I agreed with a lot of what you said but Chris brown being on hero’s and villains is way to fucking hard I wish metro would have extended Chris brown part at the end of the song
I saw Metro live at Coachella and blown away how many hits and guest he had. I didn’t even know he produced so much of my favorite songs from my college years. I never knew who the producer was but I always heard the Metro calling. The new Spiderman track also fire 🔥
If I was Metro watching this, I would feel so genuinely proud of myself. It’s beautiful how your talk about his music. You really have listened to him for years and have a genuine appreciation for his craft. Thank you for sharing ❤
Metro was the reason why i started making beats when i was 14. im from Germany and even people who dont know anything about music production, know metro boomin or have heard this name before. no wonder, every successful song in 2016,17,18 had the metro producer tag, you couldn't overlook it.
I don’t usually analyze music but after listening to metro, ive been noticing the production quality of every single song i listened and appreciate them. Mans set a standard
I actually love Metro's selection of artists on Heroes and Villains. He chose the best of the 2010s artists. I think that's an album I'll be trapping to for years...
Perfect timing is the kind of the album that makes you wanna search up the producer and find more stuff of his cause the work they both put in is genuinely good and doesn’t take away credit from the producer.
He was a grade below me in high school and I had no idea until recently. I was told by friends he left school to go do music in other cities in high school. So it started very young.
The high school was parkway north hs if you care. Class of 2012. His mom was shot and killed here last year. She lived in a bad part of the town but our high school was in a good area.
No the parkway north part is absolutely true. Went there and graduated recently and it's crazy older teachers have stories of not believing he was actually skipping class to go produce in Atlanta, then finding out not that much later that this kid actually was that successful.
Amazing work man!! Only one thing, I didn't notice you mentioning What a Time to Be Alive, which had such a great impact on both genre and Metro's success. Thanks for your videos!
37:22 lmao travis dropped utopia, 21 is dropping american dream, rocky is dropping dont be dumb and gunna made a resurgence with a gift and a curse. so much changed in a short time
Your videos are unbelievably well done. I know I’m entertained because I’m jumping off your video to hear more of the song you’re talking about, and then coming back to finish your video… and that happens over and over in that same video.
That point about Heroes & Villains being a time capsule is so on point. Those might be some of the last great performances for some of the people on there
dude you saved me, todays my birthday and it was only 2 days ago when i found this one app and now im making beats for the past 4-5 months and i want to be a producer and this video just came around the right time, thanks man !!! and the thing is i look up to metro and the weeknd so this really helped thank you

the early years with Metro, Southside, Tm88, Sonny Digital, Wondagurl & so many others gave such a staple for that darker sound. They really don't get the credit they deserve like the artists do, but i'm glad producers are becoming more personalities and bigger names dropping albums. Not to compare the 2 because they were both different times & being locked in together for a significant amount of time is different but it's cool to see producers still follow in the footsteps of the Chronic of having recurring characters like Offset, 21, Travis & others throughout Metro's albums. Keeping that tight team but still being able to experiment and expand with new talent too is only gonna make him get better nd better. Heroes & Villians I thought was really great. Not All Heroes too but I can't wait to see more.
Let's not forget that Metro Boomin executive produced What A Time To Be Alive, the collaborative mixtape project by Drake & Future. It debuted on Billboard 200 at #1. I don't think it was mentioned here at all, this is why i felt like i have to remind everyone. At this point, my man can't do nothing wrong. He's the real-life King Midas - everthing he touches somehow turn into gold 😂
Most producers always shit on metro boomin because his beats are simple which they are, but he’s always working with artists and having a simple beat where the artist can easily fit their voice into is important for the song’s success
Stop the cap, Perfect timing was a piece of art & you can clearly hear Nav inspired + changed Metro's melody and drums. You might not like Nav but his production is undeniable.
yeah some of his takes were complete garbage negl. i like the documentary aspect of the video but he’s gotta keep his opinions out they muddy the video and make you swing one way or the other, especially with opinions that strong lmao
While definitely not as mainstream as Metro, but you should do a video on Alchemist. That dude has been killing it with his production for years but recently has been putting collab projects out with his name all over them very similar to Metro but more consistent in quality.
38:15 " Heroes and Villains might be Metro's last great trap albums" said right before Metro puts out We Dont Trust You with Future goes #1 All April 2024. 😅 I hope for more music from Metro, bc I was so impressed by his lead and versatillity on the 2nd Spiderman:Into the Spiderverse soundtrack. A soundtrack made family friendly but still delivered very interesting art. 👌
Metro Boomin is the only reason I enjoy trap music. Lyrically I think the writing can be lazy at times, but laid over the right beat, you can rap about anything and make it sound good. The true art of modern trap music is in the beat, not the flow or lyrics. IMO
This comment reminds me how Bo Burnham called it "beat fetishism" and showed lyrics don't matter by doing "I'm a little teapot" with some sick ass drops 😎
I agree with a lot of his opinions but honestly I think love sick is a great album by Don Toliver, there is a couple tracks that I don’t like, but most of them including the ones from love sick deluxe fit the vibe I wanted perfectly

its crazy that you made this without speaking on karate chop which pretty much solidified Metro in the industry to everybody and not in the mixtape game it was even Future's single for his second album. That was the first HUGE Metro radio song I can remember. Also pretty crazy to not mention Tuesday by Makonnen and Drake or even Jumpman
