I love these videos! You are such an inspiration to me . You look great btw. You eat all normal foods and no crazy or expensive foods/ingredients. Thank you 😀
👌I like how easy and inexpensive your meals are. I cook my beans in the instant pot and I only have one pot to wash. So quick too! I love mixing my cereal and my kids think it's weird 😂 lol I like raisin bran and cheerios with a little sweet cereal mixed in like frosted flakes or honey bunches of oats. 🤩 Oh and your before and after pics- you look great. Congrats! 🎉
It's simple but effective, love the layout step-by-step portion control dinners, love it! I completely understand going back to bed and staying warm. I pulled out the heavy blanket for lows - 4, 1/2 foot snow, winter is here.
I love how you eat such a variety of food and always eat what your body is craving while still eating a balanced diet! I also appreciate that you dont restrict yourself or eat the same things over and over. Ive gotten so many great meal ideas from these videos! I hope you keep doing them! It definitley helps to have a partner to workout with because there are definitley days I wanted to not do it and he will push me to follow through!
Make sure to soak the beans overnight to negate the phytic acids; especially important when on low calories as to not let nutrients go to waste. About the instant pot, have a bone broth with leftover carcass going for.a day, and the next day throw in the beans to cook in instead of water. Less dishes and more nutrition. :) Always love your creations! So simple and inspirational.

You look beautiful but not only because you have a beautiful figure but because you had the grit and guts to WORK FOR IT. I am so in awe. Thanks for making this TRULY motivating video. Thank you for sharing these! I've got some great meal ideas from your three weekly meal videos. I've actually taken notes on the meals with quantities so I could replicate. Please continue this series!
Another excellent meal plan video. I will cook up a large bag of dried beans then portion out into individual portions and freeze. They work great to reheat as needed for later uses. Noodles and cabbage stir fry looks so delicious. You do just a wonderful job explaining in detail each meal plan. Thank you so much for these detailed meal plans. This is so inspiring and helpful. Love Tamson 😇💗👍
I am one of those weird rare people who has no problem self-motivating to work out. I am a runner -- outside, year round, unless it is snowing which is rare where I live. I also do yoga at home and ride an indoor bicycle, which is something I've really loved doing during the pandemic!
I'm enjoying these weekly videos. They're practical. I have been switching from the body project or the 30minute walk exercises on youtube. Both are low impact until I get back in shape.
A tip for easy measuring and fewer items to clean, use a food scale. For example, if I wanted to measure 1/4 cup yogurt total on both waffles, put plate with both waffles on the scale, turn it on (or press the tare button to reset scale to zero). Select grams as the unit (food labels will typically include the serving size in grams). On my container of yogurt, 1/4 cup comes to about 56g (rounded down for easy math). 56g/2=28g (putting half on each waffle) Scoop yogurt onto the first waffle until the scale reads 28g. Press the tare button (which will reset the scale to zero), and scoop 28g onto the second waffle. Bonus points for using the (clean, lol) utensil you're going to use to eat with, then it's one less utensil to wash. 😊 Edited for poor typing, lol
Just found your channel, and I made your "broke girls flatbread." thanks so much! I love home cooking and make my own bread, but yours is so much easier and faster! Keep up the great work!
Love this! You are doing so great! I appreciate how you spread your calories throughout your day. I have a habit of not eating enough and then when its late I eat too much because I'm so hungry. You are inspiring me!
Oh it's strength training for me definitely because that boosts the metabolism and frankly works way better than cardio and I hate doing cardio. Now that I'm back to work I'm walking more so I get more cardio whether I want to or not LOL. I think your meal plan looks great and it's reasonable and easy to stick to.
Your diet is SO sane! No wonder you've been able to stick with it. It's so balanced, easy on the pocketbook, satisfies cravings, uncomplicated, and simple foods. Very inspiring! I just wish I had your self control to stop at 1 Tbsp M & M's. 😔
There are a lot of fun aerobic exercise videos on u-tube, with enjoyable bouncy music that I find useful when it's raining or cold and windy, and I don't want to go for my daily walk. Just save a few and they will be quick to find and do. Be sure to select one at the fitness level you are comfortable with. Being older and quite overweight, I am limited to the slower, gentler ones, but you are young and healthy, so you can really go for it!
Suelfitz, RUclips is great for exercise vids. I have some old exercise DVDs I should do. I can't do any intense aerobics like running or jumping or anything really fast. It triggers my anxiety. I'm into walking and mild aerobics, probably same stuff you would do :)
Do you have any other sumac recipes to share? Congratulations on the healthy weight loss. A fun desert type cereal mix is Honey Bunches of Oats with Cinnamon Toast crunch topped with bandana, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. My secret for yummy potatoes with out a lot of butter is to twice bake them. It gives the potato a naturally buttery texture and flavor.
