The first of many updates as we show how build an upgraded engine for the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 / FRS and other supported models.
This engine will have a high power oitput aiming to more than double the factory rated power, and thats just the start!
These models are supported by EcuteK factory ECU tuning software with the option of the Race Rom upgrade for added features.
In this video we show how the engine compares to the older EJ series engines.
This engine is out of a Toyota 86 that is Supercharged and is prepared by MRT performance in Australia.
The engine will have new:
+ Pistons
+ Rods
+ Valves
+ Valve Springs
+ Valve retainers
+ Ported heads
and more
Optional ECU tuning includes
+ Automatic Engine blip on gear change
+ Flat foot shift
+ Launch control
and more
In this video you get to see more vision and interviews.

Subscribed! Ordered my 2015 BRZ today. Looking forward to modding her ASAP!
I still rock an EJ20t, but keen to keep an eye on these new fjs
Beewbs spotet .....but serious, ya Guys rock and always deliver great videos
MRT Performance, have you guys ever considered building individual throttle bodies and aggressive valve/spring kit with a stroker kit for NA builds?
I am interested in making 230-250Whp FA20 (FA21 with stroker)
Are you saying you can replace a big end bearing in this engine without removing this engine from the car like you can on inline 4s?
wow...that compression 12:1! Just wow!
MRT chanel pure gold. Keep it up! ;)
thanks
love all of your video , good explain you made an good job ;) give us more :)
thanks
What kind piston and connecting rods is this?
I've heard that some big diesel engines use offset conrods. Some big truck engines have a large power output. If these rods aren't as strong, why are they used in such heavy duty applications?
I agree. Why would any engineer decide to use offset conrods in a high power situations, or high compression situations, if they weren't strong enough for the task.

Glad I'm not the only one thinking this way.
I really would have appreciated a reply from MRT Performance too.
Neil Chand Cost management.. If you think engineers are the ones that dictate costs and the end result your poorly educated in these matters. Its about what is profitable and reliable at the minimal level
*****
You're poorly educated in human relations. Most of the general public are "poorly educated" in these matters, which is exactly WHY we ask "why?" So we might better understand the reasoning for such engineering decisions. Snide remarks like yours are what make the internet a shit place sometimes. Go elsewhere if you wish to start a fight.
Good day.
Just here to chime in 3 years later for no reason. Offset(split angle) connecting rods are used for ease of assembly. They transfer the forces of combustion unevenly compared to a standard straight cap rod. Make anything big enough and it will hand the stress of operation but now 3 years later the deficiencies of the FA20's connecting rods are well known. No way you would have known that 3 years ago buuuuuut Just sayin :)
can i put the new head on the old block? knowing how well the new engine makes power its hard to bring myself to mod an old one
depends on what parts you are swapping!
would be good to do a video on how to do this, cant find information anywhere!!
exactly on what though ?
on converting the direct injection head to the ej20 block. I think if they made a kit to somehow do it, it would be a hot seller. Since the new head would allow the older engines to build more power easier.
no way
I see a cordless snapon 3/8 impact :D
couldn't you just offset the compression with E85 i know guys running 20psi just fine on stock internals with e85
+ThatCarGuyClayton no there is no way e -85 can save a engine with compression.
yes ppl take risks, 20 psi is massive on this engine with stock comp!
+MRT Performance I just know a bunch of guys that do that because it burns a lot cooler than 93 Oct here. Hence why they're able to push more boost cause with out it I wouldn't go over 7psi. But with e85 a lot of people have been able to go over 7 like to around 15 or 20 and some of them have had zero issues.
do you think gasoline have the same e85 amount of calories? XD
အင္ဂ်င္ဂီယာေပါက္ျပဳျပင္နည္းတင္ေပးပါ
I'm so glad they went from a timing belt to a timing chain....Wait a second, NO I'M NOT! Great what a downgrade I guess they don't care about performance enthusiasts anymore.
He has nudie posters hehe
Split block... what a joke.
How else are you going to get to the crankshaft? Smacks forehead.
Im saying the DESIGN is a joke!.
+Marek Sumguy all boxer engines have to have a split block, old vw beetles and busses, Porsche, and Subaru, which are all good engines, low center of gravity. That's why Subarus and Porsches handle so well
Yes i know.... im saying i hate these HO engines!.
hi there, special snowflake :)
