- An interview with the star of Corrie, Heartbeat, Keeping Up Appearances and The Royle Family recorded in the run up to Absolutely Frank at the Oldham Coliseum. He discusses his role in Absolutely Frank, his career in television and theatre, his return to theatre and the North West, as well as his plans for the future.

How can you not love him? Ithink there's a little bit of "Onslow" in all of us. That's not so bad! Rest in peace my dear friend!
It's really interesting to listen to him speak as "Geoffrey Hughes." He was a very intelligent man, and certainly not lazy like Onslow.

i miss this man. he was funny as Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances and Twiggy in the Royle Family. of course he's known for many more roles but those were the 2 shows i knew him for best. a very good actor.

Rather odd that very few people actually mention his role as Vernon Scripps in "Heartbeat" because that was his longest lasting TV role, and also his best.

Onslow was just an older Eddie Yates, same as Twinky in the royal family.
He's played the same character on TV since the early 70s just under different names in different shows
