If you want the tornado to look cool, use the lightning gun. Activate the tornado, then use the alternate fire and if it just fizzles out, that’s regular. It will create a lightning storm for about a minute. TORNADO AND LIGHTNING
the "Spider lights" are just lights pretty much, they are used for exploration into dark places
