My mum died 30 years ago last Friday...Buddy was her all time favourite singer-I listened to him constantly as a kid. She had bloody good taste in music, he was fantastic. ❤
Buddy would have been 83 years old today. R.I.P you great artist, you are gone too soon indeed. Guys just imagine how he would have been great and famous if he was, live. I'm sure he would have been performing to this day, even in his eighties.
As an 8 year old child coming home from school one day, I heard this song coming from a radio from a car that stopped at the corner. Since then, it has, and still is my favorite introduction to Rock and Roll!
This and It Doesn't Matter Any More were among the first rock 'n' roll songs I heard as a small child, because my nan used to have some of Buddy Holly's hits playing sometimes when we visited her house back then.
So ahead of it's time. A simple, beautiful "little" love song. But 65 years later people are still listening to it everyday and are captivated. It sounds as fresh as ever. The song was also so innovative. Who ever heard of a Glockenspiel in rock 'n roll ? And drummer Jerry Alison slapping his thigh for the percussion! Plus just learned this...in those early days of recording they had to do it live with one microphone. So the the loudest instruments were furthest away from the mic. Can't you envision Jerry right next to the mic, slapping his thigh as Buddy is singing? Amazing. The song is still so crystal clear. Thanks Buddy, Joe, & Jerry. You inspired a whole generation of rockers including a couple of guys named John and Paul. Not bad...
@ebrandt9698 Well it spoils that it's not so soft quiet and romantic and that it's not a happy ending so from there it's easy to make some assumptions. Idk
I always wondered what Buddy would have done had he lived into the 60s. Would he have grown his hair and turned his amp loud? Would he have gone psychedelic and taken drugs or would he have led the way and maybe the entire musical landscape would be different now? He was so talented it's just hard to imagine what direction he might have taken. But I definitely believe that he would have stayed relevant in one way or another if he'd had the chance.
Just learned about Buddy Holly in my history of rock and roll class for college, "The day the music died" is a fitting description of what happened when this legend of an artist perished, not to mention his colleague's, Richard Valenzuela and "The Big Bopper" Richardson. Truly a tragedy that should never be forgotten. Rest in peace to all three.
The fact that this nearly 70 year old song has discovered a new following thanks to Good Omens just reminds me of the lovely power of a good fandom. Glad to be amongst you all.

My 1 year old daughter adores this song. When the instrumental part starts she occasionally sings along with a, "Da, da-da."
Its the cutest ever. Whenever she's crying in the car we turn this on and then she's happy as can be.
Your daughter has great taste 😉
Aww that’s so cute 🥰
What a good voice nice memory I love listening to his music. How are you Hannah ?
"everyday, it becomes faster"
True.

@@rickylafleur9855 The fact that it's funny is funny, the fact that you don't understand your own comment just made it doubly funnier lmao.
Idk if you were sarcastic lol.
This song will always be on the Jukebox to comfort the afflicted. Where Beelzebub is, there will be my paradise. Archangel Gabriel.
I first heard this in the movie Stand By Me when I was a kid and loved this.
Me too! They had good music all thorought that movie.
Love that movie 😂
Best movie ever
My mum died 30 years ago last Friday...Buddy was her all time favourite singer-I listened to him constantly as a kid. She had bloody good taste in music, he was fantastic. ❤
@Älaan Hugrēsįk Thank you so much. ❤
May your mother's soul rest happily in heaven.
@@jchbros1788 I appreciate that a lot, thank you. ❤
Hey
Bless you and your family 💕
Music never dies. It just takes a little break sometimes. And in the mean time, the classics inspire.
I love that quote man 😂
As soon as you start hearing this song, you find Buddy Holly's smile grow bigger, and so does your own smile 😊❤️
I use to play this to my daughter way back in 2010, when she was a baby. Such a perfect song for putting babies to sleep.
Лет 5 назад, я слушал эту песню и теперь она есть в Благих Знамениях. Бадди Холли настоящая легенда
я слушаю это уже десятый раз именно из за БЗ,
So ahead of it's time. Not bad...
I was so excited that this song was featured more in Season 2.
Crowley and Aziraphale have my heart ❤️
I CAN'T STOP CRYING OVER IT!!!!!!
😢🖤🖤😢
I’m glad Gabriel had his moment in Good Omens but that ending has me absolutely heartbroken. They better fix everything in S3
@@dhautcourtrosie6919 This doesn't really spoil anything...
@ebrandt9698 Well it spoils that it's not so soft quiet and romantic and that it's not a happy ending so from there it's easy to make some assumptions. Idk
@@dhautcourtrosie6919it's more complicated than that anyway, it barely spoils anything
They better have a season 3
@@prccap if they don’t I will be so upset. I need closure 😭
SO BEAUTIFUL- WE SHALL NEVER EXPERIENCE MUSIC LIKE BUDDY'S EVER AGAIN.

@@nrkboys7345 He would have become a great country music star like his protege Waylon Jennings

I think he would have gravitated toward an outlaw country style. Similar to Cash.
He would have fronted Weezer.

AMO GOOD OMENS COMO A ESTA CANCIÓN✨
Hearing buddy holly makes me smile. Reminds me of being a little boy riding around in my grandpas grand am, eating werthers caramels, listening to buddy holly cassettes. Now that papa’s passed, I hear buddy holly in random places as a grown man, and it just takes me back to a time that warms my soul which is important in the divided weird world we now live in polluted by worldly clamors that get in the way of cherishing these happy thoughts. Life is short and precious. Create good memories with people. It sure is better than being an asshole!

True, and it's a tragedy Holly died as he did. Way too soon :(
I kinda like the music from my generation. Maybe because I'm more of an energetic person
It is. Much of the music in the mainstream and churned out on the radios everywhere today are Acapellas with maybe an acoustic guitar or a bit of synth. Very minimalist.
Life should be simple 🙁
