the public domain era, I just wanted to collect all the cartoons from saturday morning and the cartoon channels and preschool channels those that didn't suck
MeTV Toons sounds good (unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's coming to my city or anything I'm currently subscribed to right now); I just wish Warner Bros Discovery cared this much about Cartoon Network and new and up and coming talent. They've done a lot of talent very dirty: killing shows then burying them so the creators and talents can't receive any royalties, gutting Max's cartoon library, the whole Coyote VS Acme debacle and how the top brass has treated Adult Swim's talent is almost criminal (though to be fair, this was going on long before Discovery came along). Classics are great, but new talent needs to be nurtured. A company can't rely solely on nostalgia.
The report I got is supposed to be from variety, Said it's not only warner brothers stuff, But also. All the major cartoon companies, From the past. Making the biggest collection of cartoons ever in one outlet, that be pretty neat
For the Hulu/Disney app merge, my main complaint is that the Watchlist and Continue Watching are not merged. Ideally, I should be able to move between them seamlessly.
Luke, on the Disney+ app do you have the kids profiles for kids and does it block the more mature shows or movies that are advertised to watch? Since you use it more with smaller kids.
You mentioned 4K download -whilst it used to be 25 Mbps - better codecs now mean to view a video in 4K/Ultra HD you need only about 15 Mbps (for one stream) with most services I believe.
I'm surprised Pluto TV is adding more free channels. I wonder what's going to happen to Pluto TV once Paramount gets bought out, combine with another company (maybe Skydance?), or if they just sell their franchise 1 by 1.
Comcast may be successful with these cheaper internet plans, especially if their service is more stable, faster, and more consistent than 5G internet. That depends on each person's location. Also, if there is no contract or hidden fees.

For starters, I share all of your excitement and I cannot wait to see it. I am impressed with its line up of nostalgic cartoons and it does bring back fond memories. While I like the line up of shows, I was hoping that this new channel will broadcast the week's "Toon in with Me" episodes. I was hoping that it would have a five-hour block, just for anyone who missed an episode or two (or more) of that METV series to have an encore presentation. I hope that can still be possible. Besides that, from "Top Cat" to "Under Dog", I am ready to reminisce and enjoy. Buh bye, Boomerang! Thank You.
I have a $69 per month internet with Comcast. I am not changing to the new service. The $30 is only an indroductory amount. The real price comes after that period. And with fees it is over $50.. And has less speed than what I now have.
My Firestick 4K 1st gen will be the last firestick i use currently doing research to find a replacement in time for the 2024 Pro and College football seasons
5G internet by Comcast at these prices seems like an alternative to our current 1G Plus Xfinity Internet at a higher price. We really don't need high speed internet such as for gaming. 😊
I am of mixed thoughts about the merger between Disney, Fox, and WB for sports. They are getting rid of the middle players who raise their rates to make a profit, but at the same time there won't be competition anymore for sports so they will control the cost outright and charge what they want. The longer term problem is that Disney, Fox, and WB will lose rights to many sports in the next few years when renegotiations come out - so their banding together is a short term solution not a long term as when those contracts come up for review, we all know that Amazon/Apple will out bid everyone else to gain those sports those networks at Disney, Fox, and WB used to have.
exactly, and it is why this whole fight is stupid. Why should they be forced only to sell these channels to fubo. Only reason these companies exist is that the content providers didn't have the infrastructure or means of delivering the content years ago, but now they do.
I don't care about Sports TV so that channel can be banded and not effect me. I hope what it give in The Net Neutrality video will allow us in apartment complexs to chage ISPs without having to go thorw the court system.
No I do not think that this sports package is a bad thing because hopefully the flip side will happen if this new sports package goes through. I'm hoping it also means that hopefully it open the door for closer and closer to al la cart. I'm hoping that say if I want to get the Disney channel but I don't want to see ESPN, that because of this new package it would almost force the companies to let me have one channel without having to take all the channels.
I agree. As a sports fan, I love the idea of paying just for the sports channels and not all those channels that air reality TV, the cable news food fight, etc. I spent most of the 80s and 90s accessing television through a backyard dish. Even after the cable channels started scrambling their feeds, there were companies such as Turner Vision that offered the big bundles, but also a la carte. You could just pick the channels you wanted and pay a fixed fee (very reasonable at the time) for each. I hope that can happen with streaming in the future.
Nobody is saying this is a bad thing, even Fubo and other TV providers. However what they are saying is that this is anti competitive and a violation of antitrust, which it is. Ultimately what the TV providers are hoping to gain is the ability to offer similar packages so that the end consumer doesn't have to pay for channels they don't want but with the current contracts they are forced to carry those channels and pass the cost onto the consumer.
I'm looking forward to METV Toons and I'm in my 40's. There is a bunch of us who grew up watching many of these cartoons. It will be fun to share viewing time with the kids. These classics will gain new fans in the younger generation. They simply don't make cartoons like they used to. For the company's sake, I hope that Warner Brothers has some new animated projects in works, even if we likely won't see them for another year or 2 years.
The more channels like this, the better it is for consumers. We have to pay so much for TV as it is. Would you really want to pay for 50 year old television. These networks give new life to shows that would just be sitting on a shelf collecting dust. If they can make ad revenue by airing them, why shouldn't they. Yes they could turn it into a subscription service, but in today's fractured market, they would never get enough subs to be profitable
@@greyeagle4388 The problem is that no one wants to pay for old stuff. New and original programming costs money to produce, so that justifies the companies charging a monthly or annual fee to view them. But a retro channel? Nah, people aren't willing to pay for that, at least not by itself. Ideally, a streaming service should have both classics and originals.

Me tv the best place to watch real classic tv better than this garbage that’s out today
Will the cartoons be edited for sensitive viewers?, if so, it’s pointless
