No she wasn’t. She was a byproduct of the problem. Both Evelyn and Michael admitted on several occasions that they were having problems in their marriage before Wanda. Michael said that Wanda gave him an escape from Evelyn’s behavior… I’m assuming he meant on an emotional level. And as anyone will tell you, when you are unhappy in your relationship, you will eventually gravitate to the person who puts their hands out to you and is there for you. So eventually Michael and Wanda’s relationship went from emotional intimacy to physically intimacy.
After seeing Evelyn’s behavior throughout the season and then her behavior on the Iyanla episode in addition to what Trina said in her own episode on Iyanla, I believe Evelyn truly drove him crazy

Michael was a MINISTER who slept with 1 of his churchgoers behind his WIFE'S back for NINE YEARS and Wanda knew he was married and kept being his 9 year mistress. IDC how Evelyn was. Michael had the choice to leave, for his own peace of mind, but he chose to stay and cheat. That's low down and ungodly to do, especially for a MINISTER.

It’s a dangerous thing when a man goes outside his home looking for peace.
They got divorced after 35 years of marriage. So they probably got divorced in their early 50’s. That means that Ms. Evelyn had to find out her husband cheated, then had to find out her marriage was over, not getting anything in the divorce, then her husband getting remarried while being middle aged. Imagine having to start over at that age. New bank accounts, credit cards, new house, new health insurance life insurance etc.

Michael and Wanda are both deplorable, to me. Wanda knew Michael was married, yet she remained his mistress for NINE YEARS. She even went to the same church as the Braxtons and she knew Evelyn. What did the mom and children do wrong? He openly admitted the HE chose not to go around his own children. They said multiple times they’d call and he wouldn’t answer, they’d tell him they were in town he wouldn’t respond, in the first season they invited him out twice when they were in town and he didn’t show up. He and his current wife were completely wrong in that entire situation.

Wanda knew that’s the fucked up part she knew he had a family so those tears are from guilt and she should feel guilty but at the same time actions are permanent so you have to forgive yourself and do the work to get those girls to forgive and heal with you .
Ms. Evelyn did a grave disservice to her daughters. She gave them anger, confusion, strife, and manipulation. She allowed her feelings as the wife of an adulterer, to be transferred and taken on by her children, in her own effort to be the victim and to have the support. He cheated on his wife, not his children. He failed as a husband, but where he went wrong was allowing his guilt, hurt and shame, make him fail as a father. Where the mother failed was when she encouraged and basically reveled in that divide.

I checked my initial comment again and sure enough I placed a time stamp on why I thought Miss E and the other sisters treated Traci differently. I’m sure Miss E expected Traci to resent and feel a way about Wanda and Traci did not do that. Out of her own mouth, she said, “that’s my father’s wife and I’m gonna respect her…”.
The other sisters didn’t have a rapport with Wanda like Traci did. This is also evident when Trina got married. At the wedding, Traci was sitting with and conversing with Wanda.

Exactly! I remember on one episode Ms E said Wanda wasn’t the only woman he was with and he was cheating with other women in their church.
So from my understanding this was the only man Evelyn has been with before the divorce. He cheated for 9 years and divorced after over 20 years. So when did he leave the house because they made it seem like they were kids when the daddy left, and Tamar was in her 20s when they divorced in 2000. They must’ve been having marital problems since Toni was in HS at least.
They were fully grown when the affair was revealed and he left the home. The mother was upset because he remarried within 30 days of them divorcing. He was her first everything. They started dating at 14 and 15 yes old. Married at 18. They divorced well after Toni was established as an international superstar. The divorce happened shortly before Toni's wedding to Keri. Toni didn't invite Ms Wanda to the wedding. He walked Toni down the aisle and gave her away. But when Trina had her wedding and didn't invite Ms Wanda, he didn't show up to Walk her down the aisle. He didn't show up to give her away. Traci and Michael was the closest to him because while Tamar and Trina and Towanda had uprooted and relocated to Atlanta to be with Toni, Traci and Michael stayed put in the Maryland DMV area, in the same vicinity as him. Toni was mad because during divorce proceedings he plead that he couldn't pay any alimony. Which made Toni be responsible for all of Ms Evelyn finances. Even though she had just came out of bankruptcy.

Look at the destructive long term damage an affair has on the entire family. He absolutely should have left if the fell out of love. And Miss E needs ro accept what her role was in the break down of the marriage. Not that she is to blame in anyway for his betrayal and choices, but before that what was the marriage like. It takes 2 to breakdown a marriage so Evelyn is not innocent. What Papa Braxton did was horrible and Wanda but the fact is he loves her and choose to be with and married Wanda. Ms. E put her pain on her girls since then and they been in a constant battle of what side to pick. Why does a child (adults now) have to pick and walk on egg shells for the other parent to heal and feel comfortable. That's wrong. I think Traci and Mike Jr staying in Maryland helped them see the whole pic and everyone's part, that's why she stays quiet and shows respect. Mommy and Daddy are humans too. I will say had the dad just handled leaving the mom right things would be different but who knows what kind of toxic relationship he and Ms. E had. I think it's sad that she has wasted life not trying to love another man again and keeping that bitterness inside her. All this time and you still can't be around him. Chile let that shit go.

I reside with Toni on a lot of things because I myself am the first born. I have 6 siblings (one on my moms side because she got remarried and my dad well… chile, anyways) and all us first borns wanna do is just keep the peace and just have everyone close together. We are the first ones to be around our parents so we understand their struggles and their emotions because we’ve got to see and understand before our younger siblings understand.
In my opinion, yes every has a role in the story. Papa Braxton, Ms. Wanda, etc. If Papa Braxton was unhappy that doesn’t mean go cheat, that means sit down have a conversation with your spouse and get a divorce if that’s where the conversation leads to because you took an oath to love and hold and to cherish one another till death did you part. Communication is key.
Also, everyone’s feelings and opinions are valid and i’m happy that the sisters saw Ms Wanda wasn’t the reason for all the madness
