Fortunately Gary Tyler was finally freed 33 years after this song was recorded. But he spent 41 years for a crime he did not commit. There are thousands of stories like his in the US. Everyone needs to fight this. Prosecutors, cops and judges need to be held criminally accountable when they allow innocent people to be incarcerated like this. Some have even been executed and the legal system knew they were innocent!
Thanks for that bro very interesting i allways wonder about him. UB40 are the greatest i miss that time. I met them all. Brian robs al astro james earl normaz From Edinburgh Scotland. Rip guys xxxx
Completely agree but I'd add their second album to that too. "Signing off" and "Present arms" were their best albums. Although Ali Campbell doesn't agree, he says he's ashamed of them because of those albums showing what complete novices the band were at the time: Brian bought a saxophone in the wrong key and Ali himself tuned his guitar in an open chord since he couldn't play yet. I think he's nuts.
I tell my friends out here in the US where I live nowadays that “UB40 were just the most brilliant band, and unless you know exactly what I’m talking about then you can have no realistic expectation of just how brilliant I mean”. Now I can play them this clip and prove the point.
Wish the pair of em would grow up. Astros dead, this is my UB40 just get on with playing this music before its too late. Can't refuse it so give us what we want and mek we gwan.
And fortunately, Gary Tyler finally got out in 2016. But he served 42 years for a crime he did not commit. I was honored to be able to arrange for Gary to meet UB40 for the 1st time this past September after they advocated for him for 42 years!
Ub40 always makes sad songs sound so good they rock✌🏾💖 i love them. I have listen to them my whole life. Growing up listen to there music. My father always played there cassette tape,s and cd,s in the car😁 i am 29 now and I still listen to them.
R.I.P Brain Travers. He was too young to die. He had cancer a horrible disease i wish it too no one. Not even my worst enemies. I,v lost allot of famillie members to cancer i hope they will have a cure for it some day. The band ub40 will always be legend. One of the greatest and best reggae bands of all time. This is best reggae band that ever existed
79 80 I was working at the Ladbroke international Casino B,ham as a apprentice Dealer. Packed suitcase outside the staffroom. "Had enough I'm leaving him, never see him...bloody band" 1980 this was released, and the girl? Sally Campbell, Ali's first wife. In the end she took up with a right loser called Dean, and he didn't last long either. "Regrets, I have a few"...springs to mind.
Now I know where Sublime Slightly Stoopid and the Dirty Heads all got their sound the second wave of ska which became the third wave of ska and the 4th and V Sublime change my life that nirvana thanks for listening
Present Arms. Hands down best album ever. Last concert of theirs SUCKED tho. Shaggy opened for them and sadly blew them out the water. Had they played ANY of TV hero popular songs, we would have loved it. They sang all the b sides of their songs. Not good. Hated it. Love the group. Hope to watch em again and let em redeem themselves

It’s tragic.❤️🏴
I'm glad he got some financial reparation but their debts not paid because they can't afford the cost he paid. Scum.

@@RastaSaiyaman What about Present Arms in Dub? My favourite album
@@clanmac66 Well, as the title already says: it's a dub version of "Present arms"
Those long sax riffs suit the reggae beat so well. Love their early stuff. Superb.
Yeah man no one is better then Brain Travers on the saxophone genius they all were. Rest in peace Brain Travers ✌🏾❤
They opened with this tune in Hammersmith 1981, i was there, best concert I've ever been to

Most don't even know..
Still sounds fantastic in 2022.

Their was a rawness to Signing Off that gave it a real honesty. How they could be embarrassed by that album is beyond me.
One of my favourite debut albums
