EIrik Toft has pointed out that if you set the LEDs to be colored based on vTX channel, then put this CLI in, then the LEDs will have the correct color no matter how you change the channel (e.g. lua script, OSD, etc). Here's the CLI: color 1 0,0,255 color 3 240,0,255 color 6 120,0,255 color 11 0,255,255 You can still use the aux channel and vTX command to change channel based on button press, but this method opens it up to people who change channel any other way.
Hey man just wanna say love your videos you totally got me into fpv i love it have been flying for awhile now. I was wondering if you could help me with something !? i have a tx16smk2 ma( JB edition of course ) could you show us how to set up custom voice alarms or something how to use the voice prompts properly? like i want the radio to tell me when my drone battery is low or something cool ? i cannot find really any videos or tutorials on setting up alarms or voice prompts with the edgetx O.S or tx16smk2 max if you could help i would be for ever grateful
I just wanted to say that you are one of the most hardworking and consistent content creators - and educators- within the FPV community, and I really appreciate for everything you do for the hobby. Thanks for everything you do.
Awesome! I'll have to set up some LEDs on a quad so I can do stuff like this! When you were testing that the channels change it occurred to me that it would be cool to have eight of of those tiny monitors lined up on camera when you're testing VTX channels. Then you could switch channels and have each monitor pick up the signal for a second! It would make it look like the video was traveling down the row of monitors and would be a quick way of showing that the VTX works once it was set up! That might be a bit much just to test VTXs though. Great tutorial! You kept me entertained and learning all the way until the end, and I don't race or have a tiny trainer!
One other comment here, is that you MIGHT want to set your MIX to ONLY allow the switch position to change if you have ANOTHER switch in a specific position (sort of like pre-arm/arm) which would allow you to NOT let an inadvertent bump/button press to change your channel mid-flight. Only if you flip the switch to enable change, then push button, then lock it back out...
It's things like this that are wonderful, and at some level become expected, but the setup is overly complicated, and we forget how complicated it is until we buy a new transmitter or FC. I had this set up when I was running OpenTX, But when I switched to EdgeTX, I thought, "Forget it. It's not worth it to set it up again."
BTW, Joshua, I believe the quote is "the 3 best things of life are a whisk before and a cigarette afterwards"... Or something like that. But I don't remember who said that. 😬 Oh, and I don't recommend cigarettes. Unfortunately I do smoke... So, just don't. Believe me.
This is pretty awesome with the dual functionality! Just need to remind people that when they shut off their controller it will not stay on the last button selected on top of the tx16 and will revert back to button 1 every time. So if they are at a race and turn their controller off with the down time between rounds, they will need to check/set their channel again before they power their quad on. Why the controller won't remember the last position selected, beats me?
YOU THE MAN. Thank you for this. I have been thinking about this for a while. great way to use those buttons that nobody uses. Awesome. after all these years, yes, ill join your patreon buddy! Thanks for all your hard work and knowledge.
Super impressive work. Thank you so much - I was always wondering if I can get those 6 buttons to actually do something useful by making this channel go to distinct values. and apparently there is a way, yay!
Great video JB! Wondering if I can make it so that I have to trigger a switch before using the slider to set color. Ex, I have the zorro and I'd like to use the momentary button to enable color change, then set my color, then let go of the momentary, then the slider won't change the color despite me moving them in flight. Please lmk! Thanks!
This is awesome! But do show how to show the band and channel on the radio screen too. Especially on tiny screen like the T-pro or Zorro (i know zorro has a big screen, but it doesn’t have the one like the big radios do)
You can also have a separate model on the radio that has it set up for a different set of channels - so if you are paticipating in different leagues, you can have those values as they are stored in the model. We use one set of channels in Estonia but a different set in Latvia.
Hello Joshua, Thank you for your interesting videos. I tried to orientate myself on your videos to adjust the VTX table via BF via an AUX channel. I am currently using the OPEN TX on the TX16S For this I configured the 6P switch on AUX 4 to switch the channels and the S2 to switch the output power. After setting the channel switch, switching the channels worked, but after setting the power switch, switching channels no longer worked. Do you have a solution
Mr. B, quick question, I only have 5 4s batteries and fly everyday. Is it okay that I’m constantly charging them? I never leave them charged over 24 hours but within 48 hours I’m charging back up again.
@@JoshuaBardwell after that is set up, would i still go to the adjustment tab but just select LED profile selection instead of the OSD profile selection?
I haven't touched the adjustment tab anywhere in this video so I would have to say no to that question, but also, I think you're completely down the wrong path if you think that question relates to this video so fair warning.
@@JoshuaBardwell got it set up! Thanks! Just FYI for anyone with a Zorro, the global variables are listed as 'G1', not 'GV1'. Also there is no Global variables tab, they are hidden in the "flight modes" section. Just long click on the first flight mode and hit edit, scroll down and all 9 global variables are there.
@@JoshuaBardwell i know, i was referring back to your video titled "Your trim switches are useless. Let's fix that. (OpenTX n-position switch from momentary tutorial)" where you changed your OSD profile with a switch and you went to the adjustment tab to set that up.
LOVE the videos!!! Got my first RTF kit from Getfpv today and was super excited to start learning how to fly that lasted all of 20 min. Everything worked but the drone the people at GETFPV are giving me the run-around.FPV hobby is not looking too good right about now 👎👎

I like watching these videos because I want to get into FPV soon.
Finally a good use for the 6pos switch. I dont race and I want to set this up.
It should be really useful for when you're going to fly with others!
You never disappoint with these videos, keep ‘em coming Jb😁

Thank you JB I never use smart Adio but I guess I'm need to now lol 😂 I'm so glad you have the video to set it up I want to get into races

i didn't even know you could repurpose the trim switches :-O i guess i have to read the edgetx manual
Brilliant, Joshua! Thanks for the tutorial! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
My autism dictates the 6P switches should have been set to either 1,3,4,6 or 2,3,4,5
Otherwise wonderful content, thank you for your time and effort

No. Wait. The CLI stuff wont care about the model … damnit
does the led on your gimball tx16 reduce the range of stick?
Great advice as always!!
Is it bad I just want the drone now to have the lights& keep changing colors
Is this still the same procedure in bf 4.4? Or has there been a minor change?
I love the nerd chair dance once you managed to have it working 🙂 And btw are you really smoking ?

That's fine! They're intended to be used so use them!
Where u get the lights from?
I think once we setup vtx on aux we start getting noise (interfarance).
Does anyone else is facing same issue?
Could you have the same functionality using a momentary button like on the shoulders of the Zorro?
Yes. See the tutorial linked in the video description for how to set that up.

Caveman Robin want know how find close race!? *Pounds chest*
does this work for hdzero?
Yes, as long as you're using SmartAudio which not all hdzero vTX support.
Second
Do the color and channel aways stay together at races?
At tiny trainer races, they do.
You are gonna have to take dumb jokes, silly comments and begging off the table for ppl to wanna join your patreon mate. 😵💫
I have over 3500 patrons, mate. You wanna try again? If I'm not for you, no hard feelings.
