    Inspiration behind this video:
    This maturity extends to Paul Atreides' arc in Villeneuve's sequel, with trailers teasing Chalamet riding a sandworm and leading the Fremen people into battle against House Harkonnen to avenge his father's death. "In Part One, the camera was capturing the performance of a teenager-I'm talking about the character, someone who was learning about the world and experiencing a new reality," the director commented on his original Dune film's tone, whereas Dune: Part Two will explore how Paul transitions "from the boy to the man, and becomes a leader, and even, I will say, a dark charismatic, messianic figure. It was the first time that I witnessed someone growing in front of my camera."
    Compared to the previous Dune -- which won widespread acclaim and took home six Oscars -- Villeneuve has described Part Two as a "war film" with elements of a "love story" in how Paul develops a romance with Zendaya's Fremen character Chani. Additionally, like its predecessor, Part Two received a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association. Along with Chalamet and Zendaya, the movie will feature the majority of Dune's returning cast, as well as stars like Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Austin Butler in major supporting roles. Post-Dune: Part Two, Villeneuve has expressed interest in adapting the second Dune novel Dune: Messiah, and will executive produce Max's TV show Dune: The Sisterhood.

      Your comment made me chuckle. This sequel looks absolutely nothing like what Jodorowsky had hand-drawn and talked about, described, who would be cast in it, the film's score, etc. Jodorowsky's Dune would have been the worst film ever made in history. Heaven's Gate or Hudson Hawk or Reds or Showgirls or Howard the Duck would have been nominated for Oscars if it was a showdown between their films and a completed as-described movie ofJodorowsky's Dune. Denis isn't an auteur, He's a Canadian wannabe RIdley Scott understudy.

      @@bijoucassell4587 It's obvious that Jodorowsky's version wouldn't have been what Dune is today due to technological advancements in the theatrical space.
      The reason I referred to Jodorowsky's vision is purely based on the documentary and the ideas as from Jodorowsky himself.
      I agree, some of the things Jodorowsky envisioned was a bit far fetched but a lot of things he mentioned I could clearly see in Villeneuve's Dune in my opinion.

I was listening to the books on repeat for months before it came out. I had made it into a special event to go see it in IMAX. I almost walked out for the first time in my life, but I couldn't walk out of Suckerpunch because the mall was closed and I would have had to wait for my friends to finish it. A lot of people poo-pooed on the prequels but these are accepted as canon and I think they're absolutely fantastic and actually do add to the series and the mythos. I have everything that was available on audible...which I believe is everything including the compendiums of short stories. They're worth a listen if you have nothing else going on.

    • @thomasfevre9515
      @thomasfevre9515 5 месяцев назад +6

      The sound gun is a departure from the books. They fight with knives both for practical (passing the shields) and traditional reasons (the kriss blade is made from à worms tooth and sacred to the fremen). They are also trained by Jessica in the weirding way, the secret martial art of the bene gesserit unlocked by gaining complete cobtrol of one's own body. Thexfremen are predisposed to learn it due to their incredible sense of discipline fostered by the deadly conditions of life on dune.
      On the other hand, sardaukars and harkonen soldiers use to blades. A fast one to gain thexupper hand in combat and a slow (sometimes poisonned) obe that can pass through the shield.

    • @briarrose7016
      @briarrose7016 5 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah that's because the original movie didn't bother to even come close to the book. The characters weren't the right age or appearance and pretty much most of the weapons and relationships in it are bullsh*t.

    • @rcb3921
      @rcb3921 5 месяцев назад +1

      Best to refer to it as the "David Lynch" Dune -- it doesn't deserve to be called the 'original movie' because following takes on DUNE didn't reference it as source material, they all reference the books.
      By way of brief apology for the 1984 picture, keep in mind that it was made in a time when a "faithful retelling" was not an objective of movies based on books. Also, it was hot on the heels of an era when science fiction meant ray-guns. Dune was going to have to have some kind of blasters, and it was going have things that looked like advanced tech --- all of which was a real problem because both of those are deliberately avoided in the books.

      I always thought they were crazy to delay the release…
      Because the actors weren’t available to promote the film?
      As if those of us needed that…
      Besides how much money was lost on the interest accruing on the money invested in the film….
      I will say this though, as part of their fees for doing movies, some actors are required to do a certain amount of contractural promotional work and I guess the studio wanted their pound of flesh…lol
