I actually think the Trek Lock is slightly different than other buttonlocks. From what I understand, it was created for the Kizer Cormorant. The blade rotates around the plunge which also acts as the stop pin. In most buttonlocks, the plunge sits behind the blade and is separate from the stop pin.
Just got one of the "Natural Jade" G10's with the satin blade in 14C28N. The inlay plates at the button is TI and holds the pivot and spring on the back side. It also has the reversible pocket clip. Great box cutter and fidget toy. The lines of the knife are clean and Scandinavian looking! 🤠👍
On the trek lock(?) the plunger goes through a slot in the blade. so it makes contact on both sides rather than one. Same as the Cormorant. Cool idea, but gives them kind of a weird *thunk* feeling.
I bought one a couple weeks ago in green micarta, stonewashed blade and brass pivot supports. It looks amazing to me - almost aggressively classy. However, mine also had problems. The button is CRAZY sticky on mine. I sent a video to Vosteed and they're sending me a new button to fix the problem (they insist that will do it). Centering was perfect for what it's worth and the micarta is seriously the nicest i've ever had. Oh! And mine is 14c28n, not Nitro-V.
@rainingman338 I'm in Canada, so the information is probably of limited value to you, but our dollar is about 30% lower than USD and knife prices about 30-60% higher (we get gouged a little because of import restrictions). That said, I paid right around $100 with shipping. It was hard to find one though, they sold out fast. I got the last one from a small retailer on the far side of the country. If it worked as good as it looks, it would be a winner.
Weird question but does just clicking your links alone help you out or do we need to actually purchase the item? I always click the links just in case but don’t know if that actually does anything
I was incredibly hyped for the vosteed raccoon, bought both button and bar lock versions.. they just felt cheap.. is it just me or are they just lower-end?
If the clip was mounted on the other side. How would it help lefty’s? One would still have to pull it out, then flip it over in the hand to deploy it right? I would think that’s more complicated of an action. Or am I wrong?
It would be the correct way for a left hander to pocket the knife safely (assuming a left hander pockets it in their left front pocket like most do). With the clip flipped to the opposite side, the blade spine would sit against the seam of your pocket with practically zero chance of it accidentally opening. If a lefty carried it with the pocket clip attached for right handers, the blade spine wouldn't be facing the seam of the pocket to keep it closed, but rather the open space of ones pocket where your hand enters.
Watch all your vids, new to knife world. I want to get a vosteed knife soon. I'm also interested in the new kalashnikov flipper from blade hq, haven't seen any reviews for it yet anywhere. May be worth reviewing.
I got a G-10 coated-blade version. In my world the T wo flippers conflict with common sense and yeah…it’s a budget knife…but I I found it to be cheap crap…I sent it back which I NEVER do.
It is a clean and cool knife but definitely not my style. Love Vosteed and I love what they are doing so hopefully they keep coming out with different designs to satisfy everyone’s needs

I really like that the blade is completely concealed. I have the we integral and it’s nice . Man what a boat anchor!

Great video MC, I just ordered their limited edition one. Your video has me so excited for mine to come in. Thanks for sharing your review

Maybe a mushy *kthwack*? Idk man. It loses some crispiness. Feels different and stuff.

how much did you pay for it? the only place i can find it is knife center. And i dont think 60 bucks for a tiny g10 knife is budget territory

I ordered one in their black Micarta, it's just got a style I can't stop thinking about.
Only the copper ones have nitro-v, the g-10 and micarta versions are 14C28N
Good to know
I was just looking at these last night! wish they sold the black with copper handles here in the US!!
I would love one in G10 or micarta just because of this design’s compactness.
Weird question but does just clicking your links alone help you out or do we need to actually purchase the item? I always click the links just in case but don’t know if that actually does anything
A purchase is what grants me a commission but I would prefer you only purchase something if you really want to. Thank you for asking 😊
@@metal_complex Thank you for your response and for making such great videos!
It makes me want to sharpen both sides of the blade and add the notch to match both sides.
Wait what you have never heard of a front fliipper or used one
Cool looking knife. Cool looking little dog as well. Thanks for doing great videos 👍 👍
I think front flippers are either love or hate, i personally cant get on with them but my brother in law loves them.
You forgot to mention the back and front flipper look like a corgis ears when the blades closed!!
unable to find the copper version anywhere. will you part with yours?!
The name alone made me get it, it's so cute lol
I was incredibly hyped for the vosteed raccoon, bought both button and bar lock versions.. they just felt cheap.. is it just me or are they just lower-end?
Exactly the same experience I had last year. They feel almost like toys
Why isn't there any reviews for the clever raccoon yet?
I like the form factor, looks nicer with micarta

I prefer the copper original from kizer, but I still love many vosteed knives!
Great review thanks 👍

i can never find the copper versions in stock anywhere. Ive been wanting the frag scale one for so long now
Cool design.
Where can u buy it in Europe
I literally can not find this knife in stock anywhere

how much did you pay?
You know what, just because of that, I'm going to make a version that flips from both sides. I'm going to call it a "quadruple detent."
9:03 😂 lol
My wife tells me 2.9” is just fine
MC like to sell this
BOING
Thanks
It is a clean and cool knife but definitely not my style. Love Vosteed and I love what they are doing so hopefully they keep coming out with different designs to satisfy everyone’s needs
Anyone else think vosteed knives seem cheaply made and not very well designed? Just my thought. 🫤