@@vicki5766 I have two methods. Method #1 microwave potatoes for about five minutes and finish baking in the oven. Method #2 Bake the potatoes when I bring the bag home from the store so they don't sprout or go bad. Split into two batches, one for the freezer and the other for the refrigerator. I serve the warmed baked potato with a little olive oil with fresh cracked pepper or Tony Thackeray original Creole seasoning. Second way is with a small coating of butter and lemon pepper or Trader Joe's onion salt with fresh black pepper. The other potatoes I use in vegetable/root blend medleys, soups, stews and potato salads.
Unless it is dangerously slippy, I do the same outdoor exercise year round- 2 miles of walk and jog intervals 5 days/week. I love it, I feel so good getting outside and moving. My weight lifting-yea, I don’t look forward to that very much. My goal is to strength train 3x/week, but I often skip a day. I hope I can find pork roast on sale soon- that meal looks super yummy! You look beautiful. 💕
Just have to tell you again.. You really do this right!! So balanced and full of nutrition. And no deprivation! I can't live without pizza at last twice a week :)
You are a pillar of self control! I don’t think I have ever been able to eat one or two pieces of PIZZA. Haha. I try to just stick to 20 or 30 minute workouts or walks. I think the law of diminishing returns kicks in at some point and hour workouts just aren’t worth it for me mentally or physically. Love your videos!
LOL Thanks! I do slip up and eat too much sometimes. I don't do intense aerobics anymore. I'm finding it kick-starts my anxiety. I think your 20 to 30 minute workouts sound perfect.
I live in Colorado and we get some warm days...50 and even 60 degrees...even in winter. I go for bike rides and my route ends up being 7 miles round trip. I usually can manage this in the winter for about 3 days a week. I don't go if it's below 40 degrees because that makes it too cold for comfort. In the spring and summer I easily manage 6 days a week and give myself a day off on the weekend. I like walking too, but biking gives me a better work out for my body and most importantly my lungs. I have COPD and it really helps to open up my lungs with fresh air. :)
I love videos that are natural....just everyday life. I think it makes everyone relate and feel comfortable. I don't eat breakfast. I eat around 10 or 11am. I eat very little cereal. I love to stretch in the morning. During the colder months I dance for about 45 minutes and if I miss a day.....I don't care. When the weather gets nice I like to hike, swim, and ride bike. I too am so sluggish in the winter especially this year. I've been locked up because of the covid crisis. I'm sick of it. Take care and stay safe💕x
Once again, I’m so impressed with the variety of foods that you make. Everything looks delicious and healthy. I Occasionally I try to track my eating, but it’s so much work to enter every little ingredient. Especially when I cook family style. I have four kids and I don’t make individual meals for anyone. Do you ever get tired of entering all your foods each day? You really do work hard for these videos! Do you have children or other family members that live with you and your husband?
Hi Emery, I can understand how it could get tedious when everything is family style. I usually don't get tired of it because when I was younger one of the occupations I was interested in was being a dietician. But the app I use helps a lot of that because it has estimates for common meals like different casseroles, etc. It takes some of the work away. We are a family of 4.
For family style meals: choose a dozen, do the calorie counts and how many portions there are for an adult then make them exactly the same way each time : you won’t have to keep recounting. I divide into containers right after cooking then serve out of containers, there’s always a few left untouched- write calorie on it w sharpie and refrigerate for later. Mid week it’s container grab everyone gets something different or I just freeze it for me on a night I can more easily feed the family something different then again I don’t have to count up my own meal. I. A big fan of large meals so I’m not messing up the kitchen every night.
A low calorie sandwich option that includes the fresh mozzarella is to make up some quick bruschetta (tomato, red onion, basil, garlic, salt, pepper, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and the mozzarella) and stuff it in whole grain pita (or tortilla) with fresh spinach. It’s DELISH. Side note: I love these “what I eat in a day” vids! You look fantastic! I love your balanced approach to weight loss because it’s sustainable. I follow a similar regimen.
@@TheQuaintHousewife I’m in a healthy weight range for my height, but I haven’t always been. I’m a little heavier than I want to be right now, but I’m not overweight by medical standards. I’ve struggled with having an unhealthy relationship with food and weight for the majority of my life. It will always be a balancing act for me-as for most people actually.
