** Please support animals by opposing their killing/hunting just for taste & fun. Whales are meant to be free in gigantic ocean. Who are we (human) to cage them in small aquariums?!! Then we hit back & complain that whales attacked man...but this is a wild & free animal.. if we force her to perform thrice a day, just to entertain some fat rich people.....then any such thing can happen !
If we America believe in free speech, free expressions...then why not whales?!

Makes me sad. I love that people can coexist and work with animals so closely, but some animals aren't meant to be kept in confined quarters, and are meant for the wild. I think an animal this big shouldn't have to live in such a small little tub
ya, u r rite. Whale (orca) wants to have fun.
But hey, wait. They are wild animal. You shouldn't pet Lion. Even though it's friendly. They are meant to be set free in infinite wide ocean. Not in tiny swimming pool. And still, if we be cruel and cage a whale in a bath tub, atleast we shouldn't blame those poor wild animals, for not behaving like human. (caz they are not human. They are not that smart and careful)
Kalina was born at seaworld, this is her home. She don't know nothing about free. She is the original 'baby shamu'.
Thats got to be the scariest thing to jump in the tank with a killer whale.. Used to think it was amazing how these animals can be trained to do amazing stunts with humans. But after watching blackfish my mind has changed drastically feel sorry for the whales stuck prisoners in their bathtub
It's horrible how those majestic, emotional, intelligent creatures are kept in cement tanks. Heartbreaking.
Kalina was born at Sea World she was never captured. Most of their whales have been born at the Sea World park you cant just let them go in the ocean when most of them were born in Sea World
As much as it suck for these majestic manuals! It is still beautiful how they can transform into on another! These trainers have a bond!!❤️

Then in San Diego he did the same thing except the trainer was going for a toy. In Orlando when he killed they said" no one go's in the water with him" Kalina on the other hand has supposedly killed once. Well, look again. Dawn is riding her nose right? Well what's that 16-20 ft shadow 2 meters in front of her? That would be Shamu . Sadly, for Shamu's fifth accidental kill Kalina was blamed and punished. Yet technically Dawn shouldn't of been in the water. Trainers are given rules.
Actually, ....we've already seen Free Willy (Keiko) freed.
It didn't go as you animal liberation freakies wanted.
Sure, he swam off into the sunset in the summer of 2002 (but, only after his handlers adopted an extreme estrangement policy towards him -- even refusing to look at him or speak to him).
....And then he came back to humanity -- into a Norwegian fjiord fishing village, to get friendly attention from humans (like he did in captivity, in the even much smaller tank at Reina Aventura, Mexico City -- THAT was his basic experience with humans; apparently not a very negative experience for him, on the whole) ...and he gave rides to kids on his back!
I'm surprised that you even invoked his movie name! A real orca who gave us a real example of an orca's attitudes towards humanity. (Very much like a wolf or any wild canine that had been captured and socialized to humans.)

If we Americans keep maintaining a state-subsidized dis-education system which causes a grown man to declare such nonsense (revealing a lack of understanding of the fundamental difference between creatures of a conceptual-level cognition from creatures of a perceptual-level only cognition), and we allow them to vote (Mr. Kedarnevergone doesn't even understand WHY humans possess or need to possess "rights" -- and that the concept of "rights" ONLY applies to human-to-human relations, not human-to-animal or animal-to-animal, for that matter), ...then, of course, we can expect the evisceration of our own rights.
To deny to humans the right to exploit nature (and other living species in it) for "taste and fun" (yes, to nourish your child!!! or to kill something preying your child, no doubt! ...and "fun" -- to give your kid a pet or be able to take him to a zoo!!) ....is to deny humans' rights to take the actions they need to LIVE.
People such as Mr. Kedarnevergone will NEVER complain of wild orcas or any other predators in the wild "playing" -- having "fun" -- with their prey (such as terrorizing sea lions by throwing them about, before eventually devouring them). They'll say, "That's just nature! Nature can be cruel!"
But, they draw a red circle around humans -- and, particularly humans who have built cities and passed through an industrial revolution -- and declare that they are the ONE species who cannot (morally) exercise a power that EVERY OTHER species of living thing MUST DO in order to survive and thrive: which is to KILL and exploit OTHER SPECIES (for nourishment, for defense against predation and disease, for competition for a common food source, ...for enjoyment or "fun" as the orcas themselves demonstrate in the wild)!
And, THAT is the key to understanding "environmentalism" and "animal liberation". ...It has NOTHING to do with animal liberation or animal welfare, it is based on a strange hostility and resentment towards their fellow man; a profound misanthropy.
@Christyb18 what they actually do is alternate the whales so they don't get bored. there are, I believe, 6 of them, including tilikum, the whale that killed the trainer. if the animal is able to be released into the wild they do. the ones used in the shows are not! most of these whales were born in captivity. they would not be able to defend themselves. and if you really want to get technical, why do we own dogs and cat's? they were once wild animals too.
Because dogs and cats fit in our houses.

