This series is my favorite. Makes me go through my collection and see what I loved from each year. For 1994, my short list from what I own: D&G Pour Homme (made in Italy), L'Eau D'Issey, Millesime Imperiale, Iris Silver Mist, vintage Polo Sport...and that's about it! Not a huge year in men's fragrance. On my 1994 to try/own list: Pavarotti, DK Fuel, and Catalyst.
I hope you get to try those last three frags man... they are some of the best from 1994 I have a decant of Iris Silver Mist and its a stunner... I will do a video on it soon ... one of the best Iris frags of all time 🤌🤌🤌
One thing I would say about Faconnable is that it's a kinda cross generation fragrance like a Creed Silver Mountain water or millesime imperial: Mature and sophisticated enough that guys our age would like it, but fresh and appealing enough that younger people will also like it as well. And although I've grown to like darker more mature stuff I think it would be a great recommendation for people who like that balance
In '94 I was 17yo, how could my life be at that time only if i was aware of all this material....a little world on his own. I remember that year a bought a bottle of the brand new Aqua Quorum...well, I guess is just the way it was.
Hi Ramsey! A wonderful display as always! This time I can't tell so much of your ranking because I haven't any experience about these fragrances except new batches of D&Gph which is delightful. Living in Argentina is to catch old pieces which others let go free for bargain. I foolishly let go a Voyageur last year 😟. But don't doubt I take note of your reviews, you are forging a hunter spirit 😄! Anyway, from 1994 I can highly recommend to you three jewels from designers I use to enjoy a lot. Can you tell me if you had any experience with them and how was if any, please? First one is Aqua Quorum from Antonio Puig. In the vein of RLPS, and again the nose is Harry Freemont, but this time in collaboration with Alberto Morillas and Rosendo Mateu. Some say that Freemont took the DNA from AQ and then take it to RL to make the famous top seller. Second one, Eau d'Issey pour homme. I love the Issey Miyake house because they use to go their own way. Very zen like citric tart and aromatic flowery woody scent created by Jacques Cavallier. Yuzu and lotus flower made a very unique scent at the day. The last one, Paco Rabanne XS (the one in the tall flacon, zipper top) is a very woody aromatic scent created by Gerard Anthony and, again, Rosendo Mateu. It has the PRph rosemary sage juniper geranium rosewood oakmoss DNA in the foreground, but in a whole new beautiful creation, a thorough 90s child. Creed's Himalaya took its DNA if you can make sense. Go ahead with this marvelous audiovisual scentpedia! Regards from BA!
Thank you for a beautiful comment... according to parfumo XS pour homme came out in 1993. I have been sticking with parfumo just for consistency sake. I owned and used an entire bottle of Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme about 16 years ago... but I dont currently have any juice left I have never smelled Quorum Aqua 🙂
Brilliant video, as always. You, Sir, are becoming the most thorough reviewer on the web, and now clearly my favorite one. Btw, it's pronounced fa-so-na-ble... I also still have the older bottle (used it back in 1998). I also have an original Italian version of DGPH. Delightful. Found it "hidden" in a pharmacy last year, and got it for a cheap price, they didn't realize what it is, and wanted to just rid themselves from an old product so they sold it to me for 30$ 😀
I enjoyed this video, and I hope to try some of the ones you mentioned in it. I like "CK One", which I think was released in 1994, when I was in middle school. I didn't like it very much in 1994-1996, though, because of the type of people who would wear it, i.e. Fugees and Bone Thugs and Harmony fans who were hostile towards me because I had much better taste in things than they did. I've come to like "CK One" since then once I disassociated it from those thugs.
A couple years ago I made a very big mistake. A popular conversation going around the fragrance community at the time was "Do I have too many fragrances?" Up to that moment I had a pretty awesome collection, bunch of rare and discontinued fragrances. I ended up selling over half my collection, and the one I hated selling the most was Luciano Pavarotti. Going through that whole experience taught me one thing. Money comes and money goes, but my love for fragrances and having a wide selection to choose from at any given time and how much I can spray means so much to me. You can never have too many fragrances! Thanks as always for this great video, and thanks for reminding me about Polo Sport I kinda have a soft spot for it
Man 1994 I was finishing high school and I Remember wearing Joop, Fahrenheit, Issey Miyake, Drakkar, and Clearwater if I’m not mistaken wow time has flown by for us young lads. Thanks for the list and quick history flash good times!!!!
