Usahay is a Visayan word for "Sometimes." Visayan is one of the many local languages in the Philippines. Born and raised in Cebu City, Philippines, it is actually Morissette's true native dialect (not Tagalog/Filipino). So proud of her singing this timeless, classic, Visayan song.
English translation:
"Usahay nagadamgo ako nga ikaw og ako nagkahigugmaay."
(Sometimes I dream that you & I fell in love (again).)
"Nganong damguhon ko ikaw? Damguhon sa kanunay sa akong kamingaw."
(Why do I keep dreaming about you? Dreaming of you in my loneliness.)
"Usahay magamahay ako nganong nabuhi pa ning kalibutan."
(Sometimes I regret living in this world (now that I no longer have you).)
"Nganong gi-ti-aw-ti-awan ang gugma ko kanimo, kanimo day?"
(Why did you have to play with my feelings for you?)
The most impressive thing about morissette, i think is the insane quality of her tone in every single performance. She draws you in emotionally with her voice. She tells her story very well and it makes it that more powerful. Truly an amazing singer.
I almost cried upon hearing Mori singing in here dialect song Usahay! Good job for her.
Mori took two classic songs and added her special touches and the outcome is amazing. For me it didn’t matter that I don’t speak Filipino what I did understand was the beauty of the music. Bravo Mori👏
Laptop speakers don't do this version justice. It's a whole new level of appreciation when listened to with nice headsets or your amp.
Tyra.... Considering the magnitude of this performance & CERTAINLY the singer involved, this time, I haven’t just “hit” that bell, I’ve brought replacements (for the original bell), smashed 1 between a pair of house bricks, another has been “belted into oblivion” with a hammer & the last has been run & reversed over by a couple of trucks 💥😂😂😂💥. In case you haven’t deciphered what I just wrote... I’M READY FOR MORI TO BE SMOOTH, SOULFUL & OH SO STEADY ♥️🤜💥🔔♥️
Love the Bisaya Song, one of the dialect in the Philippines. Hawd kaayu ka Mori💖❤️
The Bisayan song has a Kundiman vibe. It is a romantic songs coming during the 50s and early 60s.
even sung in bisaya its still moon river
Amazing! Mori and the new Manhattan Transfer 😍🎶💚✔
This gave me not only jazzy and disney vibes, but it felt a bit christmassy at times... It gave me the feels!!! Loving the curls BTW lovely Tyra 😍
Oh yasss!! And I thought I was the only one who detected that Christmas vibe.🙂 For me it kicked in when she raised the key with the word breaker in "You heart breaker" at 5:46. 🙂
that is what i felt... very "christmassy"...
Tyra, I love your slow talking, the attitude in your voice, your pauses and the way you use and talk with your hands. So entertaining! And every word you say has substance to it. Love all your reactions, so refreshingly different to the rest you find on RUclips! Please keep doing your stuff!
Wow!...very beuatiful!...what a nostalgic fragile voice of the Asia's PHOENIX!!...her voice is flexible and versatile!...what else that Morissette can't do or sing diff jenre!!..a real vocal athlete....thankz.. for the reaction... :0)
Shes expanding, she's maturing before our eyes.
Morissette Amon is the Best Singer Today for me👑😍🇵🇭 her vocal ability is so amazing..... very talented she can dance, play guitar and keyboard😍❤️❤️ Hope you can react to her original song DI MAPALIWANAG on Wish Bus, her cover of RUN TO YOU on ASAP 😍❤️ THANKS
Eyy 💞🔥 Mowie☝️🌹 Speaking of Versatility in Genre and in tone 👑
One thing i love about her is that she gives justice to the songs she covers, and she doesnt cover song that is popular around the world just to be recognize ✊
She doesnt go with the flow but instead she sings because she loves it 😍👌
Those who really loves and knows music only are the ones who appreaciate old school songs, in short they dont find this type of song boring.. 🙂
"Usahay" song for Bisaya speaking Person is like the "Besame Mucho" for Mixicans. Bisaya is a Language spoken in Cebu Island. The birth place of Mori.
