This was very lovely... Im disappointed about the passing over of the Statendam 4, Veendam/Volendam 73, Nieuw Amsterdam/Noordam, 83, Westerdam 89. This was all before Carnival took over. The glossing over of the Prinsendam, 1973 was odd. She was built as the first new ship for the company in nearly 15 years, and was built with the boutique market in mind. Originally positioned in Indonesia, She was transferred to Alaska, in 75, when they saw how well Princess, P&O and Sitmar were doing up there. The ill fated Xanadu was one of the first boutique ships up there. So I would say artistic license was taken about who was up there first. Princess and Holland America definitely were the pioneers and invested heavily, but I would say this a bit on the boastful side. There was also the very innovative Random/Maasdam of 1951/52, that were overlooked. So while it was a great story, there were many things that could have been included. While I love the modern day fleet, my preferences are to sail on nothing bigger than Zuiderdam Class ships with a preference for Zaandam and Volendam. I wish they had edited out the laughing queens in the background..very rude, very annoying..