@@RamseytheRam ram it’s so many gems new and old houses far too many but you’ve got the goods you didn’t miss those classics and a few I’m trying to score now fraglifeeeee
Ramsey, I second that cheap price for Catalyst. I remember when all the T.J. Maxx, Marshall's, even Burlington Coat Factory had it for $9.99 because I had a 3.4 ounce splash.
Actually an excellent year for me. The quadrilogy of Tommy, L'eau d'Issey PH, Polo Sport and CK One really rocketed through the age gab, opening up the market to the younger generations. D&G's PH still my fav from the year, but even I wore that one for my elementary school graduation. And let's not forget my highschool signature Adidas Sport, that went through 2 renamings and 4 rebottlings before finally biting the dusty grass. 😄 A real hand-off year that would make way for ADG, Le Male and Boss #6 later in the decade, spelling the age of sweet aquatics and scenting school corridors and house parties everywhere.
For allergies, it's said taking 20-40,000 vitamin D every day will generally eliminate most allergies. That's roughly 45 bucks a year. Also taking local bee pollen January thru March. Now wearing Rogue's Targhee Forrest, Elizabeth Taylor's Passions for Men, and Darren Alan's Chypre No. 1 (one of the best perfumes I've tried and i doubt he's IFRA compliant.. God bless him :)
@@RamseytheRam A couple hours in it really started reminding me of a better version Robert Piguet's "bandit". I haven't tried the vintage of that with the all caps bottle yet.
Havana and D&G Pour Homme are my favorite tobacco fragrances EVER! Owned the Bongo Drum 🪘 for the Havana , the most sweet masculine tobacco scent EVER! I had it vintage a year ago , lasted about a year . I don’t mind if I grab another 100ml for $150 bucks. As for D&G , gosh , this one is my top 5 favorite scents EVER (the sticker logo version of course) which got me obsessed with perfumes when I was a kid.
Leau Dissey Pour Homme is my favourite from the 94 and its my dad's signature. No matter what I buy for him, he will never say its better than LDPH 😂 I love it too tho. That sharp Yuzu with the slight floral, musk, nutty and woody dry down is gorgeous. Fits my preference for sharp and clean fragrances really well. Another fragrances which has been reformed a lot 😅 From what I know, the 90's versions are nuclear and I cant even find a bottle of it anywhere but there are pictures of it. From the 2000's to 2011 was another version which still had crazy performance but they toned the Yuzu down cause too much Yuzu smelt like cockroach to some 🤷♂ It got watered down again after 2011 to 2020 which is slightly weaker but still decent. I still got +8hrs from it with great projection. After 2020, we have the current versions. They aren't bad but they smell more like sparkling lemon or lime on the top instead of tart yuzu. It got slightly better with maturation but performance isn't like the pre 2020 or before bottles. Sadly, I never kept the 90's bottle but I do still have bottles from 2009, 2011, 2017 and the current bottles. Hopefully I can find the 90's bottle at some point 😁 I love Luciano Pavarotti's music. I might have to try and get my hands on the fragrance to try it 👍
If you want two more great vintages have you heard of anucci homme, and anucco homme sport? Fragrance matt has a video on the homme version. Theyre incredible and less than 30$ on enay. They both came out in the 90s, the homme feels like the precursor to carnal flower by malle but better. And the sport feels like a better precursor to stronger w you, it smells like orange syrup with cinnamon its amazing....

MJ + Lisa Marie, that was as weird as it gets %) %) %) I'm really really curious to try Luciano Pavarotti based on Rich Mitch review, sounds interesting. But also the fact that you compare it to Givenchy Gentleman makes it even more appealing. Oh by the way, it's completely unrelated, but I just feel like I want to post it somewhere. I went to the store and smelled some new Amouages....... and if I'd be completely honest at some point I thought that maybe you're giving them a hard time, like how bad an amouage can be... but indeed I totally see what you mean. I came to a conclusion that the old Amouage as we know it is dead, from now on it's just a completely different house, it seems... very sad :( all the recent releases are just so generic and boring. They just don't smell like Amouage
Yes, there's plenty of them on eBay, short ingredient list. Easy to recognize because the old juice will be more green due to the oakmoss, also it will have the ugly atomiser stem inside the bottle, easy way to spot vintage.
Allergies...the enthusiasts' bane 😞(aside from fishmen taking over our favorite brands). I have just Pavarotti and DK - something in DK, and perhaps my nose is just up in the night haha, but I get (and really love) something to the effect of a wet cement facet. But today it's not as apperent in the bottle I have compared to my original memory. Anyway! YES, looking forward to when you do an overview on Iris Silver Mist 👀... 🙏✌
