If you are in a evacuation zone... look up shelters now. Everyone else, get water, food, batteries and fill your gas tanks. Keep your phones charged and only use them when absolutely necessary before and during the storm. Make sure you know where the nearest shelter is if something happens. If you think you MIGHT need sandbags, get them don't hesitate. Clear all loose items outside, secure them where they are out of the wind. If you live in something like a trailer... DO NOT STAY IN IT... evacuate to shelter, that type of home is NOT secure. Do NOT go outside during the storm. Five people went 'walking' during Helene and ended up electrocuted because they were walking in water that had a downed power-line in it. (Putting water bottles in your freezer is a useful hack. As they de-thaw they become drinkable for the hot days that come after hurricanes because of the lack of electricity and because it's in bottles you don't have as much free standing water in your freezer/fridge when they melt.)
Anyways, good luck to anyone reading this. I already had all my prep in place. 😇
