I love the diet, high alcalines, go back to what earth provides for us. Lots of beans, lentils, peaches, fruits, chilis, tomatos all the good stuff we take for granted, as we keep walking past nature's goods to head straight for the chip aisle or the boxed & canned goods.

This story is so inspiring! And pretty similar to my family. My daughter went vegetarian first and as I wanted to support her I joined in and went vegan one month later. At that time I didn´t even know that there is a word for eating no meat, dairy and any other animal products.... Cooking now is much more fun than it was before! And yes YT is great for educating yourself!

    Great Story, Great Family 🍃💕🍃
I’ve been Vegan for 37 yrs. it didn’t have a name then. I loved Animals and ate salads & fruit plucked from a tree. So I guess that would be Raw Vegan. People just said I was Vegetarian. I didn’t want anything to do with hurting animals. It wasn’t that much of a change for me. Most of my friends were Yogis and we meditated most of the time w/ Kundalini Yoga. I was considered the weird kid. I can recall tasting the blood from the animal products. The final straw was visiting my Grandfather & he was showing us kids how to prepare a chicken. They were walking around free.I will spare the details. That night we had it for dinner. I sat w/ my cousins & we stared at the batch of fried body parts. They called us stupid kids, as we left the table feeling ill.
It was quite easy after that🌱🍃💚

I loved your channel from the first video I saw. Most vegans wouldn't even give reassigning other than saying it has meat in it and that's wrong to eat meat, but I'm glad there are people out there that actually care about things like that. And if it possible could you make more, how they make their candy? I find it awesome and interesting to watch. I someday hope to become a candymaker.

Glad you found relief, I switched to eating vegan/pb for health reasons too.. I'm still undiagnosed but juicing gave me full relief of pain so from there I started eating plant based. My energy and quality of life is much better. Pain is greatly reduced by my diet. Yes and when the cook in the house goes plant based all the eaters start to change too.

If you eat a lot of fruit or just vegetables at one meal, doesn't it give you the runs? I'm not suspose to eat gluten, but it's so hard. What do you do about calcium and iron consumption?

    • @NoEggCraig
      @NoEggCraig  5 лет назад

My first few days being vegan yes it did, but after your body adjusts to the increase in fiber your just regular again. As for calcium and iron make sure you're eating your green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds are very beneficial in that regard as well. After a while I've found that I don't really have to think about what I have to eat, it's just habit now.

I haven't gone vegan but I've definitely changed my diet and become much healthier. I've actually lost over 150 pounds. And I totally can relate to everything being super salty, and not wanting it anymore. I had gotten a craving for for my favorite type of chips, and decided to get some. I literally couldn't eat more than two, because they were SOOOOO salty to me. People from other countries say our snacks are too salty, and I totally get it now. I used to eat fast food literally multiple times a week when I first moved out. French fries are way too salty for me now. I could count on one hand the times I've been to a fast food place in the last four years. And the last time I actually ordered unsalted fries, and they still tasted like they had too much salt.

Greetings, I'd be curious to know if you have ever been prescribed antibiotics previous to your symptoms, particularly Cipro, Levaquin, Avelox, or Ciprofloxacin? I ask because of the horrific side effects of this class of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones. I had taken them for various things, bronchitis, sinus infection, and diverticulitis. My health got progressively worse each year, especially my mobility and weakness. It was 2.5 yrs ago after a 4 day hospital stay for diverticulitis flare and not being able to walk/stand but 2 steps or 3 that I began to look what was the cause. To be shock and horror I learned the very drugs that were given to be also were wrecking havor on my body. I just now looked up CIDP, and it sounds identical to what myself and thousands/thousands have had happened after taking them. There are many other health complications due to these antibiotics as well. After joining a support group on Facebook I've seen the damage of so many people who unknowingly took an antibiotic without hesitation. Drs are resistant to the facts that a drug can do the damage it has, but thankfully the FDA made changes on when it should be prescribed, now as the last line antibiotic and never if the patient is over 60 yrs of age. You might Goggle fluoroquinolone toxicity and see if it sounds like your health problems. Many who have been told they have fibromyalgia actually have been damaged by these drugs. I am now in a wheelchair because of the damage. Blessings to you and keep making the candy videos, your parents are real gems.

