    You can be more generous with the thermal paste, putting more than you need is better than not putting enough.
    Edit dec9 2023 : Also, the thermal pads are totally optional. Thanks to @starXY1 , I have come to realization that the thermal pads could worsen the thermals of the laptop so you can just ignore that part of the video. (I'm not certain about this information but do as you wish.)

    I appreciate your editing skills. Are these great laptops? I have one of these as well. The computer has a lot of sentimental value. My sister gave it to me. Unfortunately she has since past away. Would you recommend doing what you did here? Thank you

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  2 года назад +4

      This laptop isn't the best out there, it was mid-low range when it released so today its a bit underperforming. However, it is still a great laptop for web browsing, watching videos, writing documents and playing some games on low settings.
      I would definitely recommend upgrading the ram to 8gb, reapply the thermal paste and switch the hard drive with an SSD. Removing the dust and cleaning the fan would also be a good idea.
      If you don't want to risk breaking something, you could pass the thermal paste replacement.
      This upgrade should make the laptop last at least 1 to 2 more years before needing to get something better.
      Sorry for your loss.

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  2 года назад +2

      You should be able to find all you need on Aliexpress, Facebook marketplace or on ebay. It should be pretty easy to upgrade following the video.
      For the ram, make sure to get it at 1.35V , not 1.5V for it to work. An ssd is also really helpful in increasing the laptop speed.

    Very helpful video brother! We have the same laptop, I want to upgrade my laptop for gaming purposes. What are your recommendations for the parts brother?

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  2 года назад +1

      For gaming purposes, I would really recommend upgrading your ram and changing to an SSD. You can also replace the thermal paste if you notice that your laptop gets hot.
      The SSD will help you load games faster and textures will load faster.
      Ram will allow you to run stuff smoothly. You should pick another 4gb ddr3 stick at 1.35volts and same speed as the one you have so you can run at dual channel. I recommend corsair, but anything is fine really.

    • @jamortiz452
      @jamortiz452 2 года назад +2

      Brother I bought 16gb ram and 240 ssd. A little bit lag on valorant. May I ask what are your settings in valorant to make it fast?

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  2 года назад +2

      With 16gb ram you now have 20gb ram in your laptop? So 4gb + 16 gb? If yes, that means you're not running in dual channel sadly but it's ok.
      To increase performance, I debloated my windows by deleting everything I don’t need and disabling some background services.
      I also downloaded "Throttlestop" and undervolted the cpu to make the temperatures better.
      Finally, I downloaded process lasso and for valorant I set the application "Valorant Win Shipping 64" to :cpu priority high" and "induce performance mode".
      You can find tutorials for all three steps on youtube.

      I replied to your other comment that asked the same thing:
      If you want to swap the motherboard with one that has a gpu it should fit, you would need to buy a new heatsink radiator though because it's not the same for the one with gpu and the one without.

      You can clean the fan and the bottom of the motherboard without disassembling everything but for the thermal paste you do because the motherboard is upside down in the laptop so to access the cpu and gpu you need to take it off.

      As for what to look for, ram is probably your first priority to stop stuttering and lag.

      If it's not opening but turning, then something's wrong and the screw hole is ruined.
      If it's not opening and not turning, then you just need more elbow grease. Make sure you put pressure directly onto the screw, not sideways, and use an appropriately sized screwdriver tip. Also righty tighty lefty loosey.
      Make sure not to poke a hole through the mobo!

    2. 2401mhz
    3. Model number 20351
    4. 4GB ram, 425GB "C" Drive & 25GB "D" Drive

      I recommend 8gb ram and 240Gb SSD. If you plan on doing video editing, gaming or want to have more applications open at the same time go for 16gb ram or 12gb.
      128gb ssd isn't enough storage, I wouldn't recommend it.
      When you're buying the ram, make sure it is 1.35V not 1.5V because the laptop has low power dimms.
      Also make sure the ssd you buy is 2.5" or the same physical size of your HDD so it can fit. Also buy the same mhz of ram because it's the maximum of the system.
      If you want to transfer the files from your hdd to ssd you can use a sata to USB cable and copy all the files using a program called "Disk Clone"
      Ask any other questions if you need.

      Hello, it is technically possible but you may run into problems. The laptop might have a wifi whitelist so it would only work with certain models.
      You can check this forum that has info about your question: forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-B-and-G-Series-Notebooks/Lenovo-G50-70-Laptop-s-Wifi-Card-Upgrade-From-2-4Ghz-To-5Ghz/m-p/5078420

      Hello, I had the same type of problem, I tried to take the ram from my old hp laptop and put it in Lenovo G50-70 but it didn't work.
      The problem for me was the voltage.
      The new laptop takes 1.35V ram and old one takes 1.5V. So if you put the old ram in the new laptop it won't work.
      I don’t know of its the same problem but check the voltage of the old ram and if it's 1.5V it doesn't work.

    Hey quick question tho, btw good day Mr. YoussGm, so basically what im asking is i have here my lenovo g50 80 and it has socket 1168 on-it so basically it shows alot of processors (that possibly fit on the socket) my question is, can i upgrade my lenovo g50 80 with i3 to i5 or i7 whatever? Just want to upgrade my laptop tho 🥹

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  Месяц назад

      The cpu is soldered on the motherboard so it isnt possible to upgrade the cpu unless you have some specialized equipment.
      The cpu is glued on with metal, so its basically one piece with the socket. You would have to heat it up until the metal melts and then have a special template to add new solder to the new cpu.

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  2 года назад

      You can't change the cpu on this laptop, it is soldered onto the motherboard. Even if you unsolder it, the cpu socket is not the same because intel and amd use different sockets.
      If you want to change the cpu, you're gonna have to engineer your own motherboard as I don't believe this laptop model comes with an amd cpu.
      Practically impossible.

      Changing the thermal paste when the temperature is lower than 90⁰ is not really worth it. Performance is going to be the same and you won't gain much from it.
      75C is perfectly fine but if you want to make it lower, try undervolting the cpu with ThrottleStop, a really useful program.

      I never saw this error code before but after searching on google and since it is a driver problem, you can try these two tutorials.
      m.ruclips.net/video/WW-I4CtEVI0/видео.html
      The first one is more simple so it might not work but you should try
      m.ruclips.net/video/bP-2B14Nckw/видео.html
      This second one uses ddu so it completely deletes the old driver and reinstalls it onto the gpu, make sure to follow all the instructions and read the first comment telling you to close the wifi.