@@TheQuaintHousewife Yes. American portions are so large that we have to retrain our brains with regards to portion sizes. Constant measuring can help us learn what appropriate portion sizes are when our eyes deceive us. Calorie counting also helps us learn what foods we can eat liberally and which ones we need to scale back on.
I am right there with you on the peanut bars. They are so darn good! Edit: For exercise, my goal is to get 10,000 steps a day. I hate working out, but love walking. I’m not trying to lose weight since I’m at a healthy number, so for me, it’s more about maintaining.
You should be proud of yourself. Thank you for sharing. I am sure this will help people. This is plenty of food. More than I eat in a day lol. I am one of those stick-thin girls you don't want to be. Lol. Good job measuring m&ms they are my weakness best candy ever.
Exercise is a must for me. It's about mental and emotional health. It compliments the nutrition, and my gym is an important part of socialization. It's slightly different with COVID but it still gets me out and seeing others. They push me to be better.....Crossfit includes the cardio and weights. I have to budget for it but overall it is worth the investment.
This is amazing because when I was growing up my mother was on a very famous diet and she was only allowed 1200 calories a day.. I didn't know I could have this many calories especially since I Run everyday. I am going to try it because I only want to lose 10 pounds
SF, everyone has different caloric needs. 10 LBS is not bad at all! I did this with slow weight loss in mind. I think my baseline caloric needs are 1800 according to my food app. So I am eliminating only 200 a day by eating 1600. My goal is about 10 lbs now too. Going to still take me a while.
Hi Mrs. Quaint. Lol, Hold the video at 5:10, Yes, I love to mix Cheerios and Chex cereal together, I call it x's and o's, or Chexios. I also like to put a little bit of Special K lemon blueberry with it. 3 cereals together is so good!! I have to be very careful however with my portions because I have a heavy cereal pouring hand. lol. Your food looks so so good!!! I live in Southern California and in the winter, the weather is really nice, so I like to walk every day for 3 miles. It really helps to get the fresh air and the warm sunshine for vitamin D and it just feels nice to get my butt moving. I got rid of 50 pounds 7 years ago doing WeightWatchers and I am trying to keep it off but I am afraid 7 pounds have creeped back on so I am back to tracking my food intake daily and logging my exercise. I really enjoyed your daily meals and they are healthy with a wide variety of whole foods offering excellent nutrition. You really inspire me and give me great meal ideas. Thank you for this video. xoxo
Sun Set, that is really nice of you! I know they look for you and see you coming! My husband makes peanut butter balls for the woodpeckers and stuffs them in a homemade log feeder.
Looks great. Where do you buy your mozzarella rolls ? Also I am doing calories as well. What do you put for calories for one of your flatbreads ? Thanks. ( because of my back and legs I just do nutrition only )
Hi Yolonda, the fresh mozzarella is at Kroger. I mention them in my diet foods haul video. The only calories are basically from the 1/3 cup of flour when you use 2 cups to make 6 breads., which I think is 150 calories. Just add in the amount of oil for calories. Baking powder and salt calories are negligible!
How do you prepare brown rice to make it taste good? I’d like to eat it more but I feel like it’s bland every time. Also, how do you wash your veggies and green lettuce to make sure they’re pesticide and bacteria free?
Rachel, what I usually do when I don't want the blandness is to place what I'm eating with it on top or mix it in. If you are eating it by itself, salt, pepper, herbs, and butter or oil helps. Sometimes I want the white rice. It also depends on how much fiber I need the rest of the day for which one I eat. I rinse the veggies off under running water. That's pretty much all I do. I'll scrub root veggies with my veggie brush.
LOL, I don't have an Instapot. I can't justify the cost to get one. I do have a big soup bowl. Tomorrow morning? I'm making a big batch of veg. chili for the weekend. I'm getting the second dosage of the vaccine tomorrow in the afternoon. My mom told me it's making people sick for two days afterwards. So I'm going to be prepared. I went through some of my canned goods, some expired so I threw them out today. Pest control is coming tomorrow. He looks for bed bugs (because two years ago they were a major problem), and then if I'm home he asks me if I've had any critters, or rodents.
Ummm all looks sooo good , I'm going to sound a bit like a baby but I don't like chicken breast always seems dry anothing else you think I can substitute or just get used to it lol ??? Just never found a chicken breast recipe I fully enjoyed ...
It was 200 calories less than my 1800 calorie or so maintenance the app says I need to sustain weight. I figured at 1600 calories the weight loss would be slow but I could still be happy and full.

It’s DELISH. Side note: I love these “what I eat in a day” vids! You look fantastic! I love your balanced approach to weight loss because it’s sustainable. I follow a similar regimen.
