The Darkness is a first-person shooter video game developed by Starbreeze Studios and published by 2K Games for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game was released in 2007 in North America and Europe and it is based on The Darkness comic book series published by Top Cow Productions. A sequel titled The Darkness II was released in 2012.[1]
The game includes a range of modern-day weapons as well as the powers of the Darkness, which include summoning four imp-like creatures called "Darklings" that can attack foes, using "Dark" tentacles to impale foes or break down walls, using "Creeping Dark" tendrils that sneak along floors, walls and ceilings to take out foes from a distance, and creating a black hole that sucks anything nearby into it. The Darkness powers cannot be used in a well-lit area but can be used in darker areas and under total darkness; the player is able to shoot out lights to help increase the amount of dark energy available. Additionally, by letting the Darkness consume the hearts of its victims, the player can further increase the effects of the Darkness powers.
Over the course of the game, Jackie comes into possession of Darkness guns that are more powerful than conventional weapons but consume Darkness energy in order to fire. The Darkness guns are dual wielded.
The game has several levels based on New York City locales that players visit multiple times. A subway system allows the player to move between areas. While the main plot is primarily linear, requiring the player to visit each area in a certain order, the player can undertake side missions by speaking with non-player characters that wander the subway stations. Completing sub-missions earns the player a "collectible" phone number which can then be used at any phone to unlock additional game media; collectibles can also be found scattered throughout the level. The Otherworld levels feature collectibles in the form of unposted postal mail that the player can deliver when back in New York City in order to unlock the content. Игры
Have you ever played The Darkness? 🎮
Beutiful game, i had such a great feeling while playing and after i finished it. Definitely one of a kind.
pink frame is horrible though)
The pink frame is all we've got. The pink frame is life!!
But yeah the game is amazing 😂
I think I recalled Yahtzee Croshaw from zero punctuation saying this was trash, and how it kickstarted his career.
I was a kid and played the demo over and over and over, I never ended up being able to buy the full game. I've completed the Darkness 2 now, but something about the first game just hits different. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I really wish I could have played it in its entirety.
Played this as a kid with my dad, found it last year bought both of them and beat them I really wish there’s was a third game or a remaster do this game cause it would be completely insane with todays capability compared to 2007
Who's heart does my devil arm need to devour to get a proper PC remaster or GOG port of this masterpiece?
PREACH

Wow thank you so much! Tell your friends!
The graphics look amazing for a 2007 console game

I think I recalled Yahtzee Croshaw from zero punctuation saying this was trash, and how it kickstarted his career.
I humbly disagree, this game rules! Have you played it?
@@UDSGaming I played Darkness 2 on pc. The first was not on pc as I recall.
@@mechgouki7999 Whatcha think of number 2?
@@UDSGaming Best I can say is it was decent. I didn't like the nuthouse events, but I can see what they were aiming for.
Gameplay wise, is a bit fresh, as you have to use standard guns plus tentacle attacks. I don't like that he is almost useless in lighted areas.
It's just not bad.
Fair enough! Are there any hidden gem games you recommend we check out next?
Underrated game
Massively underrated! One of my faves!
I loved this game. I'm sad that I'll never be able to play it again.
Why can't you play it again?
@UDSGaming I don't have an Xbox 360 or the game and it's not on PC
It's downloadable on current Xbox store if you have access!
@UDSGaming I do not but I will keep it in mind if I ever do! Thanks! :)
Brilliant channel 👍
Thank you so much!!!!
I've just bought this game can't wait for it to arrive. Keep up the good work
@@joeharvatt1315 Thank you, we have a movie channel too. Check out UDS Films :)
Great game. A story like no other. Too bad the sequel was so short and had such a cliffhanger ending.
I hear a remaster of at least the first one is in the works.
Oh dang if they do a remaster I’m gonna dye my hair black like Jackie
