- Walk through our exhibition 'Choosing Vincent'. A tribute to the Van Gogh family. Without the unconditional support that they offered Vincent, the museum simply would not have existed.
The exhibition Choosing Vincent. Portrait of a Family History tells a personal story of doubt, setbacks, pride, and triumph. A story punctuated with dilemmas, seen through the eyes of Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890), his brother Theo (1857-1891), Theo's wife Jo (1862-1925) and their son Vincent (1890-1978), named after his uncle.
In the multisensory exhibition, you will get to know Vincent and his extraordinary family by looking, listening and doing. The many masterpieces and lesser-known gems show how the family collection grew to become a world-famous collection.
Music: Composed and performed by Remko Kühne.

I visited the museum in the summer of last year. Van Gogh’s art is such a personal experience, I feel like I’ve gotten to know him. Tree Roots was his last painting and I cried when I saw it. Thank you for keeping his paintings where they can be seen and enjoyed :)

It took so many people to make the right choices for themselves but in the end one way or another they all followed Vincent’s dream of having people see his paintings ❤❤❤ and the world is so very lucky 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

@@willowmillard it's William Turner. First of all it was van Gogh. But when I went to London and visited the Turner Gallery, van Gogh had to share his prominent place.

1:29 why wasn’t his older brother, and namesake given a spot on the family tree? Knowing that Van Gogh was a replacement baby (or rainbow baby in todays terms) it seems to be a potential vital attribute given it likely effected his family life.
