Hi Amy. Former Florida resident here. All glass can break from pressure or flying debris. They make pull down hurricane covers for doors/patio doors, and there are sliding side to side hurricane shutters for doors/patio doors also. Or just plain plywood (cheaper). You cut out the area for your door handles and attach the plywood. But get it now. When the warnings start it will be a madhouse and there won't be anything to buy for protection. It's an expense to do this, but when the storm is over you have your protection to store for another time. It would be awfully expensive to replace a bunch of glass. Not to mention the harm glass could cause if it busted and was flying through your home. I know you're a believer and trust in God, I do too, but unfortunate things do happen. My preachers home literally burned to the ground a few months back. All that was left was the tin roof. The family are all okay, but they are now having to build a whole new house. And be sure you have a box of "pp" pads for little Maxine because she won't be able to go out in a storm. Place water in your bathtubs in case of water disruption. Then you can use any kind of bucket or pitcher and will be able to flush your toilets. Water goes fast when it's not available, and you have a lot of people in your home. I say all of this from my heart. I think you are an awesome family and just want to see you protected. I've truly missed the Bible studies the past couple of weeks! Love and prayers from Karen in Iowa.
Hey Amy! Funny story. We went to Savannah for a doctors appointment this week and I looked up that there was a Culver’s there so we had lunch…..delicious!!! My husband asked me how I heard about Culver’s?? I said Amy and Greg have been enjoying one in their new town…..he says “who is Amy and Greg??” I told him my RUclips friends!! Lol. Y’all really do feel like friends!! By the way….bagels are in the dairy section near the butter, cream cheese etc.
Former Floridian (now a North Carolinian) that has lived through many Fl hurricanes. I would suggest doing a "trial run" with putting up your hurricane shutters/protection. It's always takes longer than you expect. You can also check and make sure that you have all the parts needed and that everything is in working order. You can also see if there is anywhere that you may need more protection than you already have. You want to avoid Lowe's/Home Depot when a storm is approaching. I used to do it at the beginning of every hurricane season.
Wow!! Girl, I will never again complain about putting away MY groceries, I was exhausted just watching you describe everything ! And lol about the freezer! Have a great weekend!!
Just an aside, Hurricanes 🌀 can create tornadoes and the winds come from all directions. 😊 Love your new home and all that you are discovering! Keep the Faith. Always, Hope🙏🌞💗🥀🌻
Amen to taking a break from filming. Don’t know how you’ve done it, sharing this tremendous move ! I’ve loved watching it but man have you earned any rest you can get! ❤
I stock water in the spring and save it for hurricane supply through October, then I use it up though the winter and restock in the spring. You will need a gallon per person per day for a minimum of 3 days. I stock enough for a week but we don’t have that many people. I also stock food that doesn’t need to be cooked, like peanut butter, crackers, tuna, etc. Also, identify a small interior room or closet as your safe room for when winds or tornadoes kick up. Your grocery haul made my heart happy. Enjoy your weekend!
Amy, keep in mind that food like cereal and crackers gets soggy stale faster in Florida due to humidity. I remember having to put cereal on a sheet pan in the oven for a little while to crisp it back up.
Haha. That's true. I would say it becomes stale quicker and have experienced slight dampness on cereals/crackers. I lived in FL 2.5 decades, most of the time with no AC. They were never soggy and I never had to crisp them in the oven. Theirs will be fine. LOL.
Awe ❤ cute kitten that is a Japanese Bobtail. I've only ever heard Maxine bark a handful of times on your videos. She was definitely guarding her home.