Hello from the fellow vegan candy maker up in Canada!
I went vegan for similar reasons as you, I was misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia at 16. I was eventually diagnosed properly with lupus and Crohn's disease at 20 (22 now). At one point I was sleeping 23 hours a day, in the hospital every week and on the way to having my intestines removed. I went vegan because I tried literally every other diet out there and nothing helped. Since being vegan (little over a year) I have been to the hospital once and can live a normal life again 98% of the time.
I'm actually transitioning my whole candy company into being vegan in January 😊
I hope that you guys are surviving the crazy candy Holiday season, it's been crazier than ever this year 😝

First, do your parents actually make the chocolate itself at your factory?? Second, since you have all become vegan are your mom and dad able to taste the chocolate for quality control or is that not needed because you have the same recipes and use the same products to make your chocolate?

I lived the 80/10/10 lifestyle for 3 full months and it was amazing, so much energy, felt the best I had ever felt. Watermelon for breakfast, tons of oranges, apples, peaches for lunch, and hue salads for dinner, just tons of varieties of fruits and veggies. But in month three I started breaking out along my jawline with intense painful cystic acne and it caused me to have a massive panic attack that something was wrong with what I was doing, so I went back to eating cooked vegan food, and the transition back was kinda hard because the portions seemed so small compared to eating raw. So I kinda developed a binge eating disorder for 6 months while transitioning back to cooked food and gained a lot of weight. I just ate way to much because my perception of portion size was way off from eating such large fruit meals. I'm much healthier now and my weight is back to 115, it got up to 152! I just eat whatever I want (vegan) now instead of limiting myself to raw, although, it was really awesome in the beginning and I had a lot of fun putting all my fruit stickers on my calender, haha. But yeah, just didn't work out for me, a lot of people chalked the acne up to "detoxing" but I think I know my body and there was definitely something wrong because I started feeling very lightheaded as well. Might have thrown my hormones out of balance cuz my period was starting to disappear and I started spotting here and there random times throughout the month, still don't know exactly what was happening. But yeah, that's my experience with the raw food lifestyle. Regular veganism is where my health is at it's best and I don't really want to ever experiment with my diet like that again cuz it was kinda scary and took me a while to recover from.

Also, I work at a popular vegan bakery called nami in phoenix, az and am a cake decorator, we make different seasonal candy too, like peanut butter bars/cups, "snickers", different barks, truffles, so I really fucking love your channel, haha.

    • @NoEggCraig
      @NoEggCraig  7 лет назад +1

I think a lot of people transitioning from raw to cooked have a similar story, I definitely gained a few pounds at first after incorporating cooked food. Not because of the cooked food though as much as like you said the portion size is vastly different and hard to get used to. But yeah I think a whole food plant based diet with cooked food is definitely healthier.

It's organic soy and coconut based and there are tons of mix-ins. We always have tons of different baked goods options, fresh friend donuts every morning, and also do a huge vegan brunch every sunday that people line up out the door for. Just sayin, it's definitely a spot to scope out if your a vegan family who happens to be on vacaton in Phoenix. Check out our instagram page @namivegansweets. I've have CIDP since I was 19. Also diagnosed with GBS at first, then to CIDP because it was recurrent.
But the hospital sued me because I couldn't afford IVIG anymore (I got REALLY behind on payments) It was also 7k a pop here..and I was doing it 3x a week.
    Also plasmapheresis, cellcept and azathioprine.
I now take.... NOTHING. Yes nothing.. realised after years of pain, hospitals and debt- it's better to have CIDP and the symptoms it comes with, than all those "treatments" and pills.
I'm 32 now.. but CIDP is for life. I didn't come here to comment on the vegan stuff.. just nice to see a fellow CIDPer.

