The lead pilot was sat, ready to go, and opened up exactly five seconds after his wingman came to a halt. Then the wingman gave him exactly ten seconds before opening up. All things being equal, they will have that ten second separation all the way to their target. That spatial awareness could be crucial when they get there, and we see it first established here on the runway.
The 10 seconds delay has got to do with the fact they are flying with live ordanance. It is a safety measure. Once they are airborne they will merge in a formation and head for their target. There they will decide how to approach the target, depending on the plane or planes. Usually one plane flies behind the intercepted plane and the other one will fly along side and make contact with hand gestures or small movements with the wings. If all things go south one plane will be the shooter, the other one is the back up. Most intercepts are caused by a lack of radio communication from the target plane or a wrong transponder code.
@@Straubinger21Regulärer Nachbrenner Start eben. Sind eben die Leute die bei uns außerhalb des Zaunes am TaktLwg74 stehen & meistens keine Ahnung haben :) Trotzdem mit der Kamera gut getroffen.

@poiujnbvcxdswq It is an exercise, they pretend to start with live ammo, hence the 10 seconds.
Wundervoll, wunderbar.

Correct. The fist one is an older Leoprard 2 A5. It still has the shorter barrel.