Morissette is truly an amazing singer 🌹💕
'Usahay' is a Bisaya-dialect song. Thats the dialect largely spoken in Southern Philippines. Its different from the Tagalog dialect of Manila. Morissette is from that part of the Philippines.
you call Bisaya and Tagalog dialects but they are really languages of their own
@@noelgarcia3799"Linguists tend to define a language as the standardized code used in spoken and written form, whereas dialects are spoken vernacular codes without a standardized written system. ... Dialects can be defined as different varieties of the same language that have evolved over time and in different geographical locations"... this is how I interpret it my friend.
@@jethrocrus8078 accurate
@@jethrocrus8078 you're wrong, Visayan is a language not a dialect. please search the RUclips on the difference between language and dialects. there's one in RUclips by the channel LangFocus.
@@espedidosgs you know we can debate endlessly about this lol... but I respect Tyra, so I'll stop. Bye..
Usahay, as sang by Morissette can become internationally famous due to the way she sang it touching the soul.
Tyra -- Thank you so much for your informed analysis. Your reaction is sublime.
You should check out Adonis RUclips channel for breakdown of each decision they made. He also adds details on Morissettes thought process and vision for these projects since she is very hands on. He's all around amazing.
Great video reaction!
Lovely you are both!
Extremely vocals, pure pleasure!
BEAUTIFUL!
I love how calm and sincere tyra is😍 she's so cutee every pauses. You so pretty girl!❤️😍
This particular Visayan language is the Morissette's first language.
Tyra.... I KNOW what this performance did to me so I can’t wait to see what it does to you ♥️😜🤪😍♥️.... DING!!! DING!!! DING!!! Mori’s gonna sing so my bell it’s gonna RING!!! It’s that time again 🤜💥🔔♥️♥️♥️
Beautiful reaction of an intelligent & beautifil girl.
I don’t understand the second part as well because that’s Bisaya which is a Filipino dialect, but it was soooo dreamy 😍 love it! Love it!!! I’m livin for it 💜
You can enable the captions for the English lyrics.
You can turn on the captions 👍
According to Adonis, the backup vocals consisted of 2 layers of Morissette, 2 layers of Dave Lamar, and 2 layers for Adonis
Dave Lamar is Morissete boyfriend the one who Sing with her
@@alnazerjama6195 I know 🤗
I can confirm that it's 6 audio sources, no idea why they think Dave is her bf. I'm here bf.
@@obe22099 Hahaha actually she's my Ex Fiance 😅
HI Tyra thanks for the reaction. Did you notice the riff Mori played on the word "RIVER" at the first ending of the song "Moon River", then shifted the riff to the word "MOON" at the end of the mashup? Oh Mori, whence come such inventiveness and creativity?
Oh my!.. So excited for this 😁. I'll be putting off watching the original video until this comes out. Thanks lovely Tyra!
This song is smooth as silk. Did not understand the dialect but you never lose the interest. Love it. Thanks Tyra
She’s awesome as usual! And of
course your reaction was brilliant! Thumbs up! 👍
The first line of this song "Usahay" means Sometimes I dream of you and me. Its a folk love song written in the 50's which well blended with the classic Moon River as it was also composed in the 60's
Reminder on ! it's magical 😍 heaven voices ❤
Nice background Tyra you look like you’re glowing 😂 Mori’s sound engineer is getting big bucks for these music vids. The mixing is getting better and better every cover.
The insertion inside the song is a dialect (called cebuano) spoken in central part of the Philippines - however the general meaning of the serenade song perfectly merged with “MOONRIVER”.
My queen morissette
you're so pretty. love the reaction on Mori
First of all you look so gorgeous! 🥰 Thanks for appreciating everything in this video... from the vocals to all the other subtleties that was incorporated. Much 💕 from the 🇵🇭
You are the wo(MAN)! Thanks for this reaction girl! We love you! Peace and love!