Kori, really good sandwich and thank you! You look slim (judging from your face in your avatar.)
Kori, that's understandable. I think a good balancing act is good for all of us.
Melanie, thank you. M&Ms are one of my favorites too. I bet slim looks good on you!
Good that you are doing what is best!
Your meals are very accessible, real food real amounts.
You may like the Nature Valley sweet and salty peanut bar. I love those.
Maria, I might have tried those in the past. Can't remember now. Thanks for the rec!
That blooper of him sneezing 🤣🤣
LOL -- the one where I scowl or the one where I ask him if he's done? Haha
@@TheQuaintHousewife both but the asking him if he's done was the best!
Wow Quaint you're doing superb!
Thanks! 😃
Hi Mrs.
Thank you for this video. xoxo
Dear Mrs, your weather sounds fantastic. I also like your cereal combo!
I’m on 1800 calorie diet and aim to burn 250-300 calories 5 days a week. I’m so impatient but I really need to lose 60 lbs.
Crispy, you are better than me. You are determined!
It all looks good!
I know you didn't ask but I highly recommend washing the beans before cooking.
Hi Patty, yes I always rinse the beans before cooking.
I eat broccoli stalks every time I have broccoli... roasted is very good, and you might like that better than just raw or steamed.
Also, Marzetti's slaw dressing is the best!!!!!
LOVE this series. LOVE ! 💙💙💙💙💙💙
In the Winter, i clip on a PEDOMETER, then go feed the wild birds and stray 9 month old kitten. That is what lures me out, even at -5° F. ✔
Sun Set, that is really nice of you! I know they look for you and see you coming! My husband makes peanut butter balls for the woodpeckers and stuffs them in a homemade log feeder.
@@TheQuaintHousewife
That is so sweet that you feed them - and a creative way, at that
I am a new subscriber. Love your video.
Yay! Thank you!
You always share creative meals... 🙆🏻♀️
Thank you 😋
I need this diet and meal plan for sure they all look good
Jill, thanks for watching and hope you enjoy whichever plan you are on!
I Love Your Diet choices.. you look Maaaaavelous!! I curious as to what u drink during your day...
80 ounces of water and thanks!
Congratulations! I am also a work in progress. You mentioned that you lost weight slowly. How long did it take to lose the 40lbs?
I lost the 45 lbs slowly over 3.5 years. Best wishes with your journey!
Insert gif of Jim Carey in "The Mask" doing the cartoon wolf whistle.
I only eat one meal a day. Im still gaining weight. I think its Quarantine and menopause. I'm going to give this a try.
What is the website you are using to track your nutrition?
Cronometer.
I know this about to be good! 😉
Ending : "Are you done?" 😄😄
LOL I didn't even say bless you because I was annoyed. I'm so rude. Haha
@@TheQuaintHousewife i had such a good laugh !
@@TheQuaintHousewife Ok thank - you !
Do you ever use sesame oil on your stir fried things? I love the flavor.
Jane, I haven't. Should I try? I always see it in Asian style recipes.
i eat those exact same so delicious ice creams i actually just got some the otherday i was out haha expensive but worth it they taste so good
Mmmmm! What's your dressing for the coleslaw????? 👍
Hi Momma, I mix mayo, vinegar, and sugar, to taste. I use Cronometer's listing for homemade cole slaw for calories.
You look beautiful. Thank you for sharing 😊 You are brilliant.
🤣🤣🤣"..are you done"
I used to mix SPECIAL K plain cereal, mixed with yogurt ✔
@@TheQuaintHousewife Cool, thanks for the tips!
You look amazing!
Excellent on the vaccine! Hope you speed through without much bother!
@@TheQuaintHousewife Thanks
I have noticed one thing that you don’t do a lot of ,,,is protein shakes , or smoothies.I couldn’t or wouldn’t want to live without mine.
Vikki, I haven't had smoothies in years. I hear many folks have them regularly.
Ummm all looks sooo good , I'm going to sound a bit like a baby but I don't like chicken breast always seems dry anothing else you think I can substitute or just get used to it lol ??? Just never found a chicken breast recipe I fully enjoyed ...
Kim, I got tired of chicken for about 2 years. I back to eating it. I think pork, tuna, eggs, or cheese can be substituted, depending on what is made!
How did you decide to do 1600 daily? This is so simple and manageable.
It was 200 calories less than my 1800 calorie or so maintenance the app says I need to sustain weight. I figured at 1600 calories the weight loss would be slow but I could still be happy and full.
What website do you use to chart your meals? And is there a cost for using this particular site?
Hi Tamson. It is Cronometer, and I use the free version.
