In this time it was either become a groove metal band or chase the alt rock trend. Very few thrash metal groups actually continued to explore the genre, which is a big part of why Exodus are the best. It's true they did experiment with slower tempos during the darkest parts of the 90s but they never fully abandoned their metal roots
It must get tiring and hot to have long hair all the time. Maybe Dave Mustaine will eventually cut his hair and go for the golfer look like Hetfield, Holt and a few others have done in the past.