Usahay, means 'Sometimes'... it is a 1960's Bisaya song that is very popular in southern part of the Philippines...
Very nice music Mori and her BF delivered! And, what a beautiful reactor!
I can't wait to listen to her singing Christmas songs.
lovely morie.😍💙💙💙
Usahay was really nice song and that's my favourite
Awesome Tyra. Love your reactions. Just remember to hit the CC button when she sings in another language to aid the understanding of the song's meaning though I know you are primarily listening to the voice and vocal and music etc..
Hi beautiful tyra.. what a nice reaction thank u..
She sang Henry Mancini's 1961composition " Moonriver" for the movie "Breakfast at Tifanny" and sang by Audrey Hepburn. It was mashed up with a Visayan Classic " USAHAY" which was composed by Police Col Greg Labja in the 50's for his wife when he courted her, Noemi was a school marjorette. Col. Labja is from Sibonga, Cebu but, settled in Pantukan Davao del Norte with his wife Noemi Ortega. NEXT PLS. LISTEN TO BUDAKHEL+KATRINA'S LATEST upload cover some 4 hrs ago 12/31/20 "thank god I found you"(Mariah, Joe,98 degrees)
Love your reactions to every Morissette's video. You might wanna check out and make a reaction video of her singing "And I Am Telling You". ☺️❤️
Usahay", a local love song in Cebuano, a dialect of the province of Cebu, Philippines. It means "sometimes" in English. Btw, Morissette is originally from Cebu.
Love Morissette, amazing vocalist! So great on this mashup she did with the Mancini masterpiece. So many great vocalists: Morissette, Dimash, Angelina Jordan, Aurora, and if you enjoy girl groups, you need to check out Blackpink, the best girl group of this decade to come from Korea. They just released their first full album so check them out and start with "How You Like That". They're videos have been seen by over 1 billion people so you should check them out. Thanks, Tyra!
Nice reaction from a gorgeous reactor.. I just subscribed here..♥️
Beautiful. a masterpiece, a work of art. awesomeness galore!
hi Tyra, I really love your channel! i find Morissette's mashup of Moon River and Usahay AWESOME!!!!. To be honest, even if i am am a Filipino, I don't understand too, the meaning of the song Usahay because it's not in Tagalog but in Cebuano (I guess??), that's why I turned the captions on to English subtitles and got so moved by the translation!!
More power to you, Tyra!!! We, Filipinos, love you!!!
I got teary eyes...so beautiful...😢😢😢
Awesome reaction, Tyra!
Hi Tyra!! I'm a fan of morissette and started liking you and your reactions as well. ❤ please also react to her ASAP performance of What Kind of Fool Am I
Usahay is a classic love song sung in cebuano (one of manny languages in the Ph.),,as is with moon river,Usahay convey the same vibe n message..bith are sweet lovesong...and mori singing them...❤🇵🇭❤
made my day that there is another Tyra and Morisette video
Oh wow that was in my dialect. Very nice
🌻🌹🌷👑Morissette Amon👑🌷🌹🌻
Usahay, the subsequent extension of Moon River, is sang in a Visayan language, one of the spoken dialects across the country. Remember, the 3 major islands in the Philippines are Luzon (where majority of the people speaks Tagalog0, Visayas (where the dialect is Visaya), and Mindanao (where Muslim majority speaks different languages, as well.
React to her singing "Loving you" at her Concert with another PH diva called AlaniMorissette, that was amazing❤️
Wow i like this rendition soothing to my ears
it did, put my eyes in tears
That's a beautiful video. Your reaction was great.

Queen Mori ❤️👑
she is one of the best professional singer here in the Philipines,

I agree with the others, that it sounds like a Christmas song esp with that harmonies, and for a change it's nice to see Morissette singing without those crazy high notes and power belts.
I love you Tyra! ❤️
You should check out IV of Spades! They're one of the best bands here in the Philippines! Listen to their wish bus performance of Take That Man and be ready to rewind everything haha! Much love from the PH! ❤️
