I dare to say that the success of this series is mainly in the fact that the feelings between the main characters were not played, but real. To be honest, I've never been into BL drama and everything that goes with it. But only until I saw The Untamed. I dare to say that the success of this series is mainly in the fact that the feelings between the main characters were not played, but real. And this is what gave the series the essence of exceptionality, believability and unforgettability. They are both great actors, but together they are unbeatable. Therefore, it is a great pity, and especially for the Chinese film industry, that it prevents them from doing so. After all, only thanks to this series, I started watching Chinese productions, even though I am from a completely different region and culture. So, when they are prevented from playing together, from being together, they lose a lot of money and, ultimately, exposure to viewers from other countries.
I am the same. I never watched anything coming out of China until I saw this series. Then, I discovered Word of Honor which is also really good. It's just ridiculous. Nothing happened on screen in the Untamed that was shocking between them! Not one thing. For there to be such an uproar is just stupid, and I rarely watch Chinese productions now because I can't stand that kind of censorship as an American citizen. We don't have that nonsense here.

What upsets me the most about all of this is that they clearly were wonderful friends. They had fun together. I don't understand a culture that forbids genuine friendship between two men and makes it impossible for them to even interact together publicly. What kind of a country is that?