So Craig, I am 75 and have had CIDP for twenty five years . Needless to say, I am handicapped and cannot stand in one spot. I can manage to get around my house a little with the help of my walker. I have been in extreme pain for all of this time and am surprised you didn't mention your pain. I am allergic to pain meds so I get no relief from that area. Could you please make another short video about how your health has improved since you went vegan, and what you do to help ease your pain? I cannot tell you how happy I am for you that you have actually reco vered from C I D P. You have a strong willed and supportive family and that makes everything in life so much easier. It is awesome that your family is vegan. My favorite meal to make is pasta or rice, coconut oil, taco seasoning, garlic powder, and whatever kind of pepper you choose. Y'all should try making your own pasta sauce because the jars of sauce sold in stores are very wasteful and almost always watery. My dad makes the best paste sauce (with tomato paste as the base), and if he makes enough of it, the sauce can last over a month.

I’m a bit confused ? Never heard being a Vegan would cure some illness’? ? You could write a book !
Always thought it was a choice to not eat animals mostly because the way they are treated ..
I’ve definitely don’t eat nearly as much meat as I used too! But I still use eggs, cheese ! And use chicken broth in many things !
I would have though eating ALL that fruit in a day would have adverse effects on your system ! ?
I have chronic pain, Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis muscle pain I’m
    also a Diabetic !!
I love my Pasta, any kind !! I make a lot of vegetable spaghetti sauce , you don’t miss the meat, but several use cheese !! Eggs! So I like dairy !
I have no thoughts of curing myself! But I do eat many more vegetables, I’ve tried many fake meat dishes, no taste ! I would rather eat a small cube of cheese rather than a chunk of fake stuff !!
I just do my best to eat healthy !! I fail some days but I keep going !! I would not miss meat, but I do like a small6oz sirloin steak and baked potatoes !
I like fish, is that a no no ! ? Love tuna and whitefish
Craig, you are fortunate to have a family that supports you , mine would think I had gone nuts ! I’m a prep-per in a small way ! Always have been ! Stock up canned goods, buy by the crate when prices are good ! water, dry goods like rice, sugar, flour assorted spices !!.... have a Hurricane, storm box !! With many lanterns! A small compressor ....live in the South East ! Had many bad storms here !
Not a big bread eater, was hard but I cut back drastically !! I used to make my own bread ! Nothing like homemade bread, garden fresh tomatoes , butter and chees fo a meal !! Cut back on salt we were never big on salted everything !!

I finished my beef with meat and I'm working on 80/10/10. Ive read a few books on plant based diets, and they have all pushed the reason to go vegan as method of saving animals. Which is great, however that isn't why I went vegan.
It was nice that Esselstyn mostly touched on the health and science of eating vegan and provided loads of informative answers for those pesky questions that are asked of us. "Where do you get your iron and protein from?" "There is no calcium in your diet." 🙄

10 years ago i was in hospital with laryngitis which at that time i got chronically, problem was that my throat closed totally to the extent i couldnt breathe on my own. After a cortisone treatment and what not, one doctor came in and told me i was misdiagnosed, its not laryngitis, my throat and larynx was scarred, burned from acid reflux. Then he started treating me for that and after a barrage of tests found i am totally allergic to wheat, gluten is my enemy nr 1. I do have to take 1 capsule a day to nutralize stomach acid, but with a gluten free diet i do far prevented progressing to celiac disease. Shopping for totally glutenfree products in south africa is a pain and extremely expensive as it seen as a health fad not illness. So, its just cheaper to go with fresh veggies, whole spices and just intelligent shopping, i dont buy anything already prepared as msg/wheat products gets added to every and anything. Point being, eating smart to help your health is the best option
