bro I SWEAR UR THE BEST u changed the way my videos sound I did it to my last video and it made it sound 100000 times better your the best bro I can't thank you enough
Save a preset? you can't save presets for audio track mixer, but you can recreate these settings with drag and drop effects. Once you've recreated these settings, ctrl click both to highlight, right click, then "save preset"
Hi FStoppers, just letting you know that you can help get rid of the low rumble before the compressor with a quick high pass filter (eq). That way your compressor won’t be reacting to any low subs that you can barely hear.
My wife thinks I'm cheating on her with this video because I come back to it so often. Brilliant explanation and I copy your settings almost every project.
You need to High Pass Filter to try to actually fix those plosives, actually you should use a pop filter or just approach the mic differently (even if the Rode Broadcaster has a built in pop filter, it's clearly not enough). I recommend you just drop the multiband compressor, just add an EQ dipping the mid range and add a regular compressor, and leave the limiter just for the loudest parts. And you also should add the noise reduction BEFORE the compressor to each track for the best result.
+1 on everything, especially the noise gate. Now you're boosting the noise on each track, and then trying to get rid of it after it has been mixed down. I would use on the seperate tracks: noise gate -> eq -> compressor. And then limiter on the master, maybe some slight eq tweaks to compensate for the room.
Thankyou Patrick. Very good post. With several tutorials available out there for cleaning/enhancing dialogue audio, yours stands out a great deal. I found it well fulfilling. It shows how deep you're queued into the process. Great going. And ones again, big help, thankyou for sharing.
Are you telling me you can't hold alt and just drag a duplicate plugin from one track to another like in pro tools? Or at least copy and paste the settings so you can have the same starting point for the compressor on your second channel....
8:45, the B button does not stand for Brickwall, it is a bypass button to turn OFF the limiter effect. So when you tell people to make sure it's on, you're actually telling them to make sure it doesn't do anything. S = Solo, B = Bypass in the Multiband Compressor.
This is interesting because yes the S and B buttons do refer to that under the individual parameters but now that I play with the latest version of Premiere, the B next to the limiter box (far right side) doesn't seem to do anything when clicked. If I click the B or S on the 4 band eq, I can here it turn off or solo those bands but not with the B on the Limiter box. -P
@@FStoppers Strange. I wonder whether this functions correctly in Audition or not. I do 90% of my mixing in Premiere, probably to my own detriment thanks to bugs like these. Thanks for looking into it.
Thanks for this.... Please what can I do right Now.. I added a tube compressor and denoiser to my video but I couldn't play back due to system's fault.... After I exported the video I now realised that the audio effects is not good and the rushes have been deleted from my system... please is there a way I can correct the denoiser and tube compressor effects from the already exported video in premier pro...
Great video! finally some real advice, and IM REALLY glad i saw your video, I hadent even turned on the limiter!!!! ahha I thought I used it but nope! :D thx!!
Travis Kraft I argued with Lee that we can’t release them all back to back. I was worried people would ask if you saw the Ritz video and people would ask “which one?” -P
@@FStoppers I was hoping for a back to back upload of those. That is one of the best videos you have released in the past few years. I still remember your video on your personal channel where you are on a boat, getting the message from Ritz that they closed down.
Hey, I have an audio recording where the lows are a bit missing at the beginning, but in the middle they are there. Can I adjust the sound for only a part of the audio clip? thx
Awesome! Loved it! Thank you. I've been doing non-linear editing since 2004 and I love learning new things. I'm curious what you would have done to the next portion of dialogue that began clipping at around 9:34 in the video.
RT 76 you can yes, but you want to solve the individual channels’ problems first. I didn’t address the idea of also having a soundtrack on this production and anything placed on the master will affect the music as well. I try to get each channel to sound as good as possible without doing much to the master. -P
i got around that by just saving my workspace with the compressor sized how i want it. i still don't know how to really use multiband but it's there lol
No because, well, the audio is digital. They do make a tube compressor but I'm not sure if that would make a digitally recorded audio track sound analog. -P
The way you do it is faster! But you can make presets... You can use a normal compressor to cut the picks and bring up the volume, EQ to cut the low end below 100k and boost the vocal range you like! Use a " de-esser" to cut the "sss" on the high end, and a " gate" to cut sound below the voice in the parts! 😊
@@FStoppers So as a sound engineer I disagree a bit with the comment above :) As long as the other crossovers doesn't kick in it won't take any affect because the threshold is higher than the signal that gets in. Yeah, its not the ideal way of cutting the lows but its also an option. The only thing i would think if to use a Multi-band compressor is in term of CPU performance, which is not an issue these days. The alternate way would be: EQ (High-Pass filter or using a puffer when recording) - Compressor for the all track (some can be compressed by frequency range) and a De-Esser. And this brings me to the point that what you did is faster and gets the same results ;]
That compressor is doing absolutely nothing, not a single peak is going above the threshold for it to start compressing, nao gain reduction is happening in any band at all. you need to lower those thresholds till they start compressing... the red "VU bar" besides the threshold fader shows how much compression is going on and none of them are modulating. All youre doing there is boosting the make-up gain. Please have a look at what im saying this is very important.
nice tutorial, but switching the camera from the interface to you to the interface is a bit jarring and annoying. just focus on the interface, and make a mini-window of yourself in the corner. thank you.

i have that same wrist brace on your desk. very helpful video
Thanks for the excellent info! I'm happy to confim my compressor page popped up full size in July '22

Hey, when i click the "limiter" button to activate it and change to -3 it the deactivates after a while? Is this important?
So So SO very helpful...thank you!!!
Guys, any idea how to make a preset out of these settings?
you have to remake the settings with drag and drop effects. Afterwards, ctrl click both multi band and de noiser, right click, "save preset"
U used margin to set the limiter high, but another video used the "threshold" option to do that. I used threshold and it worked so what's the diff?
Awesome! Loved it! Thank you. I've been doing non-linear editing since 2004 and I love learning new things. I'm curious what you would have done to the next portion of dialogue that began clipping at around 9:34 in the video.
I think I could do this...
Thank you!
I haven’t created a single project on there. On my iPhone and iPad on the other hand, I’ve created multiple s and soft in just one
I'm pretty sure the "B" means by-pass. So highlighting that would actually turn the limiter off.
I think you're right. It seemed to re-engage when he entered -3 at 8:43
Do you really need to click on that B button on limiter? Or just by changing the Margin parameter it will work...? Thanks!
Don't click the B button if you want the limiter to do anything. It is a bypass button

just be careful in adding noise reduction on the master lane, cause if you have music it will act on that as well. Btw 40% is often way to high!