Good evening Amy! Wow, that's a lot but it's your first grocery haul. Can't wait for next week. My grandkids love your monster cookies. I sent the recipe to my granddaughter in Florida too for my great grandkids to try. Thanks for sharing. Hafa adai and love from the island of Guam 🌴❤🌴
Hello Amy, what a great grocery haul and something for everyone especially Jensen. Then comes the task of finding homes for all we bought of course thinking we have plenty of room cupboard, fridge and freezer room until it comes to putting it away but then its always a tight squeeze lol! So pleased you stocked up on water too you just never know when its going to be needed but in Florida you will need it at some point. I would stock up on some shelve staple groceries too. We don’t get Cyclones etc but do get very serious flooding and getting shopping,or getting it delivered, is a hassle for long periods of time when goods are transported from other States but when we are total cut off I’m grateful for my shelve staples. You don’t need to worry about how often you post your videos I’m sure your other Subscribers like myself will still be here. You have a wonderful weekend with your family❤️
Also make sure you have a generator and plenty of gas after last year's hurricane my dad was without power for 11 days.. and he was one of the lucky ones!😊
Great Gocery hauls! I never complained about the freezer, but now the kitchen looks bigger, I can't wait to see your next video, take care and relax, God bless 😊
Hi Amy, That was an awesome haul altogether. Lol! Your freezer is missing ……. You can always use the water so it’s good you have a small stockpile. Maxine is in protective mode. I thought it was a delivery but there’s a cat. It looked like the cat wanted to make friends w Maxie. 😊😊 Omg, by the time you get the groceries put away, you’ll definitely want to sit and relax by the pool. Thanks for sharing. Oh btw, great items for Jentzen… Have a beautiful and blessed day with the family. 🙏☀️💕
Awesome stock up haul! I'm glad you are taking some time for yourself! We all need grace every once in a while. To the Avocado she goes! Lol 🥑🥑🥑 Have a great weekend Maryons! Many blessings...😊
Hi Amy! Welcome to Florida. 😊. The bagels you bought at Walmart are on the bread aisle. So glad to see how happy you all are living here. Love the haul videos.
We were at church camp all last week, so just now catching up:) So happy to see that your subscribers have gone up!!! Happy for you!!♡ Looks like you're getting settled in :-)
plywood for the back. get it now and have it cut to sz and keep it in ur garage. Also do a trial run it putting at least one storm shutter up so you are not learning when crunch time comes. Welcome to FL! I live in North Florida, by I 75 in a small town called Live Oak.
The best hints I can offer for hurricane preparedness: water, gas in cars, cash, prescriptions, shelf-stable food, important papers, proof of pet vaccines, flashlights or candles and lighters, charged phones, battery radio, bags of ice for freezers to keep everything colder longer, etc. A suggestion I have from personal experience….place water (either bottles or jugs) into plastic tubs for storage. The bottles “can” leak
When we burned my grandmother would spray on vinegar. It took the sting away and didn't have a limit to the "number of applications". When I was on the truck with my husband I put a wash cloth saturated with vinegar on my burns so as not to spray the truck.
The great value bagels are over in the bread section above Thomas’ bagels. Usually Walmart is out of them or they are still in the freezer, NOT stocked one the shelf. Former Walmart employee(online grocery pickup associate)…..lol
Amy i know u think u have enough water but after a hurricane it will go fast. Government web page recommends 1 gallon per person daily for a minimum of two weeks. More is preferred. I enjoy seeing you happy now that your family is all back together. I also enjoy seeing you set up your new home.
Great video! Hubby and I are thinking about becoming snowbirds. MI winters aren't our cup of tea anymore. Looks like my Tupperware and Lock n Lock containers will come in handy. Make it a great wknd! Blessings.
Good morning. Stocking up for hurricanes is just like a stock up for winter in the north. I find I just keep an emergency stockup in case of power outage for all seasons. These days, I usually have delivery I have been without a car for an entire year. It is not the same as choosing your own items. I hope you have a fantastic friday blessed weekend. I will see ya monday
When you live in hurricane territory there is never such a thing as too much water. When Ike hit Texas we were out of electricity for two weeks, fortunately our neighborhood had the water supply on generators so we had water. We couldn't get gas or food hardly though, so always keep your tanks and fridges full during the hurricane season.
Oh my gosh! One more idea…I was fine w fridge in kitchen but now that it’s out you could buy unfinished WALL cabinets from Home Depot or Lowe’s and stack them to make a tall pantry wall. Paint to match current cabinets. Cheap and it’s only 12” deep so may not block window at all! Just an idea. I made a buffet by raising the wall cabinets off floor (toe kick height) and put a counter on top in my dining room and also around my fireplace. Did the same for my daughter and they look like expensive built-ins.
😀 , the freezer has moved, lol. Hope u can get use to it. I'm enjoying the daily adventures. I watch u daily at work on my lunch break. It keeps me out of company gossip.