These are trained animals. I don't think domesticated whales will be happy in the wild; they are no longer used to this wildlife. If they can learn, then they can adapt to the new environment. Everyone will get older and weaker but it's natural. No life lives in this world forever! Let's live and enjoy every moment of the gift of life on earth. Life is Eternal with God, and this will be yours too if you BELIEVE.
Its sad...but im really conflicted because the whale obviously loves the trainer, is being looked after and looks like hes having fun...but then again its wrong that hes there in the first place....Opinions please?x
The whales aren't having fun.They have no choice.They are caged.If the whales acts up,those trainers get what they get.It's a fact.They have stolen those whales and dolphins from the ocean and destroyed what they were.

Well, my family goes to seaworld a lot. They've brought back pictures with her and the whales and I've seen her personally once at a show.

Dont misunderstand. I agree completely, but Sea World has been breeding their orcas for a long while. Many haven't seen the sea. I am not a marine biologist. What would happen if they were freed? I want these amazing mammals to have a good life, but I want more info about how that will happen.
they are breeding the orcas with Tilikum a male with aggression as he was taken away VIOLENTLY from his mother at the age of 2 and abused by 2 females and the trainers at another show before see world got him (he had also killed someone before going to sea world), he also has mental problems due to this since joining sea world i think he has been involved in 3 or 4 attacks. (not sure) but the main one being Dawn Brancheau
so even tho a lot of the orcas havent been in the sea they come from him and therefore his anger lingers in his geans.

Have you seen lolita in her little tank and now compare it with this. Humans care for whales since not even 70 years so i think we should give them a chance to do the best for their animals if you compare what the whales had a pool in 1978 with now its amazing how modern it has become and how much money the spent for those animals
Lolita is still stuck in that Same pool!!! Hopefully to be released to a sea sanctuary in the near future. Just because seaworld have bigger pools does not mean they are large enough for the orcas !!!!
I love Orcas. Ok for one.. Keiko died as a transient four years ago in Iceland. They suspect it was the sudden shock of freedom to his system combined with pneumonia, after being a captive whale since 2 years of age. Another thing, Shamu; or the Kraken as they call him, used to live in Victoria BC and this is where the controversy starts. At 3 years of age, he dragged a trainer( Canadian aquariums don't allow trainers in the water) into the water by her ponytail and pushed her to the bottom ;
Yeah, that's so co-incidence ..but never mind.. this is what I learnt. Whales at Seaworld are not in that bad condition or risk as whales in ocean are..
Here they are atleast guaranteed that no human can kill them.... :)
lol,No I'm not a trainer(too young) ;) It just takes a lot of practice and knowledge about the orcas. I go there a lot and love the orcas so that's how I know.

Orcas at SeaWorld receive the best zoological care and needs. SeaWorld's orcas perform in shows as a part of their exercise and mental simulation. Before or after shows or interactions with the trainers, SeaWorld's orcas are playing with enrichment toys or doing training sessions to also simulate them physically and mentally. The trainers LOVE these animals. They share a unique relationship with the whales. They are not "forced" to do tricks! How are you going to force such a huge, highly intellgent animal to do any behavior? With mutual trust, respect and love - as well as positive reinforcement (Rewarding) as you do with dogs or horses. Bonding with any animal takes time. Also, Their "tricks" are Natural behaviors you'll see in wild orcas. Shows are far different than how it was in the 70s or even the 90s. The shows are themed more naturally and are purposely to educate you. If the animals did not want to perform in shows they would easily not do it. When you give killer whales plenty of fish and they have had their fill for the day, what else are you going to give them? More fish? These animals are actually lucky that they are PROTECTED from more SERIOUS threats in the Wild - Pollution, Oil spills, Disease introduced by humans or harmful pathogens, Starvation and being injured by Boats...
They receive the highest vet care in the nation. They are Loved by everyone - from the trainers or the vets who work with them each day #seaworldcares

--2 -- You know, i was there on Christmas...n those whales were forced to perform 5 times in a day.. Once they stopped dancing n show was intereptted. PPl were getting annoyed on Orcas, caz they were not dancing - after they paid lots of money !

therefore its not "free willly" its the girl that they have, still very wrong to cage them in a fuckin fish tank, but keiko (willy) died years ago and tilikum (shamu) is bigger and has a fin that is completely bent over.

Orcas, dolphins and so on, belong in the sea. Visitors to these shows let them live on and the poor creatures continue to work as slaves. The trainers are not animal lovers, because the system is only out for profit. If the welfare of the animals is important to you, you work differently for these animals. One can only appeal to each individual not to attend these shows. Seaworld has no heart for animals, Seaworld only has a heart for money.Not only complaining about injustice, but standing up for the law. People who think these shows are fun for humans and animals have no sense of reality. People who think it takes away the freedom to buy food because that few euros have become more expensive. People who quickly feel deprived of their freedom do not know what the word freedom means.

Cont: That and the 6 that were originally wild born have all been in captivity for over 30 years, two even over 40 years, they've become so acclimated to captive life and a reliance on humans for their every day needs that they would most likely die too. Just because their in tanks doesnt mean they hate their lives and all want to be free, most know nothing of the "wild" :D
