Rockhopper Penguin Chick First Swim

The rockhopper chick, hatched in June, has officially joined the full penguin colony and recently had its first swim! Its brand-new waterproof feathers help it glide through the water with ease. 🐧
In addition to these important milestones, the newest arrival has grown in size and is between 1-1.5 feet tall and weighs a little over 4 pounds. The chick is looking like an adult rockhopper nowadays, but still missing its long yellow crest feathers that will grow after its first molt at around a year old.