A lot of fun in the sun summer goodies! You will totally eat different in the summer. I’m in Texas and your taste totally changes. You’ll want that outdoor kitchen fast.
I live here in Florida make sure you have back up chargers for your phones as well and invest in some battery powered fans because when the power goes out it is twice as hot in the house and take all your patio furniture inside as well as any pool stuff also and if they have sandbags get some we use those after the hurricane to replace dirt that washed away its free hey why not lol
Hi Amy, I love your videos and loving the new kitchen 😍. As a born and raised Floridan, we have never covered sliding glass doors. But I feel you should do what makes you feel comfortable. Thanks for sharing ❤
Hi Amy, I’ve been watching your channel for about 4 years now. I enjoy watching you and your family just getting on with life. I think your youngest child was around 4/5 Steven, then. When you were up in the mountain house. I’ve just subscribed to your channel, don’t know why I never thought about it before now 😂 but, I have now. Enjoy your new home! I’ll enjoy watching your new adventures in Florida 😊😊
I love "shopping" but the organzing afterwards can be stressful for me; I'm glad you can tackle that much food at once ("one bite at a time", right?) I cannot even imagine life in a hurricane zone ... give me earthquakes any day! 😂 Thankfully, I've never experienced a real disaster. Thank you, Lord! But I know He provides and I would be in His hands. Thanks for sharing and blessings! Have a wonderful weekend ... (I know you will! ❤)
Re: Hurricane panels: You may have a rail, top and bottom, for the patio doors, or “buttons” (screws) that are drilled into your house siding. If you have the “buttons” you back them out and use the screws the previous homeowner sent you to secure the panels. I’m assuming you have galvanized metal panels. We labeled our panels with permanent marker so we knew where they went. We have since gotten pull down shutters to make the process easier on us as we age!💪🏼 Keep your cars gassed up and consider getting a generator. An aside: keep your pup 🐶 away from frogs. There is a frog call “bufo” that secretes a poison that can get your 🐶 very ill. So, go outside with him/her when going outside to do his business, especially at night when they seem to come out. During the day they are under ground. Ugh! Wishing you happiness in your new home. 🏠
I love your earrings.❤❤❤ . Thank you for showing the dairy free and lactose free. It will help me out a lot. Now I will look at the Walmart that I work at.
Welcome to Fl, save yourself money and storage space and skip buying water. When a storm is expected just fill coolers, large containers and bathtubs with water.
Hi Amy, I'm also a Naples resident and work in the health field. The best thing to help with the sunburn is plain saline solution. Put it on in the shower right before you're getting out and don't rinse it off. You can also soak gauze in it and lay them on a burn for 20 minutes to help with the sting.
I tried the Blueberry Creamer & oh my goodness it is delicious! I got 2 of them..but they had alot. They have Peppermint Creamer out now lol. My fav pumpkin everything will be soon! Great haul! I love how much month you save! ❤
If your water is filtered from fridge just fill empty gal.jugs before storms, collect rain water for flushing, buddy flush toilets, last resort use swimming pool water to flush. Also have emergency suitcase packed, and must have paperwork, cash.
I'm not sure about your Sam's Club but all three in my city are notorious for not listing random items as in stock on the app when, in reality, there is plenty in the club. I'm excited for you to shop at Publix. They seem to have good coupon deals! I am contemplating making your garbage bag snack mix this weekend. I know my kids will love it and who are we kidding...my husband and I will too! 😂 Have a terrific weekend Maryon family!!!
Hey Amy, I have a suggestion for the area in your kitchen that you removed the freezer from. I know that everyone has their own opinions, so take my suggestions as a grain of salt. 😂 maybe you can set a small breakfast table and have 😮 a coffee bar set up in the corner..That way you and Greg can sit and have coffee on the mornings and you can look out at the back yard?
You might shut off electric and water for a day and then you will know exactly what your missing and how it will all work for hurricane season. Practice putting up shutters so you know you have what you need and it's all in one place and labeled really well.
You moved the extra fridge from the kitchen lol Great shop Amy :) just so you know my daughters name is Amy as well and she shops like you hehe. enjoy your few days off cant wait til you come back. Love your family love your videos Love from Canada
Could you maybe do a video of your hurricane kit? I plan on moving there in a few years….and I’m a planner so I’m trying to make a master plan before I get down there. Ty! Love your channel!

And there are special hurricane clips that will hold the plywood in without ruining your window sills.
Great haul I just love grocery hauls. I just actually postedmy Walmart weekly grocery haul a couple days ago LOL have a great day.
May God protect you and your family from hurricanes❤
Kitchen looks great without the freezer!!! 🤩You'll have to show us its new home in the garage.

I wasn't one that was telling you to move the fridge but i must say that the room looks so much brighter now😊
It sure does
Amy, I’m happy to see you getting a rest. It’s been a busy few months with the move. Enjoy your beautiful pool and beloved avocado. 🤣
Amen to taking a break from filming. Don’t know how you’ve done it, sharing this tremendous move ! I’ve loved watching it but man have you earned any rest you can get! ❤
Greg, you are correct, hurricane winds can and do come from every direction. It depends on how a hurricane hits.
Kitchen looks good . A small round table with 2 chairs would look really nice where freezer was ❤Thank God for groceries
Yes you do have to worry about the doors. You will also may need a camp stove for hurricane needs.

Find a bread outlet and get a bunch and freeze them
Hope you're having a fantastic week. Well, sorry you are hurting. Be careful.
Thank you! You too!
Love that you are living in my state now 😉
This was a great grocery haul my Friend! 👍🏻
Have a wonderful day
When we burned my grandmother would spray on vinegar. It took the sting away and didn't have a limit to the "number of applications". When I was on the truck with my husband I put a wash cloth saturated with vinegar on my burns so as not to spray the truck.
That was an AWESOME grocery haul!! Have a relaxing weekend!
Enjoy your day ❤️
😄😁😁Freezer has gone yay! I think your kitchen looks much bigger looks great!❤️ have a good weekend xxx
The great value bagels are over in the bread section above Thomas’ bagels. Usually Walmart is out
of them or they are still in the freezer, NOT stocked one the shelf. Former Walmart employee(online grocery pickup associate)…..lol
Have a great restful, sunshine weekend!
You as well
Amy i know u think u have enough water but after a hurricane it will go fast.
Blessings.
Have a great day and weekend .God bless you and your family
I had a great day today for my birthday it was so nice out here in New Hampshire
Yes we are thinking that too
😀 , the freezer has moved, lol. Hope u can get use to it. I'm enjoying the daily adventures. I watch u daily at work on my lunch break. It keeps me out of company gossip.
Siamese is a Manx. Cutie. A girl? Or small because it is little. Have a great time Amy, Greg and family. Love from Tejas, lol , Texas 🇨🇱💕

WOW!! Your grocery haul wore me out!!😂😂 Great to see you back in your groove!! Have a awesome weekend! Thanks for sharing!
A lot of fun in the sun summer goodies! You will totally eat different in the summer. I’m in Texas and your taste totally changes. You’ll want that outdoor kitchen fast.
Have a great weekend

Jensen scored big which is great. Lactaid products are so helpful. Thank goodness Maxine can protect the house from the Big Bad Kitty. ❤❤
Great Value bagels are usually on the bread isle at walmart, at least in our store.
Good to know!
Hi Amy, I love your videos and loving the new kitchen 😍. As a born and raised Floridan, we have never covered sliding glass doors. But I feel you should do what makes you feel comfortable. Thanks for sharing ❤
At my store, bagels are in the Dairy department as well as the bread aisle.

Enjoyed this video
Oooh...the freezer moved! Maybe look for a tall wide pantry cabinet to help get more food closer?
great video Amy, I feel for Greg, we went to Niagara yesterday and my face is burnt and my chest, aloe vera gel is good for sunburns.
Have a good weekend ❤❤
Amy that was a awesome haul love it enjoy and get some rest Amy love your 👍👋♥️💕💯
You might shut off electric and water for a day and then you will know exactly what your missing and how it will all work for hurricane season. Practice putting up shutters so you know you have what you need and it's all in one place and labeled really well.
Kitchen looks great 😂. Hope you get plenty of rest this weekend.
Amy, I suggest you use care with the bananas here in Florida. Because it is so hot down here, the bananas turn brown a whole lot faster here.
Those pickles are the best by far!! Love them. I will have to try the nondairy cheese for my daughter.
